Super clean camping cabin. We stayed here last night and could not have had a better experience. The cabins are compact and have a/c and space heaters. The cabins seem very new, but I don't actually know how old they are. From check in to check out everyone was very helpful and friendly. Each cabin has its own small fire pit with a removable grate. You can buy firewood right where you check in (which is very close to the cabins). Our 2 goldens loved it also. Very inexpensive pet fees (about $3 per pet off season). The shower and bathrooms were less than 100 feet from our cabin, and appeared to be centrally located to all cabins. Great wifi reception in cabin. Flexible check-in / check-out. Shower and bathrooms were exceptionally clean (it is also very ealry in the season, so depending on who is staying I imagine it could fluxuate, but the owners appear to have high standards for cleanliness). They also have coin-op laundry in the shower facility. There is a pool that looked nice and mini golf that was very tidy. Located in the woods very close to mt. Rushmore. I have stayed at serveral camping facilities throughout the us and this wAs definitely one of the best. Also had excellent prices compared to nearby campgrounds.

We rented a cabin with a loft for our family with 3 kids. We also brought our dog. The cabin was perfect for us - the kids loved the loft! We weren't looking for a huge space - it's too beautiful here to be inside! There is a great hill full of fun rocks to climb and explore for hiking and walking behind the cabins. You are far enough away from attractions and crowds, but less than 15 minutes from Mount Rushmore. Lacey was a great hostess helping us with a late check-in and even mailed a forgotten stuffed animal and camera battery back to us that we left behind. We enjoyed some basic miniature golf and the kids hung out on the playground. With the leaves just thinking of turning, it was just beautiful.

This was the fourth stop on our family vacation to Mt. Rushmore, and we were a bit tired of camping. We found this place online before we actually got to the Mt. Rushmore area, and reserved it online after looking at many campgrounds and reviews. However, it was much further from Mt. Rushmore than we thought - host at the campground said 10 miles, but it was a VERY windy 10 miles. When we finally got there (after passing many great options) we were put at the end of the camp, because of a family reunion that was using all of the best tent sites. We were quite a way from the bathroom, and we were squeezed into a tiny spot with families right next to us. Although there was a quiet time rule from 10pm to 7:30am, a family with kids arrived at about 10:30 and spent at least an hour blowing up mattresses, kids running around shrieking, etc. We had to get up and ask them to quiet down (no camp hosts available). To make matters worse, there was a "Wolf People" campground near us, and the occupants at that campground howled at the end of the evening and first thing in the morning (it was light at about 5 am...) On the plus side, there were bathrooms with showers and a laundry. There was a pretty nice store with deli. Overall I would say that we could have found better options closer to Mt. Rushmore, had we waited until we got to the area.

We stayed in a two person housekeeping cabin (#8) which was adequate for our day hiking ambitions. The cabin possessed a range/sink/fridge combo and a few kitchen essentials. Advice: if you want to prepare your own food, then bring your own plates, cups, etc. The bathroom was tiny but the provided toilet and shower were adequate.

The cabin was roomy enough, and it is in livable condition, nothing fancy. The on-site store is handy for convenience items, knick-knacks, gifts, and short order foods. The weather was poor when we visited in early June (2009), so if you are staying in a cabin during cold weather: ask for more blankets and another heater. We did not... and regretted it.

The location is very helpful: the resort is near Custer State Park (~2-3 miles curvy road), within ~5 miles of Mount Rushmore, and depending on your exit choice - 50-75 miles from the Badlands (highly recommended).

We love budget conscious lodging and this helped ($72/night plus tax). You can find cheaper cabin accommodations if you bring your own bedding around the area, but we did not see many that furnished bedding.

Great area to vacation, enjoy!

We stayed at Spokane Creek with 3 young children and it was perfect! The cabin had a double bed and pullout sofa bed. I was pleasantly surprised at how large the cabin really was. The fridge and stove top worked and served our purposes well. The best part was the playground just outside cabin #6 and #7. We could sit on our deck and watch the kids play. The pool was super clean and new. The mini golf was free and the kids could go alone, we could see them from the cabin. There is a small creek where they hunted for frogs and built a dam. The kids hiked up the mountain and collected all sorts of rocks. This place was perfect for us!!! It was close to everything, nothing we wanted to do was farther than an hour drive. Best of all the owners and workers were very friendly and became friends over the week. I would highly recommend this place if you're traveling to the Black Hills!
