A very arrogant, rude, foul mouthed manager. He needs a few lessons on customer service. Not the sort of place for young families. We were there for a quiet drink, after watching his attitude we all walked out.

“The best sunday roast!”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

My family and i went to The Castle on sunday to investigate the pub which will be our new local as we are moving to the area & we weren't disappointed.
The pub is very quaint and traditional with lots of farming, horse & polo related trinkets everywhere. The decor is perhaps a little tired but it all adds to the charm. The pub is split over several small rooms, there were open fires going which made it very cosy.
The staff we very friendly and couldn't have been more welcoming or accommodating. We all ordered various roast dinners and they were the best roasts we had ever had. Great sized portions, homemade yorkshire puds and the meals arrived steaming hot which is exactly what we wanted on a cold, rainy sunday!
I will definately be returning!

“Pity about the chips”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

I went to the Castle for a quick lunch, chose pie and a pint. The Steak and Ale Pie with chips and peas, all home produced in their kitchen, which is open for view to the public. The pie came in a ceramic pot, with excellent puff-pastry. I really prefer a pie which comes on the plate, but this was good. Unfortunately I prefer chips which are bigger, so that the insides are light and the outsides are crispy. These were thin and stringy, which let the meal down for me.
Good selection of beers on tap, about 4% gravity.
Good parking facilities, three separate eating areas, I chose the one with the roaring log fire. Local association with McClaren F1 centre.
