This year was my third visit to the resort of Icmeler, the Golmar beach is perfect!

Choosing our hotel –

When booking this years holiday, I wanted to be on the beach front and close to the resort centre, the Golmar was the only hotel on the beach that wasn't all inclusive (I can’t stand all inclusive hotels). I wasn’t expecting much from the hotel as it was on the beach yet reasonably priced I thought it must have been a long walk from the centre, I had also read some bad reviews saying it was dated bla bla bla.

What we thought –

Location .....

The very last hotel on the beach.
Requested a high floor – fantastic view over the sea and the mountains.
Bars and restaurants – start next door and never end! 5min walk to canal street.
Beach – The hotel has a private beach
Domus bus station right at the back of the hotel.

Hotel....

Staff – so friendly, always smile at you and say good morning and night. Pool and beach waiter, very friendly and the bar manager.
Problems – we had a problem with the air con – it was fixed before we got back to the room, we had a problem with the fridge – it was fixed before we got back to the room.
Cleanliness – very clean everywhere – towels changed daily.

Favourite restaurants and bars....

Deniz Kapisi - three doors away from Golmar, sit upstairs over looking the sea listening to live music in the background (perfect)
Cupids – brilliant food, friendly staff – gave us a free coffee and a chat as we was walking past one day.
Canary – top of canal street, good music, the boys can’t do enough for you.

Overall – we had the best holiday while staying at the Golmar, and for positioning, pool, beach and staff we would defiantly return to this hotel and recommend it for bed and breakfast.

Room Tip: Request a high floor if u want a sea view - the 1st floor didnt have one.

Just back from 10 days at the Golmar Beach Hotel.
If you want a fried breakfast and/or a three course British evening meal then go to Blackpool.
This hotel is in Turkey, they serve a Turkish or continental style breakfast. I managed to find something suitable every morning, or there are plenty of restaurants/bars in the area selling a 'fry up'.
The evening meal was nothing startling, there wasn't a great choice. We are all individuals and like different things. They cannot cater for every individuals preferences, but again there are plenty of places to eat nearby and the prices are reasonable.
The Golmar is kept immaculate, the cleaners do a brilliant job. The rooms are cleaned every day and towels changed every two days.
As has been pointed out before the views from the hotel of the bay are fantastic.
The hotel staff are brilliant. Dennis the receptionist speaks great English and is always wiling to help.
Unfortunately, as usual, the Germans are very quick to get their towels on the sun beds, but there are plenty of FREE sunbeds and mattresses available, this includes on their part of the private beach as well as around the pool.
We went the last two weeks of June 2013 so maybe there weren't so many people about.
Ali is 'the man' on the beach keeping you supplied with drinks and food so there is no need to get off your sun bed.
There were no sellers on the beach apart from Ali and his team and the newspaper seller that come's round. None of which were pushy and were very helpful.
This is not a 5 star hotel so don't expect it to be.
We loved the area and the hotel and are already plan our next hotel there for later in the year.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 5th floor have the best views

returned here for the third time in three years and once again had an excellent holiday.. nothing has changed at this hotel for the last three years we have visited... the staff are all very friendly and the owners are always there mixing with the guests... the only gripe I have this year is the big rise in the cost of the air con... last year we paid £4,00 per night and this year for some reason it has risen to £7.00 per night.. almost every guest that I spoke to were complaining about the price.. been to icmeler on many occasions and stayed in many hotels but the golmar takes some beating for a 3 star hotel... the food is of a good standard and a good variety each night... cant really see why some people eat out when they stay here half board... I shall be returning to this hotel for many years to come as you tend to see the same old faces time after time . if your thinking about booking this hotel then there s no need to worry... book and enjoy...

The best thing about this hotel is it's location. If you're looking for a quiet spot, without the booming dance music of nearby bars/restaurants, then this is the hotel for you. Although a little dated, this doesn't matter as it's clean, and the rooms are adequately sized. Another advantage is that it has it's own private section of the beach, which you can use for free, without paying for sun loungers, or getting hassle to buy drinks/snacks.We stayed half board, and my comment would be the dinners became a little repetitive, but there was always fresh salads and a choice of red meat or chicken. Breakfast had a good selection: fresh fruit, cereals, brown/white bread, eggs, cheese, meats, tomatoes, cucumber, olives, yogurt, and a small selection of cooked breakfast.

PLEASE NOTE: Air con is EXTRA. We were there mid July and it was £7 PER NIGHT. I would say that unless you can sleep in really hot rooms, you will need it. Also, the temperature of the water in the showers is very unpredictable, rarely during the 14 nights we stayed there was I able to have a shower at a regular temperature; it goes from hot to cold, especially when other people are using the showers (between 5-7pm).

The hotel staff are friendly, especially Deniz on reception. The evening staff at dinner aren't very talkative or smiley, but you will be too busy taking in the view from your table to notice!

Another bonus of the hotel is that it has a good pool, with a slide which is good fun. However, I got my camera, which was in the side pocket of a rucksack on a sun lounger, stolen in the 15 minutes I was on a slide. So beware of thieves.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you want a good value hotel somewhere a little quieter, want access to a beach which is genuinely free, without being hassled to buy things, and which has a good selection of food.

For you cat lovers out there, there is a very sweet white cat with an injured/unusable front leg who lives on the keyside/pier next to the hotel. She lives in a hole under electricity box number 10/11, and comes out after dark when it's less busy with traffic. As she limps along on 3 legs and can't go very far in search of food, we gave her some scraps of chicken we'd snuck out from dinner, which she always wolfed down. Her friend, a brown/black bloachy cat with a white chest, was given some food too. This cat is very timid but when she gains your trust she loves to be stroked and fussed over, just like a domesticated cat. PLEASE CONTINUE OUR LEGACY and sneak some scraps to these 2 lovely cats.

Eating out tip: If you want to go somewhere a bit different, with great live music and an EXCELLENT level of service, try Apollon, just along the road from the hotel on the left, which does great food/cocktails. They are genuinely friendly, and shake your hand as you leave. We returned a few times, and they welcomed us like old friends.

Room Tip: All rooms face the sea. Rooms from the 3rd floor will have a better view than 1st/2nd floor.

Just back from fab holiday at Golmar Beach Hotel, located in superb position with sea views from ever room, great service and simply wonderful food - went half board and a great decision. Ideal for couples of all ages, couples with young families with adult and childrens swimming pool. However, don't forget to budget for £50 per week for air-conditioning athough some just left their balcony window open - amazingly no mozzies around to bite !

Not long back from Icelemer and what a lovely hotel we stayed in GOLMAR BEACH HOTEL. It was very clean and friendly, we went hb and found there was always something good to eat there, the location is excellent and very close to beach, shops etc. The rooms were cleaned daily and for the price of the hotel I cannot understand why anyone could fault it, definitely going back to this hotel next year.

First time at Golmar Beach, but been many times to Icmeler. Really enjoyed our 10 days here, Room very clean and comfy, cleaners good and friendly. In fact all staff good and very helpful esp Deniz on reception, not forgetting Ali on the beach. these two really helped us enjoy our stay at this hotel and therefore another holiday in Ich was a success. We stayed half board , but as we know the restaurants in Ich are worth a visit, we had a few nights out too. Our only niggle with the Golmar food was it could ve been hotter. We had a smashing time and would reccomend this Hotel.
