We weren't sure what to except as we only booked a few days before going to Percy's, what a great choice. We phoned Tony to let him know our arrival time, as requested, & he gave us directions which were spot on. Tony & the three dogs met us on arrival & we were swiftly shown to our room, which was large comfortable & spotless. We dined at the hotel each evening & found the food faultless, shame about the waiter ( just joking Tony ), we purchased there cook book in the vain hope of being able to emulate some of the meals.
Percy's hotel is a wonderful, peaceful haven which we did not want to leave

Room Tip: Lavender room is spacious, comfortable & private

We love Percy's - it's a very special place. We have been going there since 2005 and enjoyed it every single time.

The food is superb, the tranquil setting of the huge estate the property is situated is magnificent and the cottages (guest rooms) are lovely, cosy and homely.

It's a place to go & completely switch-off - it's totally peaceful & rejuvenating. It is unique: a boutique hotel with a farm where all the meat, poultry and vegetables come from. ( Their website has amazing images of the farm, animals, fields etc).

I like the exclusive feel of the place - it's a special almost 'undiscovered' hotel that has retained it's soul and not given into over-commercialism.

The owners are caring people, doing their very best for each & every guest. On arrival there is freshly baked pieces of cake in each room, as well as fresh fruit, tea, coffee etc. As a family of four each of us has various dietary preferences / allergies; Tina was so wonderful and tailored each meal to please everyone. The quality of the food is outstanding - both in terms of freshness, organically grown, and of course Tina is an award winning chef.

Instead of going to a sweaty gym we went on some amazing walks as well as early morning runs on the Coombeshead estate. We also drove to Bude - 15 mins, did a long and beautiful coastal walk to Sandymouth Bay & back again - really recommend this if you enjoy walking.

There is plenty to do in the area - most listed on Percy's website. Percy's is a place to go to relax, recharge and be spoilt. It is not a party scene or for those who want a rowdy time. For these reasons, we love it all the more.

Room Tip: E-mail them in advance with any dietary requirements you might have - will help them plan your meals...

Thank you so much for writing about your stay. It was great to see you all again. It was good to have time to talk to you about your requirements prior to your stay - it gave me the opportunity to plan ahead! The different diets posed absolutely no problem at all.
Hope to see you again soon - perhaps for that cookery workshop you mentioned. Best Wishes to you all.

Staying a Percy's was like staying like staying in luxury hotel in the middle of the country, where the emphasis was on quality in every possible respect. Excellent beds, crisp sheets and perfect pillows. Lovely bathroom that was warm and welcoming after a heavy day's cycling along the Granite Way. Cake left every day for us to come back to! Tina's cooking was top class, elegantly presented and full of lovely bursts of flavour. I wish I could have fitted more mouthfuls in, but I am not very large! The dogs made friends with us and we were duly taken for walks around the estate. In the evenings we enjoyed sitting out the decking at the main house sipping a glass of wine and looking at the horses. Unfussy contemporary elegance in a traditional setting. The perfect place for a getaway!

Good of you to write a review Phyllida! Glad you enjoyed the stay - I am so pleased the sun came out for your al-fresco pre-dinner drinks on the patio. I shall make a note to serve a slightly smaller portion for you next time you come, so that you CAN fit it all in. Look forward to seeing you both again!

We had a great 2 night stay at Percys. Finding somewhere really nice when you have a dog isn't easy. Luckily dogs are welcome in several rooms at Percys. This isn't a posh hotel this is a fabulous restaurant in the main house with some lovely accomodation in another block. Food and rooms are both of the highest standard. What was the icing on the cake for us was the fabulous walks around the estate with our labrador. We also went walking on the beach at Bude in Cornwall - just a 20 minute drive away. I hope to be back eating Tina's food very soon - excellent.

We live 16 miles away, so have only sampled the food. We went as a party of 8 plus two toddlers to celebrate a family 80th birthday. I have heard of 'food that melts in the mouth' before but never appreciated what it really meant until we ate at Percy's. Meat that is cooked so tender must be taste to be believed - Tina's cooking is fantastic. Don't expect to have really fussy food - it's wholesome and utterly delicious. Service is warm and welcoming by Tony. You will not be disappointed!
