Lovely hotel, old fashioned and extremely comfortable. The staff were remarkably helpful and the breakfast and evening meal were second to none. We only stayed one night but wish it had been longer and will return!

We called in to get light refreshments and to have a look around. We entered the hotel by the hotel entrance only to find just a corridor and no reception desk. The interior had a hospital like feel to it, clinical and angular. We found the bar and ordered some drinks. We also enquired about taking away with us a printed hotel rate card of fees, but none was available. We were given a leaflet with hand written average rooms rates but nothing specific. The lady that served us was helpful but a bit disorganised. We did not feel valued as potential guests of the hotel. We did not find the building inviting or cosy. The modern function room that is bolted onto the old building was set up for a function, so perhaps that was taking the staff's attention away for "walk-ins". I am not sure if we would stay at this hotel as the rates seemed a bit high for what was offered. We asked if the rates quoted included dinner bed and breakfast, and were told that they covered only bed and breakfast. The hotel was located in a quiet area but had no local facilities within easy walking distance, so was a bit isolated, which of course some visitors may like. The building was surrounded by trees and had no views into the distance or of the sea nearby. We would not be attracted to the pictured menu food just because it is presented in a modern ponsey artistic way. Would we stay here? Probably not as our gut feeling is that it is overpriced for what is on offer. If it had a swimming pool then that would be a different thing altogether.

Northrepps Country Hotel was a nice experience, with very good service and lovely and peaceful environment. Great waking up in the morning to birds singing, with barely any other sounds - that's how peaceful it was. Rooms were very clean and cosy, bathroom also a good standrad with nice bathtub and perfectly functioning showers etc (this is not always the case when travelling in England!) Restaurant was also of good standard. If you are looking for peace and quiet and a nice place to relax, Northrepps Country Hotel can be warmly recommended. Though the hotel is a bit out of the way, it is well located vis-a-vis the North Norfolk places to visit and a good base.

This was our second visit to Northrepps Cottage and it was just as lovely as last year.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful.
The restaurant is well worth trying.
Cannot fault the hotel.

Had a 3 night stay at this lovely little hotel. All of the staff could not have been more welcoming and the manager even went home to get me an extension lead for hair dryer.
We stayed in the Sir Humphrey Repton room which was quite large with a lovely big bathroom (shower).
We did not have lunch or dinner there but the breakfasts were delicious, cooked to order.
Would highly recommend.

Thank you so much for your comments- it was lovely to speak to you both, your husband had some lovely stories of his hotel career. Please give me a call at the Hotel if you come back to North Norfolk and we will happily look after you again.

We stumbled across the Northrepps Cottage by accident as traffic was diverted due to the Cromer Carnival to go right past the hotel.

later, after a very pleasant day on Overstand beach we decided to try it for supper.

Although we turned up rather late (soon after 8 pm) and in rather ad hoc attire, the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Very civilised drinks at the bar and took our menu choice there; we ate in a slightly odd annexe to the dining room; food was served promptly and all choices universally applauded before being demolished.

You can expect to pay around £25/head for 2-3 courses with (restrained) drinks.

This really is a splendid place, a kind of oasis of civilised tranquility apart from the seaside bustle of Cromer and the buttoned-up restraint of Overstrand (which for all the charms of its beach and prom do not have a single restaurant open in the evening).

Room Tip: I suspect if we had been more formally attired (like not in shorts and t-shirt for me !), then we mi...

As the weather was so hot and sunny we decided on a short break in Norfolk, Sunday to Wednesday at the beginning of July. We stopped off for a lovely few hours in Sandringham before reaching the Northrepps Cottage Country Hotel in the early evening. We had to go through to the bar to find a member of staff to check us in, but this was done with no problem. Our room was large and spacious with a super king size bed, modern bathroom with toiletries supplied; tea and real coffee were available in the room. We sat in the lovely gardens for a pre-dinner drink and then ate in the hotel restaurant. The food was excellent and hot, costing approximately £50 or so for two courses, one dessert and a glass of wine each.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and obliging and the breakfasts were delicious. We found the hotel a little bit "out on a limb" as to being able to walk to other restaurants etc but we knew this before we went, but we found it an excellent base for travelling round Norfolk, and returning to childhood holiday haunts!

All in all, a very enjoyable stay.
