If there were any decent restaurants in Keystone, we didn't find them. We dined at the very basic Railhead Restaurant in Keystone. Breakfast the next morning was also a hassle. We wanted more than the basic doughnut and grimy coffee offered at the hotel. Over the road was a cafe, but the service was so bad and the prices so out of proportion that we abandoned Keystone and went straight to Mt. Rushmore.
What a wonderful surprise when we arrived and found the park restaurant Carver's Cafe. We had the restaurant almost to ourselves and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast with great friendly service, and the price was only slightly more than the miserable place in Keystone with the paper plates and styrofoam cups. They also serve lunch and dinner. Very fair prices and a pretty decent menu.
And eating breakfast overlooked by our four greatest presidents - priceless!
