“Terrific stay at Jasmer's East Echo Chalet”
Reviewed September 27, 2007

We selected Jasmer's based on Trip Advisor reviews. Thanks everyone; you did not disappoint! We stayed four nights at East Echo, a nicely appointed and well-equipped cabin/chalet in the woods a few miles from Rainier's entrance. One floor, big very well-equipped kitchen, huge bathroom with TONS of towels, plenty of storage space, comfortable bed and big leather couch. Outside -- big deck, charcoal grill, wood fireplace, and very nice hot tub. We used 'em all!

We didn't meet Tanna, but had an excellent greeting and intro from Luke who was helpful, knowledgeable, and available.

The cabin is off the main road, tucked into the woods in a pretty quiet neighborhood. Parked the car in the driveway right next to the cabin. Everything was clean; the cabin was well-located for our many trips into the park and to Mt. St. Helens.

  • Liked — Proximity to Rainier SP; cabin set-up, comfort & amenities (full kitchen, deck, grill, hottub, big bathroom)
  • Disliked — nothing...no internet/cellphone access, but it was easy to drive down the road & use them outside Jasmer's office!

Just wanted to say a quick public thank you to the folks who run Jasmer's for having such a nice place for us to stay (Wild Bird) when we were in Ashford, WA. We were there for just one night prior to Brian's climb of Mt. Rainier. He was looking for a place to organize his gear and get a good night's sleep. It must have been one of the factors working in his favor, as he made the summit on August 24 on a climb guided by International Mountain Guides! While he was climbing, I had a very empowering and beautiful solo backpack hike along the Wonderland Trail (3 days, 2 nights). (Thanks to encouragement from Tanna who was enthusiastically supportive of my plan for this, my first solo backpack.) The fourth day I volunteered as a Meadow Rover at Paradise and roamed the Skyline Trail in very gloomy weather – so beautiful. We wish we could have stayed longer at the Wild Bird, or one of the other cottages, and would like to have had time to enjoy the hot tub, too. The Wild Bird was a welcome home away from home, if even for just one night, and was well supplied with all we needed. We appreciate the comfortable stay and friendly welcome.

  • Liked — Everything we needed was right there! Clean, spacious, friendly people.
  • Disliked — There was nothing not to like.

privacy in and out , off in the woods, quiet , fully equipped, great hot tub, comfortable beds, good place for families or friends, extremely close to the Nisqually entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park and therefore close to many trailheads, management very knowledgeable about hiking and weather patterns.
A great place to stay and day hike from.
Would love to return.

What a wonderful place to "come back home to"! We were so warmly welcomed, so surprised by such a tucked away bit of heaven. Richly enjoyed the mountain, found the cabin perfect in size and comfort, complete with coffee and such. Especially the fire-stove. We aren't hikkers, just wanderers and really enjoyed just breathing, enjoying the quiet and the amazing views. Even the llamas ! Awakening to the birds, beautiful sunny days and fresh air, with such a cozy well built and appointed cabin was worth the 3,000+ mile trip. And we hope to be able to get back on our next Anniversary ! Thank you Luke & Tanna !

When we arrived at Jasmers we were warmly greeted by both Luke and Tanna. It was not like the typical hotel check in, it was warm, friendly, almost like staying with family. Tanna right away took it upon herself to look into places for us to ride out ATV. She brought out maps, made phone calls, did whatever she could to accommodate us. What a special person she is...

Our room was the Song Bird and was charming. Immaculately clean, with all the comforts of home. Nice fireplace, TV (which we didn't use much because we were there to get away from technology!), nice shower, hot tub (which we didn't use but sure could have) and just a beautiful homelike setting (well, we don't have llamas at our home but you get the idea...). We stayed two wonderful nights there but wished we could have stayed longer. It is so peaceful and quiet.

Thanks Luke and Tanna for the wonderful hospitality...we will be back as soon as we can!

Check in went very smoothly the owner, Tana, is very nice. She was able to provide me with trail information for Mt Rainier (which trails were open, which were still snow packed and which were still closed from the November 2006 floods). She also provided information on local restaurants, groceries, etc.

I had booked the Bird's Nest Suite, but since I was the only one staying at the time, she upgraded me to the Wild Bird Suite for no additional charge.

This room is in a cozy cabin and has a very nice decor, there are nice antiques (including the antique sink). The room is heated by a gas fireplace, which was helpful my first night there when it was a little cooler.

The Wild Bird is also appointed with a refrigerator, microwave and LCD TV. The owner provide a few books, and movies for your enjoyment - or you can read a guest book from previous occupants -- Most have nothing but rave reviews for the owners and the cabin. (I have provided photo's for your review)

There is a hot tub on site that you have access to but please note that the other two suites also have access to this and you must reserve time. Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to "test it out" but maybe the next time I visit.

Jasmer's is located about 7 miles west of the Nisqually entrance to Mt Rainier National Park. It is in a quite area and you occasionally see deer walking around - as I did on the day I left. (see photo)

We visited Ashford and Mt. Rainier for the 2007 Rainier Independent Film Festival. What a great time we had in one of the country's most picturesque places! When we weren't representing our film in the festival, eating at one of the great restaurants in the area, or hiking the mountain, we spent some of the most relaxing moments at our cabin, nestled along the shore of a quiet, soothing stream. This place is breathtaking and unforgettable. I was prepared for a rainy weekend, but the weather was great...cool and plenty of sun. Best of all, Tanna and Luke were the most gracious of hosts. Everything you could ever think of needing when you travel was provided in the cabin. I always forget something...but everything we needed was right there. You can never tell if your next film will be good enough to get accepted again at a festival, but I'll definitely visit this town again...and I know exactly where I'm going to stay! If only I could have found some way to get that unbelievably comfortable bed on the plane with me!
