Enjoyed a one night stay here, friendly staff and lovely location. We had already made other arrangements so didn't stay here for food. Would stay again! (Also dog friendly if requested in advance - important to us!)

Lovely hotel, the staff were attentive without being intrusive. Our room was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed - even free mineral water! The setting was perfect - we took a walk around the grounds before breakfast and spotted a deer. Breakfast was freshly cooked and served in the light and airy restaurant. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing weekend break.

My husband and I stayed at Lyncombe Lodge when visiting Somerset for a wedding. Our other accommodation fell through and when we called Lyncombe they did everything they could to fit us in at very short notice. The room was a bargain price but it didn't feel like that at all. It was comfortable, clean and light and had not long been decorated. The hotel staff were great and so helpful. It made us feel like we were staying with family. We ate in the restaurant on Sunday and had the most amazing roast dinner then spent most of the afternoon sat on the patio in the sunshine, admiring the view. It was just what we needed.

Room Tip: If there is anything you need just ask. All of the staff are very helpful and have a fantastic knowl...

We had been looking for somewhere to stay before flew of from Bristol airport. We stumbled on this hidden gem. Not only was the evening meal fantastic, Josie, the lady who looked after us could not have been more friendly and helpful. For under a £100 we had a comfortable room and a delicious breakfast (the sausages are amazing!) and to crown it all we were able to leave the car for the duration of our holiday and get a drop off at the airport. When we returned we realized what a stunning setting the hotel is situated in and enjoyed a lazy stroll on top of the Mendips right from the door.

I chose this hotel at the last minute as I wanted somewhere reasonably priced close to home. it was for my daughter and I just to get away from our home surroundings at Easter but not get stuck in all the traffic. The reviews were good so we went on them.
First impressions when we arrived, driveway and carpark a bit worn and potholed but not drastic and it is an `outdoor`Hotel so not put off.Again not the most attractive outside but at the price reflected this.
Although the staff were not `all smiles` the were indeed very helpful, one lady in particular bent over backwards to offer any assistance so thankyou for that.
Room was a twin, not huge and indeed dated with tatty wallpaper and broken lampshade. the furniture was modern tho, the beds first class and it was warm and very clean. Again I judged on the price we paid for the room and I would say it was fair.
Did not eat here as it was quite expensive, I would pay these prices in a more upmarket hotel but not in this setting. We had a drink and coffee later in the bar(£12 for a house wine and a coffee) which was really cosey,A nice end to our evening.
Setting was very pretty and ideal if you want the ski resort and close to Cheddar for a nice day out.

We take on board the additional comments that you made regarding the hotel needing a bit of TLC and I am happy to tell you that we are slowly but surely in the process of making these small changes. Nearly all of our 14 bedroom have now been re decorated.

We also have a new chef and new menus to suit all tastes and budgets so if you come to see us again you may wish to dine in our Garden Restaurant.

Now please know that I am always very fair when it comes to this sort of thing and do not moan for the sake of it. I am always the optimist and try to see the best in people and situations - but this took the biscuit!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a moderately polite but charmless man. Nick. He turned out to be the manager and did not seem at all comfortable talking to us. This was forgivable as a little later on he allowed us some plates and wine glasses to take to the room so my girlfriend and I could have a snack.

A little later on, I asked Nick if we could have a late check out as the hotel seemed absolutely empty and Sunday was the next day. We had a long day ahead of us as Rachel had a plane seat booked for 2130.

Nick agreed, but no extra charge was ever agreed. When I mentioned paying extra it was almost brushed over. Nick was obviously not in the mood for people today.

We booked a table at the hotel restaurant and when we arrived ordered a couple of drinks. I had a look at two menus which had stark differences in the offerings on each. My partner Rachel told me a little while later that the girl at front of house had made a sarcastic remark about me causing confusion everywhere I go - nice. This didn't sit well with Rachel.

Now the girl at front of house was not well recruited or trained. She had the demeanour of a night-club bouncer and the charm of a tennis racket.

The comments I read before we went to stay here sin the praises of the staff - IT'S BALLS. There has been a shift in management and any sign of good service left with the last shift.

The 'woodland' room was small shabby to say the least. A lodge, promising scenic views of the Mendip Hills! (haha). Cobwebs everywhere inside and outside of windows, marks all over the walls, paint smeared over the panes of glass meant for the frames and a shower that was louder than a lawnmower and had tow settings: cold and scold. The loo seat was hanging off and the shower gel dispenser empty.

When it came for us to leave the chef was sat at reception picking his fingernails (or something similar) and the same girl from the night before yet again graced us with her charms! She presented the bill with an extra £20 for the extra 3 hours we stayed that day! Now if it had been agreed that would have been fine, but in no hotel in the world have we ever been charged extra for late checkout - it's a good way for giving that little extra!

Verdict: I WOULD NOT STAY HERE - EVER! PLEASE IGNORE THE REVIEWS BEFORE. THEY ARE MISLEADING AND INCORRECT.

Room Tip: The woodland rooms (lodges) are SMALL AND GRUBBY with little or no views of the hills. Just some tre...
