Reviewed August 21, 2013

We had not been to the White Horse for several years, when we remember it being hosted by a jolly and friendly large lady and a crew of rather attractive young girls behind the bar. There have been changes there since and we popped in for a drink and possibly a snack at lunchtime. There was no evidence of anyone serving behind the bar and only a two or three sole drinkers on our side of it. After I had perused the offerings and waited for a few minutes a door opened and a woman appeared from within, only for her to be accosted by one of the chaps sitting on the customer side of the bar - who it turned out was staff (the landlord??) and who had apparently, whilst I was standing there like a lemon, been studying some papers pertaining to a recent delivery which he obviously was not happy about. My interest to him as a potential customer had been obviously non-existent. They both continued to ignore my presence waiting at the bar and began discussing various points about their delivery. Exasperated, I signalled to my wife who was by now sitting expectantly at a table, she put her coat back on and we beat a hasty and embarrassed retreat to another more receptive and friendly hostelry in Cromer - not too hard to find.......................Question - why are more and more pubs closing on a regular basis? Answer - those that are professionally run by adequately skilled and equipped people are not!

I apologize for not realizing that you were waiting to be served. I remember the incident where I was called away to deal with a situation and I didn't realize until you left that you had not been served. I apologize once again and hope this has not put you off visiting us again.

Just had a one night stay and we were unable to fault the place. On arrival we were welcomed by friendly staff and shown to our room which was spotless and identical to the photos on this site. We did not have an evening meal at the inn as we were meeting family but if the breakfast was anything to go by it would have been well worth it. The breakfast was everything you could want, cereals, fresh fruit, full english, toast and marmalade and tea or coffee.

We would have no hesitation recommending The White Horse for its friendliness, cleanliness, comfortable bed and value for money. Will definitely be our first choice for our next visit to Cromer.

Booked last minute, very welcoming on arrival. Shown to a superb room (5) which has plenty of space and beautiful pristine white bed linen. Chose to wander down to the beach which took us 5 minutes to walk to. Everything is really close to the pub. Went back at about 8pm and had dinner, superb salads with a wide variety of other mains to choose from. Service was attentive and food tasted really fresh. Went down for breakfast at 8.30am to find cereal, yoghurt and fresh fruit waiting, met by the owner who couldn't do enough for us and ordered 2 full English which were fantastic, coffee and tea served pots and was plenty. Would highly recommend staying here, the only niggle I would have is that the shower tray needs cleaning by the door and the grouting and that's being picky! If I come back to cromer I will be staying here again!!!

We had a couple of meals in here and both were excellent. The Food was well cooked and the portions were good and generous. I had the Chilli Nachos the first time and was very impressed with them. Decent Portion of Nachos nice chilli and decent Cheese....yum.
The next time I had a Cheese Burger which once again was very tasty. The Staff were really friendly and the customers very welcoming. Good selection of beer at decent prices and will definitely eat there again. May look at staying next time we are visiting Cromer.

Me and my partner decided on a weekend trip away and on a whim we travelled into cromer. After having a lovely pie and chips in the white horse we booked a double room for the weekend. We couldn't have wished for anything better. Clean, fresh room with a lovely full fry up the next morning. The pubs customers were friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. We definitely know where we'll be booking into when next in cromer.

Room Tip: Ask for the double with the stairs into the bathroom if possible.
