“Its not the Ritz but its still a nice hotel in a central location :D”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

We came here between September 19th 2012 to October 3rd 2012.

Right, i have a bee in bonet and need to say something before i give my view. To those who left bad reviews, Next time leave a review about the hotel and not nit pick at your experience outside of the hotel.

Lets start with the slight negatives and this is in no way a bad refelction on the hotel, it is merely something for those wishing to come here to consider when booking. This hotel is not ideal for children as such due to the lack of facilities. The pool is a fairly decent size for the size of the hotel, however it is 6ft deep all the way round, some may find this a problem, i will leave that for you to decide. There is no form of entertainment at the hotel but there are plenty of bars and restaurants with lots of entertaiment, some of which i will mention later on in my review.

Thats the negatives, let me give you the low down. I have to start by saying how for a 2 star hotel how welcoming me my wife & in laws were made to feel. Arriving around 11pm, we were greeted by a young chap called Mehmet (a very popular name in Turkey), he checked us in, we sorted out our air conditioning (70 Lira per week) and a security safe (35 Lira per week) which incidentally is very secure unlike what other people had said. You get 2 keys, 1 key is the master key which the hotel keep, you get the other key which can only open your safe, nobody elses and the only way to open your safe is with both keys at the same time. We had no problems with this and found the hotel very safe. Once checked in mehmet took our bags and showed us to our rooms (pictures are available for you to see). Rooms were cleaned every day without fail too.
Breakfast is very basic consisting of Bread (with butter), cheese, olives, tomato's, eggs, cucumber & jam served between 8 & 10am. If this doesnt fill you up there are plenty of restaurants open in the morning offering breakfast for no more than 7TL.

The rooms are very basic, wardrobes for 2, double bed and bedside tables. There are no tea making facilities however we had no problems getting a travel kettle and buying english tea from the corner shop by the hotel. All rooms have balcony's however one side of the hotel does face the mountain behind so i would recommend asking for a pool side view which over looks towards the beach, altho not visible, its a better view than a mountain :P. The bathroom is also very basic, sink, shower and toilet. while some reviews mentioned about the hot water going off or having luke warm to cold water most mornings, i did only experience this one time but lets be honest, with temperatures reaching 55 degrees in July and 40 degrees in September, trust me, a cold shower is very relaxing and soothing so lets not be picky about that.

I mentioned before about local restaurants and pubs with entertainment. I left reviews for many restaurants we visited in our 2 weeks away however i have to mention 2 restaurants we visited more than a few times. The first is Amigo's. The owner (Fiesel) will refer to you as his good friend and neighbour, why? well because he is literally 20 yards from the hotel. He is the most welcoming and nicest person you could meet. Open from 8am he does some fab breakfasts and evening meals are just as amazing with a 3 course meal (with a turkish meze consisting of bread and dips for free) and drinks for no more than £11. Entertainment in the night is always an eye opener with the bar staff giving you plenty of laughs and its always welcoming to kids with a kids section offering a pool table and other games on offer.

The other restaurant was our favourite. Opposite Amigo's across the road is Richards Place. Every night they always put on some amazing entertainment. Mostly the bar staff will have you up dancing, karaoke and with acts such as tina turner, michael jackson, freddie mercury and much much more, i can promise you many nights to remember and tears of laughter. They also offer an extremely good menu for food and with prices so cheap and many local and imported drinks from 5TL each. I also have to mention you will also get breakfast half price the next morning when eating there in the evening.

With regards to location, you really couldnt be anymore central. situated just off the main strip thru Icmeler where all the main shops, bars and restaurants, a 250 metre walk to the beach and bus stop going to Marmaris (get the orange bus and not the blue bus to marmaris as this is direct, and only costs 2.50TL). The beach is a shingles beach however some sections of the beach when walking into the clear water sea does change into soft white sand. Some sections of the beach charge for the sun loungers at a cost of 3TL all day however some restaurants along the beach have their own sun loungers and are free to use if you buy 1 drink from them (this includes water at 2TL). There are plenty of water sports to do on the beach and also a water taxi to Marmaris which takes about 30-40 mins for 10TL each.

On a final note i cant forget to mention a fantastic bloke who without mentioning him, you will probably walk past him without a second thought. His name is GokHan and his parents Rose and Jim. They run a tour booth opposite Amigo's, next to Richards place called Haco Tours and trust me, they will not rip you off. There are many excursions to do in turkey and many tour operators will charge you the same price as he is to go to them but will cost you loads for extras such as food and drink. Gok gave us some amazing excursions such as Dalyan Turtle Beach for £20 each and with that we had the boat trip, the mud baths, turtle beach and food on the boat. yes we had to pay for drinks but at the same price as many pubs and restaurants, i wasnt complaining as other operators we found were charging double this and with temperatures reaching 40 degrees, you really needed a drink.

I thank you for reading my review, i know its long but i think people should get the complete picture of any holiday resort so they are able to decide if it really is for them.

Stayed at this hotel after mix up with our booking. Having read online history, a little bit wary!! Arrived in beautiful afternoon sunshine. A bit more wary when the bus driver wasn`t sure where to drop us!!! Glad we had a rep on board.
Nice welcome from the manager who booked us in showed us the lift to our room and sorted out our safe key.
Room on the small side but clean and adequate for our needs, bathroom a bit gloomy and dark but no probs with water at all. Shower head broken but immediately replaced on informing manager.
Nice pool and bar area, though we only used occaionally. Everyone seemed to know everyone else and had been going there for years. Met some really nice people.
Typical turkish breakfast, which we were ok with, we did chuckle when guests were bringing in their own boxes of cereal, packs of butter and even jars of nutella!!
Icmeler itself is a beautiful resort with a lovely beach, plenty of free loungers (as long as you purchased a drink or a snack). The turkish lads on the beach work so hard and are so helpful.
Boat trips are well worth the money and we swam in some beautiful waters around the coastline.
Loads of very good restaurants for evening meals, try Waterfall (up the road) or Kerem (on the canal) for really good dining. Amigos on the corner of the road near the hotel was a great little bar/restaurant.
Overall Icmeler has something for everyone and all at affordable prices. We look back to returning, but maybe not next year xx

The Dilhan has been exactly the same for the 4 years we have stayed there. The accomodation is very clean but a bit tired. A revamp needed I think. Saying that it is good value for money and at the end of the day you only sleep there. It is close to the main beach, which we used every day as it gets far too hot around the pool. The breakfast is typically turkish but totally adequate. Because the hotel is small you can make some great friends sat around the bar later on in the evening. Really enjoyed our holiday again this year!!

Just returned from a fortnights stay at this hotel, The plus sides are that although the rooms are only small they are kept spotlessly clean and fresh towels every day, Although I’d read previously that it was hit and miss with the hot water / showers I must say that no matter what time of day/night we decided to use the shower there was plenty of hot water.
sunbeds round the pool were plenty although the ones that were in the sun all day were hard to come by due to the usual problem in most hotels of people claiming them with their towels then not using them until afternoon.
The downsides were there was no banter with the staff(unusual in Turkey) as there was only the barman there who spent more time on his mobile and only occasionally put any music on and volume so low you couldn’t hear it. traditional Turkish breakfast but very basic so went Amigos on the corner every morning for breakfast & last drink at night as hotel bar was boring with hardly anyone there.

Room Tip: Ask for one with pool view as the ones at the back are only about two mts from rock and shrubbery so...

Here i sit at the amigos bar round the corner from hotel. Second year running at this hotel and a basic but clean hotel in a quiet sidestreet. More sunbeds this year but at this small friendly hotel you are quickly chatted to round the pool. I asked for a quiet room and thats what i got. Reg the manager is great and amigos bar round the corner is great value for money with excellent food and lovely staff, you cant go wrong if you eat there.

The Dilhan is worst hotel I've ever stayed in. We arrived at 3 in the morning and was taken to our room by the creepiest man. The room was tiny and dingy, we had no fridge and no windows that opened and had an ants nest. We looked in the bathroom and found mould around the shower curtain. In the morning we complained and got moved to a slightly better room that was brighter and the bathroom was cleaner. The first time we tried the shower it was either freezing cold or scolding hot and if you have a shower at the same time as other people in the building no water will come out! The breakfast was disgusting, all that was provided was a basket of stale bread, cheese, olives, manky tomatoes and cucumber, hard boiled eggs and bowls of jam. The swimming pool looks okay before you get in it but once you get out it feels like there's slime all over you. The only good thing about this hotel is that the cleaner comes in everyday and gives you clean towells and bed sheets. It definitely wasn't worth the £500 we paid, never staying there again!
