We were made so welcome, So much attention to the smallest detail. food was good and served in a friendly manner. Only three bedrooms so personal service. Set in two acres just outside of the town it was quiet at night. Centrally placed so we spent a most enjoyable week and were sad to leave. House is Victorian and decorated and furnished in way sympathetic to the period. a place we will always remember fondly and will return if we can. Thank you Lorraine and Simon for all your hard work that made our visit so good

Hi Alan & Maggie,

Thank you for taking the time to write your review of our property, and for saying such nice things about us!

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and look forward to seeing you again on your next visit to this part of the world.

Just to clarify for other readers, we are located just on the outskirts of the village of Penmachno (actually being the old village rectory) and are 4 & 1/2 miles from the tourist centre village of Betws y Coed. Some previous visitors have mistakenly thought we are located on the outskirts of Betws itself.

All the best

Lauraine and Simon were perfect hosts - attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Lovely old house with lots of character but balanced with all the mod cons needed in a B&B. The breakfasts were great and the opportunity to chat with both the hosts and other guests was just what we hoped for.
While the B&B is a couple of miles off the main road we actually enjoyed the peace and quiet and found the location a perfect base for sightseeing around North Wales.
We highly recommend this B&B to others.

Thank you so much for your kind review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and trust that you find many more enjoyable places to stay on the remainder of your trip.

Thank you also for sending us your simply stunning photo of the Laburnum Arch at Bodnant Gardens in full flower, which we have added to the photo collection on our Facebook page (duly attributed to you). We are so pleased for you that Bodnant was showing at it's best for your visit here.

And, that includes the vastly over-rated, overpriced Savoy in London. The location and rooms are beautiful, and they are not crammed into Betws-y-Coed proper. Proprietor Simon Awdrey was most helpful in recommending local attractions, restaurants, and pubs. Breakfast is outstanding. If you are coming In from Aberystwith by car and using a GPS, it may recommend a right turn onto "Road". The locals use this unnumbered single-lane road all the time, but you may wish to disobey your GPS if you aren't comfortable "reversing" a right-hand-drive car to get to a pull-out if you meet another vehicle.

Hi David,

What can we say? "Better than The Savoy" !!?? You are too kind!

As you found out, the "road" in to the SW end of the Machno Valley is "interesting" and somewhat unexpected for those coming here for the first time.

Suffice it to say we do recommend taking the "friendly" route via the B4406 off the A5. We are only 2 miles from the main London - Holyhead road, which is somewhat more user friendly than the old "Drover route" at the other end of the valley, so please note... check our website for directions rather than rely on the good old SatNav!

But glad you and the car survived the adventure all the same.

(BTW the "road" at the SW end of the valley does have some absolutely STUNNING views and is highly recommended, as long as you don't mind the narrowness and sheer drops!)

Happy motoring

This was a fantastic five-night break at a wonderfully welcoming B&B in the quiet secluded Penmachno Valley, just four easy miles from busy Betws-y-Coed. Simon & Lauraine were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them in seeing to our comfort. Our room was the 'Yellow Room' and faced the rear of the property with views out onto the hillside with its sheep grazing the fields. The room was very comfortable and that included the bed and all the usual facilities were available and topped up every day. It says it all that we were introduced to guests from Houston, Texas who were on their fifth visit! We'll definitely be returning to Penachno Hall.

Room Tip: Of the three rooms available, only the Yellow room at back (west side) was available when we booked...

Hi Derek

Thank you for your brilliant review.

We are so glad you enjoyed your 5 days up here in "the North"!

We stayed in the self catering Coach House (I couldnt see a separate listing) which is part of Penmachno Hall. The little touches such as a print out of the weather report, a jug of milk in the fridge and biscuits in the jar along with the excellent facilities make this superb self catering accommodation. We will be back

Hi PixieLady

Thank you for your amazing review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay in the Coach House. We must admit that when we had finished the work we were tempted to move out of the main house and live in the Coach House ourselves! Glad you appreciated the weather report, sorry that we have no control over it's contents however!

Hope to see you all next year.

A really good place to stay in lovely surroundings. Very close to mountain bike trails, Betws a short drive.

Very helpful and good service.

Well worth having a dinner there too - good food and wine.

Hi Adam

Thank you for your great review. As you say, the Machno Bike Trails start only 1/2 mile from our front door. (I really should ride them more, I have no excuses!)

Thank you for your comments regarding the food too, so glad you enjoyed it. We hope to see you again next time you visit the area.
