“Nice place, shame about the weather!”

We visited on October break - never being there before - and although it was raining we thought we would perserve. As I drove through the hills I noticed my car thermometer going down to about 1 degree (it was 10 when I left home!).

Althought it says on the website visit come rain or shine, I definitely wouldnt really recommend going with small children (ie under 3) if its raining. The lady was really nice in the shop and didnt charge the full amount due to the weather, but even so a lot of the animals were not out as it was miserable.

Positives - great play area (if it wasnt raining), saw very young chicks and some of the kids in our group held them, golden potato hunt was great and the food in the cafe was just fabbo.

Im not writing this place off - I think I'll need to revisit when the sun is out on a dryer, slightly warmer day.

Visited on sun 7 October 2012, on a sunny autumn day.

The Cafe was brilliant and very reasonably priced. It was under a pound more expensive for coffee and cakes all round than in a supermarket cafe. The service was quick and the food was fresh. For a busy place the toilets were very clean and were checked on a regular basis.

All the staff were brilliant, but a special mention needs to go to the keepers whom have a deep passion and love for the animals they look after.

With it being the tatty holidays here they have made two extra activites for children to do. The golden tatty find and where are the haggises (or is it haggi?!). Maybe not ideal for my 3 year old but anybody over 5 enjoyed the haggis hunt!

Glad to see the new owners are updating the site for both the visitors and the wildlife alike.

Whilst there I would recommend going to see the "larger" animals, which are a short walk from the main site. However, do not look for the raptors as all the area was closed but the roaring stags and the cute otters were worthwhile the uphill walk not to mention the view from the top.

A great day out.

We were able to take our dog along to meet all the lovely animals so were chuffed to bits. The animals all looked happy - no smelly enclosures. Cafe looked really nice. A family could spend a whole day there day the looks of it. LOVED the baby meerkats.

We visited the Centre on 23/09/12 and had a really great time. Our 17 month old grand-daughter was able to pet a rabbit and a chick, and the staff were very helpful. All animals looked fit and well cared for. Also pleasing to see the many hand sterilisers around. The indoor soft play area was super. We had lunch at their cafe and it was lovely. Very polite and friendly staff, freshly made food - the mushroom soup was great - and good prices. Clean toilets, with plenty soap and hot water. Baby changing facilities were good. Well done to all.
