“It was ok”
Reviewed July 29, 2011

The room was good and we slept well, you have to remember it's a pub so people will be coming and going especially on a Friday and Saturday night and it's always packed. Breakfasts were fine but kippers were never available although listed on the menu. There was one girl dealing with virtually everything and was too busy to be really friendly but she was pleasant enough if you made the effort. If you wanted sauce, bread, salt though you'd have to go looking round the pub yourself or head into the kitchen!

We apologise your experience was not 100% enjoyable. The particular weekend you stayed was very busy, but that is no excuse for customers not receiving good quality service. We were understaffed and this has been reviewed and rectified. We can only apologise further for your preferred breakfast choice not being available throughout your stay. We do genuinely provide what is on the menu and try to keep sufficient stock levels. Thank you for taking the time to review the Spinnaker and your constructive criticism is appreciated. If you have any other concerns please feel free to contact us by email: enquiries@spinnakerhotel.co.uk.

We agree with previous reviews, what a little gem. The views over the Clyde from our room, room 6, were spectacular. We stayed for 3 nights over Easter and booked a double and a single room overlooking the water. Breakfast was lovely, all freshly produced and plentiful.
We did not eat here but the food being served in the bar looked wonderful. The owner and staff could not have been more helpful. We would certainly stay again when visiting our relatives in Gourock.
If I had one criticism is that it would have been nice to have a couple of comfortable chairs to sit in rather than the dining chairs that were in our room in the bay window. Just to sit comfortable sipping a local beer and taking in the scenery would have been the icing on the cake!

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the water.

We haven't stayed for three years so it was a pleasure to find that this hidden gem is still everything it ever was.

Friendly, comfortable, splendid views - excellent food, helpful management and above all good beer - that is:- Real Ale.

We will be back!

Magnificent wee hotel on the coast road through Gourock. Only six bedrooms make for a very friendly stay, the staff couldnt have been better or more obliging. A well stocked bar didnt do any harm either! Spotless and well appointed bedrooms with ensuite facilities.

Having visited The Spinnaker on many previous occasions for food & drink, we decided to sample the hotel rooms, whilst visiting Gourock for a friend's 30th birthday. On arrival, the check-in process was extremely swift and we were made to feel extremely welcome. We requested a late check-out for the following day, with a departure time of 12:00pm, which was arranged with the person who was checking us in. We were also advised that a cooked breakfast (included in our room rate) was served until 9:30am the following morning. Our hotel room, which had a front facing sea view, was simply stunning, with modern and stylish decor. The whole stay was superb and the beds were really comfy. The only thing which spoiled our stay was a knock on our hotel room, at 10:45am on our day of departure, with a member of staff asking us why we missed breakfast, in a rather abrupt tone - even though we had already paid for the breakfast in our room rate - had we of known that the breakfast was a mandatory requirement, we would have advised the hotel staff, in advance, that we were unlikely to make breakfast!!. We were also advised, again in a rather abrubt manner by the same member of staff, that we would need to vacate our room by 11:15am, as the room needed to be cleaned, in preperation for a wedding party - even though we had already pre-arranged a late check-out at 12:00pm. This "telling off" for missing breakfast (which we had paid for anyway, but chose not to have) did tarnish our stay a little bit - which was really unfortunate, as the rest of the stay was totally superb and I would definately reccoment this hotel to others.

I travelled from Dallas, Texas for business in June 2010. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and made me feel very welcomed. The owner/manager Stewart personally greeted me. He was always around making sure everyone was pleased with their service and food. Excellent food. I can't say I had a bad meal. I ate every night at the hotel. I felt they took pride in making people feel welcomed. Even though this is a hotel they make you feel like you're part of the family when you stay here. The friendly and excellent breakfast cooks never disappointed me either. I had the window view which allows an outstanding overview of the river. Very relaxing to just sip a beer and look out over the river with all of the sail boats. I would most highly recommend staying here. I will be returning in a couple of months and already plan on staying here.
