“Great little gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2014

Well , the Roseland is a lovely peninsula , with lots of hotels and places to gaze at the sea. This is a lovely beach with a very well equipped cafe - good food , tasty menu choices, open air ambience.

The Hidden hut is only hidden from the road above - it has lovely views over the sandy beach.

Not a place if the weather has turned rough , but sun and breezes are fine - and the coast path makes it a lovely dropping off point.

“What a feast!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2014

We were lucky enough to get some tickets for a feast night and sat out on our rugs and ate steak and langoustine. A very special night.

“Not so hidden hut now”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2014

Caroline Quentin in her tv show has made sure this hut is no longer hidden.....I jest because it still is a delightful, tucked away place that hasnt allowed the numbers visiting every day to detract from its quality.

The Hidden Hut sits above the most delightful bay which equally has a seclusion about it that is often difficult to find in Cornwall in August. So far as the food at the Hidden Hut, I would be happy to eat there every day. The next time we visit we will make a day of it, find ourselves a lovely little spot on the beach, check the board at the Hut for that days specialities and then set off for a lovely lunch on wooden tables adorned with plastic tablecloths and beautiful wild flowers in enamel jugs.

On this particular visit we had a combination of crab chowder with croutons (extremely filling) and pulled pork with coleslaw and a new potato salad along with Luscombe Sicialian lemon drinks and coffee. You must then return mid afternoon for their delightful cakes including gluten free versions or ice creams which are also of amazing quality with flavours such as gooseberry yogurt, white chocolate and raspberry or salted caramel.

There seemed to be different nationalities enjoying the cafe also so word obviously gets around. There are good walks along the cliffs and the Hut would be a welcome stop off.

We will be back and as I have already said, make a day of it and simply relax.

“completely sold by the elusive hidden hut!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2014

Tickets for the hidden hut sell out almost immediately, and you have to book a table weeks in advance. You also have to bring your own cutlery, plates, drinks and chairs, and I was sure that the hidden hut would be overrated.
HOWEVER... it was absolutely amazing and exceeded all the hype I'd heard!! We were lucky enough to be there on a perfect August evening, the view over Porthcurnic beach was soooo beautiful, and we could go and play on the beach while waiting for our food. The meal was absolutely delicious; there is only option for everyone, which seems limiting but it was a great quality spelt risotto with chicken, grilled tomatoes, foccacia and fennel for veggies - and the whole of my fussy family loved it! The Hidden hut has such a lovely shabby chic vibe, the staff are really friendly, and overall its one of my new favourite places on the Roseland. And the nicest touch of all.. they brought round little hot water bottles to keep us all warm :)

“A REAL GEM”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2014

OK.... what do you expect from a beach hut café? Not much I imagine. well at this place you can have very good real food cooked fresh from local ingredients right on the beach, and at £7-9 a plate... a real winner. We ate pulled pork with sautéed pots and green salad, lamb shank with cous cous and tabouli, fresh cakes, posh pop and with great coffee. so good the first time, we went back again the following day, really friendly staff.... you really should go if you're in the area and looking for a beach (which is great too, btw).
