As has been previously said on other reviews. The inside of the cottage was of a good standard. However we were disappointed that the blind could not be pulled down and closed in the dining room which meant we were overlooked by the neighbour in the evening when the lights were on. The shower room was small and was lacking in somewhere to put shower gel shampoo etc. A shelf within the shower would have been handy, and also a hook on the back of the door for dressing gown/clothes
The outside left us very disappointed as it was said to be with an enclosed garden and suitable for a dog. This was not the case. The gate had no secure post to close to. The grass whilst we stayed there was waist high and the slate path was slippery and uneven.
There was no parking available outside the property except for loading and unloading. The advert regarding parking is misleading and only becomes clear when an email is received from the owner with the details for the cottage just prior to the visit. For a younger or fitter adult it is a 5/6 minute walk to the car park, it took us 10 minutes to get there which was not fun as it rained the whole time we stayed at the cottage. Parking was not so easy at night once all the local village people arrived home from work. Space was limited and the parking space is up on what looks like a small village council/social housing estate.
We personally would not stay here again.
My comments are very much the same as the first review posted for July 2017. The property is better known as 'Sarn Cottage'.
* Recently refurbished to a high contemporary standard
* Great, clean condition
* Really comfortable furniture and beds
* Lots of towels provided
* Well-equipped kitchen
* Superb location for Snowdonia holidays
Points that could be improved on - all minor in relation to the good points:
* Parking is on-street, approx 5 mins walk away (car park not available)
* Could do with better lighting in the living area
* Internal & external woodwork not painted to same high standard as rest of property
* TV is internet-only ie all freeview catch up services are available but limiting live TV to BBC iplayer programmes only. Really not sure why the property can't have an aerial or sky dish when all the neighbouring ones do!
Overall we had a great stay at Sarn Cottage and would be really pleased to stay there again.
The cottage is pretty much as described internally, it still feels like it was recently refurbished and was very clean. The kitchen is well equipped with instructions for all of the appliances, which are of high quality. Only scope for improvement is a freezer compartment in the fridge for ice. The living and dining area is spacious and comfortable but would benefit from brighter lighting, the cottage feeling duller than the pictures suggests. The main bedroom is spacious with a comfortable large double bed and sufficient storage. The second bedroom has two comfortable beds and sufficient space, The is a nice bathroom and a separate shower room both with heated radiators. Bedding and towels were provided.
The cottage is a mid terrace property and could benefit from some external work on the front to improve the appearance, the peeling paint on the front door didn't create a good first impression, particularly as the interior was in such good condition.
The rear garden is fairly spacious with good views over the countryside, it has a picnic table but no barbeque. The lawn was in poor condition with long grass that had only been recently strimmed and was very uneven. The garden has potential but needs work to bring it up to the same standard as the house.
It is not possible to park outside the property, other than briefly to unload etc, parking is available in a car park less than 5 minutes away. The village is pretty with great views and walks and the people there were friendly and helpful as were the neighbours.
I would recommend the cottage and enjoyed my stay, but feel that some attention to the front and garden would further improve its attractiveness.
