“Cafe Continental”

This has been a favourite restaurant of mines for many years, I love the area at the back which almost seems to hang over the sea and you get 180 degree views of the Clyde Estuary and can watch the ferries going back and forwards between Gourock and Dunoon and in the summer you will see yachts cruising past almost close enough to touch. It is run by an Italian family and so the menus and drinks etc reflect this. A great place for a night out but you have to book ahead at the weekends as it gets really busy.

“Great atmosphere”

Good atmosphere, good service, good views. Expensive drinks but still busy on a weekend. Regular live music events.

“Greated with a grimace”
Reviewed October 22, 2012 via mobile

Been here a few times over the years and been served by various staff members. I seem to be always treated with contempt as though they are doing me a favour. I don't understand why I have decided to give it another try, although this will be the last. Food is average pub grub at best and the overall product is overpriced.

“some things never change”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

I had the misfortune to grow up in Gourock, and on one of my usual quick visits for want of another option, went in here for lunch with my family.

The place itself is tired and has a cold, souless feel about it, and there is still and unaccountable "haughtiness" in the air (which is undeserved). Unfreindly, poor quality service followed but some poor quality over priced food delivered by a sullen waitress, who i got hte feeling would rather have thrown the food at us.

Overall, bad service, bad place, bad food- I must admit it was what I actually expected, but had hoped to be surprised! Thank god I dont live there anymore.

“Cafe contirotten”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

This establishment has all the atmosphere of a public toilet and to make matters worse you will have to pay through the nose for the privilege of sitting in this austere edifice as it is one of if not the most expensive place in the town. The only plus is the friendly staff who deserve a medal for working in this dump.
