“Food straight from the freezer”
Reviewed August 11, 2014

We have used this restaurant for takeaways for the past couple of years, but I don't think we will bother again. You might imagine that the location would guarantee fresh fish when ordering fish-and-chips, but it is straight out of the freezer and no better than you could cook at home (in fact, some of the battered fish from the supermarket is far superior!). The burgers are nothing special, again bulk-buy fare, and the chicken nuggets were almost inedible due to the teeth-breaking batter. It's a shame as the staff are very friendly and service was quick, even if you chose to wait in the outdoor area which smells of fuel oil from the tank there. Could be so much better!

“Yummy crab sandwiches!”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

When we went to Portscatho we weren't sure where to have some lunch. However we were able to get a parking space in the square right opposite the Boathouse so across we went.
There is a small garden to the side where we sat and enjoyed our crab sandwiches. Service was excellent.
It was a nice day so the inside restaurant was empty, but it was very well done out and I would imagine would be a very popular venue in the evenings.

“Only enough bread for 1 round of sandwiches!!”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

Probably visited at least once every year for the last 8 years but we think this was our last visit.
We ordered 1 round of cheese sandwiches and 1 round of tuna along with 2 cokes and 1 cream tea. Cokes were served quite quickly, and then we were told they only had enough bread for 1 round of sandwiches, when we asked if the local bakery / deli store had run out they said we don't buy our bread there we prefer it from elsewhere, we ordered 4 loaves and have sold out. ( for the sake of satisfaction you thought they would make an exception and go to the local store)

Cream tea arrived and we were disappointed in that the scones were very small, although there was a very large pot of tea enough for 4 cups and ample cream.

Outdoor seating area is due some upkeep, overgrown borders and old tables and there was a smell of oil from the oil tank situated in the area.

We were the only customers present and it was about 3pm.
