The film at the museum was excellent. Also enjoyed the tour to the Ford Mansion. Learned a lot and interesting. If you like history, you will love this. It really hits home how we are now a very blessed and spoiled people.

Washington's Headquarters Museum and Ford Mansion are run by the National Park Service.
The two sites are 100 feet from each other but since the museum opens at 9 am and tours of Ford Mansion run at 10, 11, 1, 2 and 3, I would jump on the Ford Mansion tour first if I arrived at 10 or later. Only 20 per/tour so get your tickets accordingly. Tour buses show up and tours get booked fast. Tours of the Mansion cost $4 for adults (16+) years or older. Tours are conducted by Park Rangers who are well versed to handle questions. There is an extensive collection of Revolutionary War artifacts some of which belonged to George Washington himself. This was Washington's Headquarter's from 1779-1780 while 10,000 Continential Army soldiers were camped at Jockey Hollow. Jockey Hollow is only 7 miles away and worth visiting to get a full picture of this period in American History.

This is where George Washington and his personal staff (including young aide de camp Alexandeer Hamilton) lived in cramped quarters with the Ford family for two critical years during the American Revolutionary War. Tours are provided by US Park Rangers and various family members and I have enjoyed excellent lectures given by Ranger Pam.

First visited the excellent visitor center and museum. Enjoyed the extensive exhibits and film. Took a guided tour of the Ford Mansion (Washington's HDQ during the winter of 1979-80) with volunteer Alison who did a fantastic job. She asked us questions, made us think, and kept us entertained. Have your kids do the free junior ranger program and earn a badge.
