Northrepps Cottage Country Hotel

Reviewed March 30, 2011

We recently stayed at the Northrepps Cottage Country Hotel to celebrate our daughters birthday. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff. All the rooms we booked were beautiful. The food in the restaurant was of a very high standard and we fully intend to go back again. It is nice to be able to say that about a hotel.

Stayed at Northrepps Cottage for one night.
The hotel was until recently a private house, and the family are now running it as a boutique hotel. Our room was small but well furnished with a comfortable bed, large flat screen TV, tea & coffee, biscuits. The bathroom (actually a shower "wet room") was again small and had a heated towel rail which we could not turn off, so it was pretty hot in there! As the hotel is a little way out of Cromer, we had a drink in the bar and ate at their inhouse restaurant "Reptons" Everything was of very good quality with friendly service. Although not attempted, their assiette of desserts looked pretty sexy. Breakfast starts at 8am, you may be asked if you are "coming down early" I replied "not too early" but next morning at 8.30 they were not ready, and had been told that nobody would be eating until 9.30. However, this was not a problem, and the friendly day staff quickly got everything prepared....plenty of fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, and a great "full English" To avoid confusion I guess it's best to state when you intend to turn up!
Overall, an enjoyable stay, and would happily recommend to others

We decided to get away with our 10 week old daughter so booked at the last minute and were lucky to get the last room. The room was very comfortable and although not huge there was ample room for the baby (we've been to chain hotels which have put z-beds in smaller rooms and said they are suitable for a family). We were very well looked after by the friendly staff and really enjoyed the food. Having the baby with us wasn't an issue, she came along to the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and was welcomed by staff and other visitors alike. There were a few tiny points which could be improved - there wasn't any fresh decaf coffee in the restaurant, only instant, and the tea/coffee/milk in the room weren't replaced for our 2nd day. These are very small niggles and didn't spoil our enjoyment at all. We intend to go back as we think it makes a great place to have a break.

Northrepps Cottage is a lovely traditional building near the North Norfolk coast that has been recently refurbished and opened as a "bijou luxury hotel". It has a lovely atmosphere and bags of potential. With just seven bedrooms, it appears that they are concentrating on the restaurant and event side of the business. We had an excellent dinner but breakfast was nothing special with no fruit offered and only a limited choice. Our bedroom was generally well equiped but had no hanging space, so not good for anyone wishing to hang their clothes. The location makes a lovely setting for a special event but at £60 each for B&B, there are others that offer better for just an overnight stay.

The standard of the accomadation was great, the food was very well prepared and the property was situated a quite clearing in the woods. Only an odd car would pass by so for the rest of the time it was so quite 'you could hear the birds breathing'.
A beaufiful peaceful few days. Just the thing to unwind from the stresses of life.
