We have just returned from a very enjoyable two-night stay at the Royal Hotel in Comrie. Our room was on the top floor, quite compact but very comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean and the toiletries were of a good quality (Molton Brown). My wife was looking for hair conditioner, however.
Wireless access was good on the ground floor but not so strong in the room. The library was very comfortable so it wasn't a hardship to spend time in there on the wifi. We had dinner in the hotel on the first night of our stay and the food and service was of the highest quality and, overall, reasonably priced. I wouldn't have minded a heads-up on the cost of my after dinner cognac though, Hennesey coming in at £10 a shot!
Breakfast is not your average 'all you can eat' buffet-style arrangement. This is quality food cooked to order and on both days was outstanding, obviously a great team working in the kitchen.
We hope to return to Comrie and would definitely consider the Royal again.

Just back from a stay at the Royal Hotel, Comrie, it was excellent, a beautiful hotel, spotlessly clean with very freindly and helpful staff. The rooms are lovely, we stayed in a four poster bed room, and had a lovely comfy large bed, would love to visit again soon. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, the food and staff service, especially ANDREW, was excellent, nothing was too much of a bother to them. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

We used a deal voucher for this mid week break but after arriving in the afternoon and having coffee and scones we decided to eat dinner here too - both nights. We paid to upgrade our room but only as it was the only one left - we were not disappointed we had room 1 which is a 4 poster room with a lovely seated area and a view over of the bridge.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful, in particular Andrew the waiter in the restaurant who despite seeming a little over worked had a smile on his face at all times.
The village is small but does have a few shops, deli's and another restaurant should you need them and a pleasant walk along the river. On the first day we went to the pub at the back and sat in their garden and enjoyed some peaceful surroundings. The food we eat at the restaurant was superb we had no complaints at all. Breakfast was good however I do agree with another review that there wasn't a good selection of fruit or yoghurt - but what was there was nice.
Overall we loved the hotel, village, food and staff and would gladly return for another visit.

We're just back from this fab wee hotel in Perthshire and cannot praise it highly enough. Craig and his team really seem to love their jobs, and it shows. Last night at dinner we were desperate to help out in the kitchen just to find out what was causing all the hillarity!
The rooms are spacious, well equipped and clean - and the view from the top floor was beautiful. We stayed there for two nights, but would have been happy to have spent a week here! Our favourite place in the hotel (apart from the restaurant) was the library - we spent a few hours here marvelling at the diversity of books available to read - and even spotted an old favourite of mine - The Kappilan of Malta! Chris even managed to fit in an afternoon nap it was so peaceful!
Spending New Year here would be amazing - the whole village apparently celebrates the occasion by partying in the "Square"
The title of the review says it all - well done Guys it's really appreciated, it's so lovely to come to a hotel where you're more than a number!
Hope to see you again soon.

We spent two nights here on a bed and breakfast basis, having dinner on the first night in the hotel. Our room, on the first floor, was spacious, clean and with a four-poster bed - extremely comfortable. The bathroom was again spotless and the in-bath shower provided plenty of hot water.
The main part of the hotel has origins dating back to the 18th century and is very well presented with good decoration and subtle furnishings giving a very homely and welcoming feel.
Our meal on the first night was well cooked and presented and the cooked breakfasts were substantial, although a slight criticism could be that there is not a great deal of variety in the way of fruit on offer. The service was excellent and friendly and we would recommend staying in this establishment as a base for touring the beautiful surrounding countryside.

We stayed here for one night last year, booking on the basis of an affiliation with the Great Inns that it shares with our favourite hotel. The hotel didn't disappoint, it's in a great location in the centre of a beautiful little village, a lovely old building with modern rooms. Our room was lovely with a great bathroom and comfortable 4 poster canopy bed.

We ate in the bar at lunch time as we arrived which was a nice setting and was busy, althogh the food was bland. We'd booked into the restaurant in the evening as Comrie isn't the largest place. The food although reasonably priced was a real let down, from the uninspired menu to the service, no-one seemed to be trying. This place is in easy reach of some of the best produce that Scotland has to offer and we couldn't see much of it on display and certainly not cooked well. The venison we had was overcooked due to being sat under the lamps at the pass too long. We found it a very disappointing meal.

In summary, stay at this beautiful hotel (I'd rate as 5 star) but find somewhere else to eat (I'd rate as 1 star).

My husband and I stayed in Royal Hotel, Comrie for 4 nights as a short holiday. We had picked the hotel on the recommendation of a friend and so glad we did.

It only has 11 rooms so you do get a lovely personal service. The public areas have been beautifully decorated, lounge and library are particularly lovely rooms. We were put in a 4 poster room and the subtle colours and big sofa were fab. Had a great view too.

The cooked breakfasts are cooked to order so always lovely and fresh, not greasy etc. Top quality produce used. Best bacon ever, although the black pudding and haggis and sausages and porridge were great too. It is a totally difference experience to staying at a big hotel with a large self service area and hot food which has been sitting out for ages.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we stayed an extra night. We felt so well looked after. Very friendly, helpful staff with a nice relaxed feel throughout hotel.

We had dinner 3 nights out of 4 and the food is so good, excellent value for money too. Only word of warning about the food is that the portions are very hearty so be careful how many courses you order.

Wonderful wee hotel and we will definitely be back. Hopefully soon.

Room Tip: 4 poster rooms are lovely if you want a treat
