We went here to kill time. We were staying in Keystone and had planned on riding the alpine slide. Enter thunderstorm. Slide got put on hold. We went to Rushmore caves because we had heard how awesome the 7D theatre is. It was very cool but also very expensive. There is also a zipline but they had to stop that too due to lightening and rain. By the time we got done at Rushmore Caves the Alpine Slide was open again.

Called a week in advanced about wheelchair accommodations and was told they would work with us on helping our son with MD to ride the zip line. Man on the phone told us he could do it all, but got there and was told wheelchair people just hang out in the gift shop. Wouldnt be so upset if I hadnt called ahead. They never even answered the buzzer for assistance. No apology, just told the person I talked to was wrong. Great way to tun a business!

The entire grounds were very well kept. The cave tour was fun, educational, and all of us enjoyed it (3 children ages 9, 6, and 3). Cody our tour guide kept things moving at a good pace, not too slow, not too fast. He was funny and knowledgable about the cave.

In addition to the cave tour, the older kids did the 7D movie/game/show and loved it! They also rode the Soaring Eagle Zip Line and thought it was great! While they did that, our 3 year old "panned for treasure" and enjoyed finding pretty stones and gems.

All in all, this was a wonderful stop on our Black Hills vacation, and I'd strongly recommend it to anyone! A couple of guys with us on our tour said it was one of the best cave tours they had done, and it sounded like they had seen many of the caves.

A quick fun easy hour in a cave with a 5 and 7 year old. Very entertaining tour. Then jewel panning and zip lining. Very touristy but my young kids needed an easy day that was all hiking and nature. For a serious cave go to Jewel Cave. For a couple of hours of fun and a cave go to Rushmore. My kids loved it!

We took 2 of our granddaughters to this cave. We had toured one the day before & had to wait over an hour and then went with a group of 40 people. Very little guiding on that one, but at Rushmore, they held up the tour for a few minutes so that we could go then. There were only 11 people and the tour guide did a wonderful job of answering questions & pointing out the interesting spots. We then did the zip line that was totally awesome! Our 9 & 12 year olds loved it as well.
