“Charming, cosy and clean.. peaceful too....”
Reviewed October 9, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

The photos do not do this lovely cottage justice!!. It is miles better once actually visited. So well equipped (kitchen has absolutely everything..!!) and with a charming style, it really did feel like home away from home.
Penmachno is only a few minutes drive from busy Betws-y-Coed, giving us peace and quiet after the long summer days out and about in Snowdonia. I must commend the owner on her communication and detailed helpful instructions. Kids loved the fireplace, insisted on lighting it even if it wasn't that cold,, they were just too excited!
Overall we felt vindicated by our choice of off the beaten track, and to top it all this cottage exceeded all expectations.

“Great, homely cottage in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed February 18, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Only a couple of miles from Betws-y-Coed, this little gem of a cottage is perfectly situated with amazing views over the hills and valleys, and quaint little rows of stone built cottages all around.
The inside is very warm and welcoming, we loved the log fire and massive slate hearth. The cottage is full to brimming with home comforts - everything you could need and lots more besides. Very comfy beds, great shower, huge kitchen, a real walkers haven with maps too. Everything has been thought of and provided.
The only downside was that some of the cupboards were padlocked; most were not, which made us a little unsure as to which of the items available we were allowed to use. It might be an idea to remove items such as the electric organ rather than leave a note saying not to use it - this disappointed our teenage musician greatly.
Other than the odd mix of locked and available, we loved our stay, had a fantastic time, and will no doubt be returning in the future.
Oh, and the wifi was excellent, a valuable commodity for anyone with children !

Liked best: The period features and homeliness of the cottage
Liked least: The way some facilities are available, but locked away from guest use felt a bit segregated.

Thank you for your generous review. I was disappointed with the removal of a star due to the 2 locked cupboards and clavinova. As you say, the cottage is brimming with home comforts and this is because we stay regularly ourselves. Noddfa is a very much loved, privately owned home from home. The 2 cupboards contain personal items for our use when we are there - as we have found in every privately owned cottage we have stayed in. All the other cupboards and their contents are for the use of guests. As for the clavinova, it is not mentioned in the cottage description and so not expected by guests and therefore should not cause disappointment. My husband plays the piano on our stays and I feel it is reasonable for a musical instrument not to be available for guests to play. I am very glad you had a fantastic stay. Thank you once again.

“Sublime Snowdonian Sanctuary”
Reviewed December 31, 2015 for a stay in December 2015

We're just back from from Christmas spent in this beautiful cottage, our first family Christmas away from the family home and we're all agreed that Noddfa was absolutely the perfect choice, cottage, location and made for a wonderful Christmas. The cottage is just beautiful, more than spacious enough for the four of us, amazingly well-equipped without being cluttered, clean, homely, warm and cosy. The landlady Anne, who was just brilliant from word-go, had also "Christmassed"-up the place for our arrival which was the perfect touch as we arrived on Christmas Eve & there were more treats! I couldn't recommend the village & area enough and even more-so a stay at Noddfa - we are planning a return trip to the area for next summer and the first thing we'll do is check in with Anne first and see if we can book another few days here. Just wonderful.

“Cosy well equipped little gem”
Reviewed October 14, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We stayed here for our anniversary weekend, we wanted somewhere cosy and where we could explore the area.

The cottage is gorgeous, had everything we needed, bed was so comfy and shower was huge! log fire was a must and they had logs to start us off with, the kitchen had everything, there was plenty of maps etc if you wanted to do some walking, we chose the conwy falls walk which was about 5 miles, the area is stunning, we had to pay £1 to view the falls but was worth it and its just down the road.

Betws - y - coed was a 4 mile drive away, its gorgeous there with swallow falls which is breathtaking. We ate in 2 restaurants, the bistro in town which was lovely and the Ty Gwyn, the food there was amazing!!! we booked a week in advance though so do book beforehand as the place was fully booked on the night.

There was a little pub right outside the house, we had a drink there before we went out and the locals were very friendly, it was a home from home and will definatley be returning!

We didnt have any phone signal though but managed to contact people via wifi as they had this in the cottage, we used the phone in the pub to phone for taxis but unfortunatley were fully booked so try and book in the day rather than leave it till last minute.
