Our first time staying at the Kurt apartments. The staff were very helpful and kind, the cleaning ladies did an excellent job, such as putting roses in some water for us, without us asking, and leaving things so nice and tidy. Mr. Kurt was a lovely, and Kurt junior wasn't that bad, he didn't get moody with us when we didn't go to his bbq and entertainment night. The boat trip was wonderful, i would definitely reccomend it, but not with the Kurts, as other places dotted around are much cheaper. I would not stay at these apartments again as we had a few issues with having enough towels, and our aircon was broken for the first few days. Although i would not stay there again, i wouldnt suggest anyone to not stay there.

Room Tip: 2nd or 3rd floor reccomended

i have stayed at the Kurt 4 times, its a family run place and people go back year after year. I decided for a change to go to the Golmar Hotel near the beach this year and last year a different resort so all in all have not stayed at the Kurt for 4 years but we always pop in and have a drink and we are made most welcome everytime. It is ideal for families and away from hasseling waiters. The appartments are cleaned each day, i know this because my friends go there twice a year. i have looked at reports of feeling uneasy about not eating at the Kurt or taking food past memebers of staff to your appartment why? its your holiday, you spend your money were and when you like you work hard enough for it. I eat were i like and dont like hassell which has put me off Icmeler now as i feel it is getting like other places in Turkey, but if you are going to Icmeler give this place a go it is very nice.

Room Tip: only 3 floors so you carnt go wrong all facing the pool

We have just returned from our 1st visit to the Kurt Apartments and also our 1st visit to Icmeler, we are a family of 4 with 2 children aged 9 & 11 so would like to leave a fair and honest review of our stay.

We arrived at 5:00am after a very long and tiring nights travelling we were greeted by young Mr Kurt who promptly showed us to our room.

Room:
First impressions were that that it was clean and functional with a good sized balcony and everything we would need for our stay (toaster would have been nice though) the beds proved to be very comfortable and seeing as it was so hot the aircon was a must (charged at £5 per night), we was in the smaller block of apartments that also had the safe in the room which was more convenient than being in the reception, so overall the room was great and easily met our expectations.

Pool:
The pool is a great size for the size and number of apartments with plenty of sunbeds and Mr Kurt had more available if needed so absolutely no need to get up at silly o'clock to put out towels or anything and being that every room was occupied as it was peak season after all this was a pleasant surprise, the pool is all one depth at 1.65m so young children do need to be watched but there is a small paddling pool. The pool and pool area is spotless and cleaned throughout the day and the Kurt also has an automated pool cleaning machine that works its way round the pool on a night so very clean water and pool.

Bar & Restaurant:
We had a full English Breakfast nearly every morning which was fantastic and very well presented and at 8TL was good value, we did go out a couple of times for breakfast but found that breakfast at the Kurt was the best. One night we did stay in and had an evening meal which was very good and reasonably priced, but we preferred to go out into the town on an evening, we could have gone to Mr Kurts Turkish night which he puts on once a week but declined however we did speak to some people who went and said it was very good with good entertainment, bar prices and ice creams are around the same price as in the town.

Location:
In the Old Village towards the back in really pleasant and quiet area, but close enough to the town and beach to easily walk everywhere 5 mins to town centre and 10 mins to beach through some lovely streets taxi back from the beach if needed cost 10TL.

Atmosphere:
Very relaxed both by day and evening, there was a great mix of people staying at the Kurt couples, families, Brits and Dutch with also a few Turkish Families all very nice People and everyone enjoying the Atmosphere and making new Friends.

Overall:
We had a great fortnights Holiday in both the Kurt apartments and Icmeler, had some great fun boat trips, jeep safari, met some great people, enjoyed fantastic food awesome weather and of course great Turkish hospitality. we will almost certainly return to Icmeler and when we do we will be staying at the Kurt Apartments again as it was a great base to explore Icmeler, and Mr Kurt gave us his brochure before we left with some very attractive prices if we was book directly with them and source our own flights.

I've read in previous reviews about hassle people have experienced from the Kurt family to spend money ect, this was absolutely not the experience we had the Kurt family was polite and tried very hard to make our stay fun and pleasant, we also never saw or spoke to any other people who had any hassle at all, Mr Kurt asked us a couple of times if we would like to go to the Turkish night which we declined and they was fine with this. I think if you are fair and spend a little money there ie couple of drinks or ice creams, odd breakfast or meal they seem happy with that as I don't think they get very much from the tour operators for the room booking so obviously they need to try to make some money from your stay.

So if your'e reading this having already booked to go to the Kurt Apartments don't worry and enjoy your precious Holiday Time you'll have a ball, if your'e thinking of booking I hope this review helps with you're decision. :))

After reading previous reviews about Kurt Apartments we chose to go ahead and book here for 12 days as we believed that previous complaints about the manager could be misleading......HOWEVER after the first few days of him being nice to us and trying to help us enjoy our stay it wasn't until we booked a trip with a company that had insurance that things turned sour.

He offers trips from his own little booklet but I recommend highly not to take them as these come without insurance and not correct transfers. For this reason we didn't book with him and he wasn't happy with this and ignored us for the next day until we wanted some lunch. unfortunately my girlfriend hurt herself on one of the trips and needed to go to hospital and get stitches in her foot, when arriving back after 3 hours at the hospital we where ignored by the son but greated by mr Kurt and the brilliant bar staff mustafa. Mustafa then offered us a free main course after the accident. After eating the meal and going to pay for the drinks and desert mustafa checked with his manager if this was ok and we where then charged for 2 set meals when we had only had 1. When we tried to sort this out and explain ourselves he just threw the receipt down and said knock of 10tl (£4) and walked off. Mustafa later explained the manager just wanted more money.

The next morning we asked to move rooms as we where on the 3rd floor and my girlfriend could not walk up all the stairs the manager reluctantly moved us to a ground floor even though we where in a room that slept 8 when it was just the 2 of us and there where 11 four bedded rooms free.

A number of bars have a free shuttle service to and from your hotel if can get hold of one of there leaflets and buy a phone card which is worth the money as hardly goes down. We where introduced to this service by a couple at the apartment that had seen us not be able to leave the apartment due to my girlfriends injures and where having every meal at the apartment. When we where told that the manager would ring the bars for you to use the shuttle, however when we asked he refused to call as he told us he offered food at his hotel. In other circumstances we could understand why as you could sort out the lifts yourself but as my girlfriend suffered to walk far we werent able to get out and get hold of the leaflets and we just wanted to be away from the apartment and see icmeler as we where spending a lot of money having breakfast and lunch in the apartment as couldn't leave....it was self-catering after all!

Every Wednesday the hotel puts on a Turkish styled night and as we arrived on Monday we said we would wait until the following Wednesday to see if we had enough money as was 80tl for the 2 of us which we thought was expensive so thought we would wait and see if it looked worth it. When watching the first Turkish night of our stay we noticed that after having the meal which did not have as much Turkish food as advertised you then had to pay 10tl per act (3acts) so the night ended up costing 110t. This was so the acts where paid for by the guests and the 40tl you pay to attend the night went straight to the manager. Guests are not told they have to pay for the acts until they are finished.

Whilst sunbathing on the 9th day of our 12 day stay with my girlfriend still struggling to walk and not able to do anything apart from sunbath had left her iPod under the sun bed whilst going to get a drink. Whilst doing so decided to have a little sleep. During this sleep we received a knock at the door from a concerned friend from the apartment above us who believed he has just seen one of the workers tidy our sun bed up and found our iPod and in doing so looked around and put it into his pocket. When approached if an iPod had been handed in he said he didn't know of anything being handed in. He then came over and looked around the sun bed to try find it with me. During this our friend came down and accused the worker of having the iPod in his pocket and when asked to empty his pockets he pulled out the iPod and pretending like he had found it for me. As he didn't speak great English I waited until the manager arrived after his break. When he finally came back I tried to keep calm and talk to the manager but after not really seeming bothered about my situation and when asking the worker he if agreeded with this he said that the worker had told him he found the iPod for us and then said it must of fallen into his pocket. After getting more and more angry that I was being made out to be lieing I told the manager that I knew the truth and would not spend another penny at the hotel. At this point the manager began to look concerned and wanted to solve it. Showing he was more concerned about the money he was getting and not customer satisfaction. This was disappointing as made things harder for us with my girlfriends injurys. The headphones that where with the iPod also never turned up and never received an apology from the staff. Lesson learnt not to leave anything unattended which was sad as in the previous days of our stay we had been able to have a more relaxed and unattended approach.

On one of the last days a family arrived and where unhappy with the rooms they where given Mr and Mrs Kurt and the manager exploded into a family argument where everyone staying there rushed off to there rooms with Mrs Kurt breaking down into tears and screams whilst the manager just laughed at his mum and walked off. When the family approached the manager about staying just one night to make it easier for everyone he just said I don't care I'm off home now and walked off!

When it came to our last day we where aware that a charge of 25tl would be needed to keep our room when asked if we wanted to keep the room we where told it would cost us 50tl when we knew a couple left the day before paying 25tl. Not having the energy to argue again with the manager we decided to leave the room 5hours early. Having to sit there waiting for our transfer we went and got some food and brought it back to eat whilst we waited. After watching the start of the Olympics the manager just got up and turned it off because we had eaten our own food even though it is self-catering and had no room to eat it in after being asked to pay double! When asked to turn it back on he walked off like a baby muttering Turkish.

In summary I think we have probably had one of the worst experiences we spoke to couples that had returned yearly however we definatly will not be and would advise no-one else to go to Kurt Apartments as after looking at other places close to the centre of all the shop, bars and entertainment at the same price and cheaper. We believe you will get a completely different and more enjoyable holiday going elsewhere!
