We had a table of 4 round table.... that was just the start of an excellent meal... service people and attention to details. Love everything on the menu... the owners are also there if you ever need anything

“still a place to go”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

I have eaten at Tim Scafer's since it opened.... back in the day when Tim was the "beer chef" and hosted beer tasting diners. Tim's long gone but this restaurant has maintained a high quality menu over the years

Usually the list of specials is long and varied but the "regular menu" is always good starting point.
Fish is always well prepared and very fesh. The steak, short ribs, pork chops are all good choices

It is possible that this restaurant is a little too steady and could break out of the mold every once in a while. Some of the dishes- flash fried calamari for example - were cutting edge 15 years ago but are not groundbreaking now- other retaurants have copied the dish. It is still better prepared here than almost anywhere else- it's just not "new".

The decor- okay it needs to be updated but it is comfortable especially during the week when the retauruant is less crowded. On weekend when it is crowded it can be loud- but so can almost every retaurant in Morristown with only a few exceptions.

Tim Schafer's still serves unique, well made American cuisine in a casual atmosphere. A BYOB with a good staff and a very goo menu. If it seems a little less "out of the box" these days it may be just because it has served such exceptional food for so long it gets taken for granted.

“NNot what it used to be”

Food has been going "downhill" for a while - nothing new and service was mediocre. Very nice staff, but when full they cannot handle the crowd.

“Walk in from the Hyatt, walk out frustrated.”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

We held our wedding rehearsal dinner here, for a party of 18. While making reservations, the staff was very polite and helpful. After arriving and having our drinks served, it took an hour and a half before our order was taken. Large party or not, waiting hours for food is not acceptable. The waiters also got nasty when my husband asked them to hustle it along. Further, the pricing is wildly different from that listed on their website. Entrees were at least $10 more per person than listed. That said, the food was fantastic. I imagine that with a smaller group the service would be better but we will not be returning.
