I stayed at this hotel in july last year with my cousins aged 18-20. I realise that some things may have changed since then, but I've only just thought about writing a review. I have been to Turkey many times with family, and normally stayed at the Marti La perla in Icemeler however this was my first holiday away technically 'on my own' and therefore wanted a cheaper all inclusive hotel.
There were no problems checking in, it was quick and we were able to go to our room straight away. We booked a family room, which we were told would fit 4 people as we all wanted to be together. We were quite disappointed with the room, it was too small for all of us, there was a double bed, sofa bed and a camping style type of bed all packed in, A bathroom with one shower and a balcony.. Not worth the money.(But did have air con - thank god) So if you can, don't go for a family room, if you're a group of 4.
I personally didn't see anything wrong with the buffet food and I'm quite a fussy eater. I thought there was a good selection and something for everyone. Of course it's going to be a bit repetitive, its buffet style and you get what you pay for! For us all inclusive was the best option, from a drinks point of view, rather than going out and spending money on drinks, we'd drink before we went out.The only criticism I have of the food is that the breakfast was very minimal, not enough choice. This may have changed. But when we were there, It wasn't worth getting up for! Plastic glasses are used for all drinks in the restaurant and outside, but personally I don't have any problem with this, just saves there being broken glass around.
There are two pools to choose from, one quiet pool, with a small bar and then a larger main pool, with the 24hr bar. We didn't have to get up early to put towels out, there were enough sunbeds doted around.. and that was never a problem!
The hotel was very busy with Dutch and Russians, and I don't think we saw one single English person for the whole 10 days we were there. This was at first a bit disappointing as were hoping to make friends and make a bigger group to go out with. But this wasn't much of a problem, we ended up making a lot of dutch friends, and still in contact with a lot of them now!
There are plenty of restaurants a short walk away from the hotel, if you fancy eating out for the night. One restaurant I will definitely recommend is The Majestic Resturant, The food is brilliant, the staff are so friendly and speak amazing english. You can get a full english breakfast for £1 and that's with (english brands e.g. heinz beans) and I would definitely suggest going here in the evening if you're looking for great entertainment whilst having a meal.
The shows at the hotel, for us were very cringy, but I'm sure they would be fine for family holidays and keeping children entertained. There are plenty of bars outside the hotel with entertainment, the only problem for us is that the law is that music/entertainment can not continue past 12pm in Icmeler. However the entertainment staff, organise a 'party bus' each night that costs 10 lira each..which is about £3.50 to take (mainly the younger guests) wanting to go into Marmaris for the night. The nightclubs there are out of this world! Nothing like them in England, so many different features, its crazy! The good thing about going with the staff of the hotel, is that they make sure you are safe and that everyone is brought back. They start rounding people up at around 3am to get back to the hotel. One word of advice would be to drink before you go into Marmaris because the prices in the clubs are RIDICULOUS even for a glass of water!
The staff were mainly friendly, however the photographer was extremely rude and would not take no as an answer! We ended up being pushed into having some photographs done, just to get him to leave us alone. But throughout our stay he continued to make dirty comments to the girls in our group.
Be careful about hidden costs, such as the safe, we were told at the start of our trip that the safe in our room was free of charge, however when we came to give our keys in, we were charged (I can't remember how much now) but It was quite a lot.
All in all we did have a good holiday, mainly because I think, you make the holiday what it is. But if we came back to stay in Icmeler this wouldn't be out hotel of choice.
