Mirage World Resort Hotel
Ranked #32 of 77 Hotels in Icmeler
Reviewed May 17, 2012

I stayed at this hotel in july last year with my cousins aged 18-20. I realise that some things may have changed since then, but I've only just thought about writing a review. I have been to Turkey many times with family, and normally stayed at the Marti La perla in Icemeler however this was my first holiday away technically 'on my own' and therefore wanted a cheaper all inclusive hotel.

There were no problems checking in, it was quick and we were able to go to our room straight away. We booked a family room, which we were told would fit 4 people as we all wanted to be together. We were quite disappointed with the room, it was too small for all of us, there was a double bed, sofa bed and a camping style type of bed all packed in, A bathroom with one shower and a balcony.. Not worth the money.(But did have air con - thank god) So if you can, don't go for a family room, if you're a group of 4.

I personally didn't see anything wrong with the buffet food and I'm quite a fussy eater. I thought there was a good selection and something for everyone. Of course it's going to be a bit repetitive, its buffet style and you get what you pay for! For us all inclusive was the best option, from a drinks point of view, rather than going out and spending money on drinks, we'd drink before we went out.The only criticism I have of the food is that the breakfast was very minimal, not enough choice. This may have changed. But when we were there, It wasn't worth getting up for! Plastic glasses are used for all drinks in the restaurant and outside, but personally I don't have any problem with this, just saves there being broken glass around.

There are two pools to choose from, one quiet pool, with a small bar and then a larger main pool, with the 24hr bar. We didn't have to get up early to put towels out, there were enough sunbeds doted around.. and that was never a problem!

The hotel was very busy with Dutch and Russians, and I don't think we saw one single English person for the whole 10 days we were there. This was at first a bit disappointing as were hoping to make friends and make a bigger group to go out with. But this wasn't much of a problem, we ended up making a lot of dutch friends, and still in contact with a lot of them now!

There are plenty of restaurants a short walk away from the hotel, if you fancy eating out for the night. One restaurant I will definitely recommend is The Majestic Resturant, The food is brilliant, the staff are so friendly and speak amazing english. You can get a full english breakfast for £1 and that's with (english brands e.g. heinz beans) and I would definitely suggest going here in the evening if you're looking for great entertainment whilst having a meal.

The shows at the hotel, for us were very cringy, but I'm sure they would be fine for family holidays and keeping children entertained. There are plenty of bars outside the hotel with entertainment, the only problem for us is that the law is that music/entertainment can not continue past 12pm in Icmeler. However the entertainment staff, organise a 'party bus' each night that costs 10 lira each..which is about £3.50 to take (mainly the younger guests) wanting to go into Marmaris for the night. The nightclubs there are out of this world! Nothing like them in England, so many different features, its crazy! The good thing about going with the staff of the hotel, is that they make sure you are safe and that everyone is brought back. They start rounding people up at around 3am to get back to the hotel. One word of advice would be to drink before you go into Marmaris because the prices in the clubs are RIDICULOUS even for a glass of water!

The staff were mainly friendly, however the photographer was extremely rude and would not take no as an answer! We ended up being pushed into having some photographs done, just to get him to leave us alone. But throughout our stay he continued to make dirty comments to the girls in our group.

Be careful about hidden costs, such as the safe, we were told at the start of our trip that the safe in our room was free of charge, however when we came to give our keys in, we were charged (I can't remember how much now) but It was quite a lot.

All in all we did have a good holiday, mainly because I think, you make the holiday what it is. But if we came back to stay in Icmeler this wouldn't be out hotel of choice.

This is a cheap all inclusive holiday resort and if you go with that in mind you won't be disappointed.
Good points: cleanliness, can't fault the cleaning all areas of the hotel are kept very clean. Rooms cleaned daily and with the exception of one day very well. Food is ok. You're not going to go home raving how good it was but you won't go hungry either. It's cheap enough to stay that you can go out to eat a few times and not worry about getting your money's worth at the hotel. The pools are great. Small one quiet no animation team and has its own little bar. Top pool is bigger with two water slides and animation team. This is also where the main bar is and where snacks are served.
This is the only all inclusive I've stopped at that has a 24hr bar. Yes you can drink for 24 hours every day if your liver can cope. And no there aren't drunks stumbling everywhere it's just nice to have a drink and not worry about the time.
Bad points: food can be a bit repetitive. In high season people coming in at 3 or 4 in the morning being noisy and inconsiderate ( hardly the hotels fault). Can get very slippery around the top pool.
There is a hairdresser, spa/Turkish bath, jewellers and photographer on site. The only ones that keep asking you to try them is the hairdresser and the photographer. Got a couple of photos from the photographer and I'm impressed with the air brushed results.
All in all it's a comfortable clean hotel you won't starve at with good pools

Went from 24 April to 4 May so was quiet when we arrived and getting almost full when we left. Bad bits were:
The rooms were in two blocks, one by the quite pool and one near to the dining room and family pool at the second of these noise levels at night went up especially as it was a 24 hr bar and the music pretty loud. Also the animation team music routine was VERY repetative and the noise carried day and night, I had trouble getting 'Kentucky fried chicken and the pizza hut' out of my mind for days afterwards - agrgg!!!! The animation for adults mostly involved getting audience members to take part in various competitions some a bit embarassing and would have gone down well in a 1960's Bultins camp. Dining room tableware didn't seem to have gone through a dishwasher.
Good bits:
It was great value for money for summer holiday all inclusive hotel. A new servery appeared after a couple of days and a good range of food increased as the hotel filled up. Food was on all day if anyone wanted it - breakfast, late breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks, afternoon cakes, diner and lastly midnight soup which proved popular but was served in the dining room and so rooms opposite had noise and other guests passing late on at night. Also water in our room was on the all inclusive and a large new bottle appeared each day, a good idea as tap water was not drinkable.
Our room was pretty standard but had everything and was kept very clean as were hallways and public areas. Also hallways were carpeted and this kept noise down considerably.
The reviws I read before going mentioned the 'shack' which was the old outside bar for evenings. This was not in use when we went and had been replaced by a new purpose built outside bar and sitting area by the upstairs pool which was pretty comfortable except it proved impossible at any time to escape the thunderous decibels of music and constantly flashing ceiling lights. It would have been a good idea to keep the quite pool bar open in the evening for those old and crusty ones like me to sit and be able to chat in peace!
The hotel photographer specialised in photoshopping his pics and had a rather hillarious poster up displaying the 'before' and 'after' result - so anyone wanting double chins and beer bellies removing get your pics taken by him!
We never found the hotel beach but there is a good public one literally a few minutes away by the harbour so no problems.
The hotel was situated well and surrounded by fantastic mountains at the back which came right down to the grounds. We even had visiting goats looking over the fence at the pool one day.
Icemelar is quite nice and not too big with enough shops etc and loads of hairdressers. Anyone with a beard, like my husband who never shaves, beware as they all wanted to drag him off to the barbers. There is a lovely old part of the village and good front walk which takes you all the way to Marmaris if you like walking . It has a good market which is easier than fighting through the one at Marmaris where you get a lot more hasstle. The water taxis are great and a bit dearer than the dolmas but do regular services to Marmaris and Tunch, a very small nice place just down the coast.

Room Tip: Quite pool rooms quieter at night than dining room block. Dining room block had morning sun so rooms...

Just had a weeks stay, as its early in season things still to settle down. Quite a large hotel in 2 blocks. Rooms fine and clean. Entertainment team good, but shows are dyer!!!. Spa man Mem gives no hassle and will give a good price. Reception staff very professorial and helpful, With the electric going off in restaurant - food cold- and the 'music entertainment' traditional live 2 piece. Food & drink OK but not outstanding. Fresh baked food daily also eggs , pancakes and bar-b-que food. We found plates & dishes tend to be dirty. the bar plastic cups wet.

There are 2 pools, one a quiet pool with a small bar, the main pool and 24hour bar gets very busy in the evening. Lot of earwigs in wicker chairs. The area is sheltered by surrounding hills and is a suntrap. A short walk right outside the hotel is the beach, shops and harbour. Turn left to the town with shops and gardens.
Icmeler market Wednesday be prepared to walk away if its too expensive!!!!

Room Tip: Stella 'drag' show on beach a night out very near. Try a boat trip, lot of sellers so barter...

Had a good relaxing time staying here. The complex is very clean, rooms a bit on the small side but cleaned everyday, clean towels daily and maids were excellent. The restaurant was clean and the food was of a good variety and was hot when the new serving counters were installed. The drinks were all local beers and spirits and were served in plastics glasses around the pool areas which is good for safety reasons. All the staff were very friendly and helpful also well dressed in their uniforms. The beach is about 50 yards away and the scenery is lovely and green on the mountain backdrop. There was not a lot of shops or restaurants open at this time of year, there was a lot of work and changes going on around the resort which will make Icmeler more attractive to visitors.

Room Tip: If you have a late flight home try to get to know someone who will oblige to lend you their room to...

We had a good time at mirage, loved the location - some green hills as relaxing back drop and close enough to shops whilst being quiet enough on beach for a read. Pool was clean, staff were friendly and accommodating. Rooms and decor a bit dated but we didn't go there to look at the wallpaper :-) food was a bit samey day in day out however we ate well and food was fresh and most of it pretty tasty. Drinks were free flowing, and yes you do have to have a plastic glass outdoors; pretty daft not to next to bare feet and a pool I'd say. It was great value all inclusive holiday for last minute price we paid, I'd go again for under 400 quid, cheaper than staying at home nearly!
