We booked this hotel as a last minute family holiday. Our party comprised four adults in two rooms – 2108 and 2308. The holiday was booked through Jet2 holidays staying for one week commencing 1st July 2011. We selected this hotel based on the positive reviews on this site.
As other reviews have stated the AES Club Hotel is a brand new hotel having opened about the beginning of June this year. It is located about 400 metres off the main road in Ovacik which for us was ideal. The centre of Hisaronu is about 15 minutes walk away.
Overall we had an excellent holiday and would certainly make this hotel our first consideration when visiting this area again.
It should be borne in mind that this is a small four star hotel and not one of the five star luxury types found elsewhere in Turkey.
There are a number of “teething” problems that it is only fair to mention:-
The room cleaning service needs to be improved – my daughter’s room received no attention for two days and we had to ask for cleaning service and change of towels. Bed linen appears to be turned over instead of being changed. The room floors are of a laminate type of material to facilitate easy cleaning – it was noticeable that this did not include under the bed. I feel that the number of cleaning staff needs to be reviewed as our room often did not receive attention until late afternoon.
My daughter had a ground floor room and found significant areas of damp on the walls and skirting and in the shower.
We booked on all inclusive basis and it should be noted that the alcoholic drinks covered in that package at this hotel are local beer, local wine, raki and local gin and vodka. No problems with local drinks! – Unlike other local all inclusive hotels, this hotel does not include cocktails – not even made with local liqueurs - except at an additional cost.
If you wish to keep your room on the day of your departure because of a late flight be aware they charge £15 per person for the privilege.
In the scheme of thing the above are minor matters that have been brought to the management’s attention.
We found the food to be excellent and plentiful with a good choice and geared toward local dishes.
For those needing the full English fix of a morning, afternoon or night there are plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes doing all day breakfast for £2.
The hotel had a good mix of age groups and in my view is a good choice for families.
Ronaldo and his friends in the entertainment team really do their best and try to involve everyone in the fun and games without being intrusive. Remember this is a small hotel and they want you to get the best from your stay. If you want more lively action Hisaronu is only 15 minutes walk away.
The local dolmus bus stops on the main road. The fare to Olu Deniz is 2.75 Turkish Lira (£1.10p) each way and to Fethiye is 3.50 TL.
Overall, if you are looking for a good self contained family hotel which is within easy reach of the lively action if you want it, then the AES Club Hotel should be high on your list.
