If you want a break away from the hussle and bussle of everyday life this is the place to go, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the accomodation very clean and adequate. The Resturant is lovely and the food was excelant, London Resturant standard without the London price.

Definately going again.

Room Tip: I dont think it matters

We stayed on a 2 night KGB deal in May this year. The room was one of the unrefurbished ones, which was what we expected, but it was adequate; the bed was comfy and the bathroom was clean. For what we had paid it was fine.
The hotel public areas are clean and tidy, but quite dated.
We experienced some dreadful standards of service and food while we were there, which seemed such a shame because obviously the owners had used the KGB deal to improve trade. We expected showcase cooking, and on the first night we got it, the food was lovely and looked beautiful. Service was fine too. So we booked a table for the second night (the hotel is so isolated there is no other choice if you want a drink with your meal, it is too far to walk anywhere else). The second night was another story altogether, not only was the menu the same (except there were a few dishes missing from the night before) but the food was plain rubbish. There were three choices of starter, the same on both nights - mushroom soup, garlic mushrooms or garlic prawns, 3 prawns for £6.00. In the morning, the only offer for breakfast was a full English, there were none of the fish dishes advertised on the website. Toast was not toasted, eggs were hard.
When we first got to the hotel we were too early to book in, so we went for a 3 hour walk and came back to check in. The manager was on reception and we asked if the bar was open, he said it was so we went through and he served us. We got our drinks and went to drink them out in the sunshine. When we fancied another, we tried and tried to summon someone to serve us but the place was deserted! Exactly the same happened the next day when we came back from a 16 mile walk - one drink was our ration and then the manager disappeared! There was an awful atmosphere in the public areas, probably due to the diabolical piped music, and the few guests that were there (it seemed to be almost empty) whispered. We ended up in our room watching TV by 9 o clock both nights as the atmosphere in the empty bar was so grim.
Shame. Could have been so much better.

Just return from a very pleasant stay at this hotel staff were very helpful and the hotel was great the only downside the bed in room no3 this either made it sound like you had a very dodgy curry or you were having a great time, the noise every time you moved was very off putting maybe the management could change or effect repairs, other then that it is a short break we would happily take again. PLEASE SILENCE THE BED.

Room Tip: Do not use room 3 unless they have updated bed.

Went to the restaurant at the hotel today to celebrate my mother in laws birthday. We had rung up before as we had a 1,2 and 3 year old as well as my in laws who were in their 80s. We enjoyed drinks on the terrace with stunning views and then had our food. I found the food excellent. The service was friendly and helpful . I had never been to the hotel before but have been going to the area for 25 years . I will definitely be going again.

Room Tip: I cannot comment on the rooms but the location is lovely. On the top of a hill with great views . Ni...

We stayed here this week for a KGB deal & had chalet 16, it was comfortable & clean & adequate for our stay. The food was first class & all staff were friendly & helpful, we were unable to connect to Wi-Fi in the chalet & had to go in the main hotel - which wasn;t a problem.

My partner and I have just spent a fantastic weekend here at Lyncombe lodge. We arrived on a Friday and booked a meal in the restaurant the food was stunning and beautifully presented both my partner and myself were very impressed! We had one of the Chalet rooms, which was fantastic, we loved waking up to the birdsong in the morning! The room was a good size with a wardrobe and shower room attached. Areas do need to be updated but it is nothing that could or would affect your stay. Breakfast.... Well what can I say my partner had the full English on both mornings it was really lovely, and I had scrambled eggs with a rasher of bacon which was bordering on being a bacon steak! I can highly recommend the scrambled eggs especially the ones I had on the second morning, the chef had added chopped chives to them and it was devine!!! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were friendly and extremely helpful.

Although you may feel like you are lost in the woods, most places are only a short drive away I would highly recommend anyone staying!
