“Not really a zoo, more of an animal entertainment centre”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

Lovely setting in woodland but that was about it! Some of the enclosures were just about adequate but many seemed so wrong. A pair of horned Owls were in a pen that is suitable for a dog pen. One of the Owls was distressed and obviously unhappy. We took our time to explore as we are both animal lovers and took in all the enclosures in great detail. Im sure they are all within RSPCA guidelines ( but that is another story, the RSPCA are a disgrace) but are in no way pleasant to encourage happy living for the creatures.

“Lovely little zoo”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

This is only a small zoo, but it does it well. We really enjoyed the flamingos wading about in the lake - the most animated flamingoes we've ever seen in zoos. The monkeys were also having fun in the trees on their islands, and it was nice to see the maras running about the place. The children enjoyed the playground and the tropical house.

“Depressed animals”
Reviewed June 3, 2013 via mobile

Only takes an hour and a half to walk around the whole place and that is if you walk very slowly. Extremely overpriced.
We were shocked to see the state the pens and enclosures were in. The animals look depressed and not cared for. Most of the enclosures stunk of urine and the amount of faeces left for the animals to walk around in was horrendous. The owners of this place do not seem to care about the welfare of the animals at all. Instead of having a nice day out we left feeling very sorry for the poor animals, especially the cats.

“natural settings”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

I have visited the zoo park at least 3 times and have thoroughly enjoyed my visits. The monkey island is particularly good. Nice natural settings for the animals. The indoor tropical house was excellent too. Great cafe, where you can sit on the balcony and watch the monkeys swinging through the trees. We enjoyed a lunch of nicely prepared jacket potato and salad, which was reasonably priced. There was a good playground for the children, plus a well stocked shop. As venues go, this one was not expensive and various leaflets from the Tourist Information office had money off vouchers to use against the admission fee. The venue is described as a zoo park, rather than a fuuly fledged zoo and it makes a great half day out.

“Best Avoided!”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

We were unsure whether to make this trip due to the other reviews written but in the end were persuaded by our two children. We paid 34 pounds to get in (receiving a 4 pounds off thanks to a voucher in the local paper) and after taking only 90 mins to walk round thought it was a complete waste of money. The children were happy enough as they managed to see all the animals, but to those who care for animals the only reason for this is because the enclosures are far too small for our liking. It is true the cats pace up and down their enclosure, clearly bored. Some of the animals do not look in prime condition and their enclosures do not look as clean and as well kept as I'm use to seeing. Perhaps me and my family are spoilt having Whipsnade Zoo and Woburn Safari on our doorsteps but the animal welfare in these places far exceed Amazona. Will not visit again and would not recommend to friends and family
