“Lovely lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2013

We stopped here for a lunch with my elderly in-laws and the staff couldn't have done more for us if they had tried. They quickly moved chairs and opened doors to accommodate my Father-in-Law's wheelchair and were welcoming and interested in us and where we had come from that day. The food when it arrived was hot and tasty and good value for money. I know the Comrie Hotel well having lived in the village for over 20 years and these relatively new owners seem to be switched on and are spending a bit of much needed money on the place.

Stopped for a night recently to meet up with a friend who lives locally. I Had stayed there some time ago and was pleasantly surprised to see the new owner has started a renovation. The welcome was warm and friendly, the room I had (room 9)was recently completed and was very clean and well presented. Freeview TV and free WIFi, only problem WIFI did not have range enough to work in the room, in the bar however the reception was excellent and speed good. Took dinner in the restaurant, food was very good & fresh........breakfast was also excellent. Bar was fine, they had a good selection of beer and whiskey!!!!
On the whole very good and would recommend a stay!

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as guests, we really value it.

We have been slowly but surely renovating and refurbishing the entire hotel, we are glad you liked your room. We pride ourselves on looking after our customers so I'm very pleased that you received a warm welcome and were well looked after.

Comrie is unfortunately a bit in the dark ages when it comes to the Internet, we have tried to ensure all the rooms have wi-fi but it is extremely dependent on the original signal. We are looking into it and hope to resolve the issue before long.

Many thanks for your contribution and we hope you will stay with us again.

We did not stay in the hotel - but it looked good- and the staff were very pleasant. We were living in rented accommodation in the town and ordered 'carry-out; fish and chips one evening. All eleven portions were excellent- some of the best haddock we'd ever eaten. We also had one breakfast in the bar area and once again the food was first class - and the welcome very warm.

It was a real pleasure to provide your party with our famous fish and chips, it's no trouble to us to provide takeaway and it was lovely to have you all in for breakfast.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year

We popped in here for (late) lunch on Sunday so only used the restaurant - luckily they were able to squeeze us in with two young children. The room had clearly been recently renovated (it looks to be part of an ongoing major project), and although not to my style, it is smart.
The service was very considerate, and the food acceptable but perhaps in need of some more work - my fish was very good but I gather the burgers were a bit 'dense'. Certainly worth trying again.

Many thanks for taking the time to submit a review, we value your feedback.

We have been renovating the entire hotel over the last two years and we have nearly completed the main works with just the reception area to go and a bar refit in the pipeline.

I am very sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your meal, our chef is normally spoken of very highly and all our food is freshly prepared. I do wish that you had let me know at the time as we would have liked the opportunity to ensure that your meal was to your liking, we don't like to see any customer leave without total satisfaction. May I invite you to come and try our restaurant another time, we will do our best to make sure you enjoy the experience

Recently had dinner for two at the Comrie Hotel. The quality of the food was excellent - cooked with expertise and fresh ingredients by an experienced chef. Would say that it easily beats the other establishments in Comrie with its non fussy but very tasty menu and sensible prices. The best haddock and chips I've ever had - bags of flavour, fresh fish and hand cooked chips. The service was faultless. The dining room looks freshly decorated and was certainly very presentable and would benefit in time with a few things to give the walls a bit more character... small point though. Will definitely be back :-) and will recommend the restaurant to others.

Warm friendly staff could not do enough to make us feel welcome, our mum was 75, they laid on an amazing spread, all fresh food, decorated the dining room with banners and table decorations, supplied free champagne, catered for a gluten free meal too, then supplied a karaoke machine, we had the best night, thank you very much. $80 (British pounds) per night seemed a lot for a hotel that is in such need of renovation. Fire Alarm went off in middle of the night, water pressure was non existent, no shelf or counter in the bathroom to put anything on (we had to put our wash bags on the floor) and we could not get out early in the morning because the front door was locked.

We checked out early after one night.

Food was great and the staff could not have been nicer. The hotel has potential, especially with the fantastic staff, but needs renovation and should not be charging the rates it is charging until that is completed.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review, we value all feedback.

We have been extensively renovating the hotel over the last two years and we are almost there. All our rooms have been refurbished, as have the restaurant and the bistro is now open since your stay. It is extremely hard to ensure customer satisfaction if there are any issues which are not brought to the management's attention at the time of a guest's stay. I wish you had approached us with these at the time when we would have been able to resolve them.

As this is an old building there are a few quirks that we have to live with and unfortunately upstairs the water pressure can be sometimes be low when there are several rooms using the supply at the same time. This is an issue which we would have gladly helped you with had we only known.

All businesses are subject to fire regulations, one of which is that fire alarms must be installed, this is for the safety of all our guests and staff. This system is not under the control of the hotel, we don't set it off simply for the sake of it and I think it is unfair to note this as a negative point about the hotel. If the fire alarm goes off the reason for it must be found and although this may seem an inconvenience it is surely better safe than sorry.

For guests wishing an early check out it is noted in the room literature that reception or a member of staff must be advised the previous evening, this is quite standard in most small hotels.

I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us as we pride ourselves on guest satisfaction. I would like to invite you to come back for another visit, I am confident we can provide you with a wonderful experience.
