How this place is rated 13th best in Morristown I have no idea and give me reason to question the validity of the ratings. This restaurant is certainly in the top three for sure, and in my opinion clearly the best in town. It is the first restaurant that approaches the level of quality and professionalism you find in NYC. From the beautiful setting and very well trained staff to the great meal, soup to nuts, Blue Morel really excelled. We had some very fresh sushi appetizers and for entrees a perfect lamb steak and sea bass. The wine was affordable and dessert was a chocolate brioche that was just right. A special blend of Hawaiian coffee to top it off. Our waitress Zoe was spot on and when we were leaving Richard at the front gave us a tour of the private dining room and we had a nice conversation about the wonderful wines on hand. He was friendly and professional. I will be back here for sure. Not cheap but you get what you pay for and more here. A+++

On Thursday March 13, 2014, the Blue Morel hosted a wine dinner featuring the wines of O. Fournier - a global enterprise with wineries in Spain, Argentina & Chile. Our group of four had been to the O.Fournier winery in Mendoza, Argentina where we enjoyed a wonderful multi-course meal paired with the top of the lines wines they are producing there. When we saw the event at Blue Morel, we had to go.
The owner of the winery, Jose Manuel Ortega Fournier was the host. His story is fantastic - his family was in the playing card business in Spain for 150+ years and he has created his wine company with a passion & verve that was evident. The food paired with the wines was terrific, especially the Korean style sirloin and the tea scented duck.. Wines from all three countries were poured & Jose told us that the Spanish wine (a fantastic Ribera del Duero) was being served for the first time in the U.S. What a treat.
Everything was wonderful - the food, service & wine - and the group in the wine room was very nice. Carlee was celebrating a special birthday & we all sang!
Once again, Richard did a great job and Melissa (the wine distributor's - Martin Scott - saleperson) put together a convivial & entirely enjoyable evening. We have gone to these wine dinners before at the Blue Morel and this latest one did not disappoint at all. Well done!

My wife and i enjoyed breakfast at the Blue Moral while staying at the Westin Governor Morris. I am a huge Eggs Benedict fan so I had the option with crab cakes. These guys do Eggs Benedict the right way, with three eggs over a huge crab cake. The Hollandaise sauce was perfect, and the eggs were cooked just right.
The decor and atmosphere for the restaurant is comfortable and nicely done. Service staff were very friendly and attentive.

My boyfriend made a reservation for us at Blue Morel for our Vday dinner. We were both really looking forward to the night as we've never been and looking at their $89 pre-fix menu all the dishes sounded quite appetizing. Unfortunately we had a waiter that just seemed like he didn't want to be there. He spoke all the right words but he was not at all friendly or accommodating, I actually felt uncomfortable asking him for anything. We wondered whether he just had a bad day. Perhaps with the pre-fix menu stipulating that a 20% gratuity will be automatically added to the bill, this guy just figured he didn't have to really do his job! As the evening wore on, things just got worse. Our 2nd course meal was WAY too salty. The manager came by and we said we wanted to swap them out for something else, which she accommodated. Our main course was OK but my BF's meal was cold. For dessert the ice cream tasted freezer burned. Overall, the quality of the food was just 'average' and we were unlucky with our server. What should have been a really special evening turned into a real awkward dinner. For the amount that they charged and the automatic add on for gratuity, we should have expected much better service and slightly better quality food. We will not be going back.
