“Rugged alfresco feast!”
Reviewed April 3, 2013 via mobile

We against visited THH on Soup Sunday. We were greeted with a sunny smile and Devine aromas.
The children had pasties and we had parsnip and cox apple soup all washed down with a delicious cup of lovely hot chocolate.
Despite the freezing wind we enjoyed our alfresco feast and urge anyone passing to pay them a visit.
Best Hut in the World!

“Definitely worth the journey!”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

I have been following The Hidden Hut on Facebook for sometime and always promised myself a visit. So, when New Year's Day 2013 promised to be fairly sunny...my mind was made up! My sister and I drove the 72 miles with our expectations running high and we weren't disappointed. Stunning location and lovely food - tender braised venison and a delicious vegetable stew...well worth the drive. Seems another 248 people also decided this was their new year destination and The Hut had a busy day and food was in short supply for later visitors. So my advice...get there early to avoid disappointment...we will surely repeat the experience soon.

“Hidden gem!!”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

What a fantastic place!

We visited the Hidden Hut twice during our stay in Cornwall and it really is a delight. The food is simple but delicious and reasonably priced. My daughter loved the hot chocolate (with all the trimmings!!). Word of warning...it is incredibly rich so even adults might be better off with the children's size! They start taking lunch orders at 12 (soups, salads etc) so be quick if you want to avoid a queue. There is not a huge menu but what there is is yummy.

We found it worked well to get to the beach early and enjoy the morning, have lunch from the Hidden Hut and then leave early afternoon.

It is a bit of a walk from the main car park but it is sooooo worth it. The beach is wonderful and the HIdden Hut is the icing on the cake! We will definitely be back and would happily recommend.

“A gem of a place that fits its environment like a glove”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

We were spending the weekend with friends who'd just bought a house round the corner and on their advice arrived a day early so as to catch one of their Autumn Feasts. So we had been forewarned that it was 'rather good'.

Well it is rather good - rather excellent, in fact. The pheasant & chestnut lasagne (you get what they give you - there's no choice) was delicious, hearty fare flecked with a generous portion of lean pheasant chunks - big enough to make their presence felt against the rich sauce and the perfectly al dente pasta sheets. We returned the next day at the end of a bracing coastal walk to fortify ourselves with thick slabs of cheesy focaccia and crumbly home made pasties.

But the great thing about The Hidden Hut is not the simple but perfectly executed food. It's not even the cheeriness, helpfulness and professionalism of the chef and his 'team' (who when they weren't helping us recover a floating cork from the depths of our BYO wine were scurrying around taking photos for all the diners, whilst serving the food and stoking the dune-top brazier). What really makes it a 5-star venue is the way it so perfectly fits its location - both the hut itself and its position above the beach. It doesn't try to overstretch itself by offering multiple choices. It knows its place. You like what they've got - buy it, it'll be delicious. You want something else? Tough. Quality not quantity or breadth.

No doubt the team will have opportunities to move up to something bigger - or maybe to expand here. But if that happens I do hope they retain the philosophy of 'keep it simple, do it well'
