“Quiet two days to recover from Xmas & New Year”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

We stayed at the Moat House as a wind down after Christmas and New Year (it is 1/2 way between families!). Never stayed here before but is was excellent. The hotel is very well appointed and maintained and during our stay offered a feeling of calm not always found even in 4* establishments.

We dined one night on the Two AA Rosette restaurant which was again excellent. If I was to be picky the main course could have been a little hotter on arrival at the table.

Second night we eat in the bar and again the standard of food and service was excellent and for the quality of food very good value for money

Room Tip: Executive room was very nice indeed and bathroom was very good. Beware some double rooms are twin zi...

Truly love this place, I've been here for very special occasion's, special occasion's, treat's, suprises and just for lunch. I've stayed in hotel several time's too. The food is alway's divine, the service standards high. Everyone want's to please. The main restaurant has a set menu and al la carte. The atmosphere is not too formal and isn't pretentious (both smart casual or more dressy work). It's easy to relax and feel looked after. The al la carte menu is a good one for foodies and is changed with the differing season's. Alway's delicious. The Sommelier is alway's on hand to advise regarding wine choice.
The bar serves excellent food similar to the main restaurant (not al la carte menu) it's easy to chill here.
The hotel accomodation is clean and relaxing (although check your room won't be disturbed by wedding noise, this does end around midnight). Some room's overlook lake or canal. It's nice to go for walk's locally along the canal. Can't wait to go back!

( Infact if anyone I know read's this review and want's to suprise me, I'm ok with that and thank you in advance )

Room Tip: Ask to make sure you won't be disturbed by function's. ask for a room with lake or canal vie...

We enjoyed a one night stay at this hotel yesterday and it was superb. We had an executive room which was spacious, tastefully decorated and comfortable. The room included dinner (£30 per person towards dinner) and breakfast. The hotel staff were polite and accommodating. The food was excellent and the service impeccable. A thoroughly enjoyable night away.

We had the pleasure of getting married here in December and we could not have found a more idyllic location.

From start to finish the staff showed nothing but outstanding attention to detail and nothing we asked of them was too much trouble. Furthermore, they conducted our celebrations with unobtrusive style and panache in a confident and friendly manner. The location, service, quality of everything about this hotel was absolutely delightful.

Their wedding package ensured we had a most perfect day and the Colin Lewis suite for the ceremony, breakfast and evening reception looked amazing.

The staff were totally polite, efficient and professional in every way.

We cannot find anything to fault or criticize this superb hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room if there is a function in the Acton Suite

This hotel is delightful in summer because of canal-side rural location, and they do many weddings. However it really comes into its own at Christmas with blazing fires and olde-worlde charm. I go regularly, have stayed several times and had a work-related lunch there this week. It was evident they were exceptionally busy but staff were polite and professional. The food was good (can be great when a la carte dining here) but this was a different proposition as scores of people were being served in quick time. atmosphere was great.

Room Tip: some have lovely views

As you drive up to the hotel the surrounding vistas are quite wonderful, the hotel looks so perfect from across the pond in front. And guess what ? It is.
My room was so big I could have snuck in my rugby team and no one would know (seriously) the food was wonderful, if a little overpriced.
We went for a walk and got lost but it was such a beautiful day we didn't care, the location couldn't be more idyllic.
I would absolutely love to visit here again, just need to save enough pennies.
