“Best in the area- fab holiday!”
Reviewed May 16, 2010

We have just returned from an 11 night stay at the hotel Aqua. After our journey from Bristol to Icmeler we recieved a warm welcome in the hotels beautiful and spacious lobby and were given all the info we needed to start our holiday- a cold meze plate had been set aside for us in the dining room but we didnt take advantage of this as we put our son straight to bed. Room was good size and a gorgeous view over the pool and the bay of Icmeler from the balcony.

Cleanliness and efficiency of cleaners was really good and luckily our room was cleaned early while we were out in the morning. When we went down to breakfast we were impressed by the sizeable buffet- spread through the dining room one area for hot foods, one for cold and one for the gorgeous breads and pastries... dinner was equally pleasing- masses of choice and amazing turkish mezes you wouldnt find if you went to one of the touristy restaurants in the resort. Look forward to our evening meal every night and was never dissapointed.

After speaking to various people in the area it became apparent that the Aqua has a very good reputation and is highly renowned in the vicinity as offering very high standards. The location of the hotel is unsurpassed- sitting bang in the middle of the bay and taking advantage of the superb panormic views of the bay of Icmeler.
I travelled with Thomas Cook- Manos brand and the brochure does not do it justice at all. The hotel is located between the; L'etoile which is more enclosed and set back from the seafront- no open aspect; and the Marti la Perla- entertainment and music was played far too loudly and I was so pleased to have chosen the Aqua. Genuinely a great hotel- the staff at reception were very good and the restaurant staff were attentive and offered a friendly welcome every evening- especially Ali!!
George at the pool was fantastic and never missed a trick-so with it and helpful.
Towells for beach and pool are inclused so dont bother wasting space packing them!!

Lastly- can't recommend Icmeler as a resort highly enough- beautiful beach with private bathing areas for each hotel dotted along the front. The resort is a really lovely size- all flat for walking but set between fantastic mountains- if you brave a drive around the coast- the views and scenery are highly worth it!
A lovely walk to Marmaris for a busy scene if you fancy it- walk parallel to the sea and in front of some of the other hotels in the area under shaded pine trees- absolutely beautiful with little cafes dotted along for a refreshing drink if you fancy it. Then you can jump in a water taxi to get back- these stop right by the hotel.

The canal area is lovely in the evening to walk by and look at jewellery- crafts etc...

All in all a fab holiday- there were 7 in our party including a 3 yr old , mid 20's, 30's and 60's and everyone was pleased!!

This has to be by far the best hotel i & my family have ever stayed in.

We arrived at Aqua in the wee small hours of the morning after a very long day of travelling which was made bad by the long dragged out coach journey (this journey is the only thing that would put me off going back to Aqua) but arrived to a lovely marble reception and had our bags taken from us and escorted to our rooms and taken through to the dining area to be given a nice snack of cold meats & cheese.

Our 1st night was slightly uncomfortable as the room had obviously been all closed up prior to our arrival and it took a while for the air conditioning to kick in but it was a standard room which catered for all our requirements.

The inside & outside of the hotel was kept very clean & the staff were always helpful & friendly. Air conditioning wasn't always on in the main hotel areas & the hallways from the lifts to our rooms were very stuffy & humid.

Beware of the hotels jewelery shop, Europe jewellers, my son purchased a ring from there & i purchased a necklace, on returning home the ring was real but the neckalce was a fake & after many emails, telephone conversations & promises of a refund or a replacement nothing has ever happened. They also have a shop on the street round the corner from the hotel so be warned.

Location is on the sea front, a market is a stones throw away and shops & restuarants are plentyful.
Selections in food didn't vary very much but was hot & tasty & plenty to choose from.

We would deffinately go there again

I dont know what to say about this hotel that hasnt already been said. Its perfect for any kind of traveller, family, friends, couples.
Yes, this is one of the more expensive hotels, but all i can say about that is that its worth every penny. You feel safe and secure, you have fun with the entertainment team, there is something for everyone! the pool is lovely although one downside is that its always quite crowded as it is the only pool this hotel has other than the indoor pool. However, pool man george, helps you out nicely with towels and if you make friends with him he gets you your same spot every morning before you come down.
The restaurant is nice, basic food. nothing amazing, but still definately the best all inclusive food ive ever had. Especially the omelettes and desserts.

The location is probably the best part about this hotel, right on the beach front with its own little section of the beach. pure luxury! i loved this hotel and id go back again in a heartbeat. Ive been to turkey 8 times now and ichmeler and the hotel Aqua is by far my favourite place!

Having stayed at many hotels around the world, Europe, Caribbean, USA etc this was our first time in Turkey - never really fancied it previously to be honest, therefore we were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived in Icmeler.

Icmeler itself is a great little coastal town:
Great beach
Fabulous scenery
Safe to walk around
Fairly unspoilt by mass tourism
Plenty of great trips/excursions/watersports activities
Great for walks along the coastline/ picturesque friendly market area

It has the usual holiday shops and 'fun pubs/restaurants' if that's what you're looking for, but also has some smarter places to eat that are very nice and reasonably priced. We were all inclusive but ventured out a few times for a change of food/scenery.

Hotel Aqua:
+ve
Good standard of accomodation/food
Very friendly attentive staff and animation team
Great private beach front location/views over the sea
Nice pool
Good value

-ve
Food a little repetitive, although you do tend to get this with All Inclusive
Room and bathroom a little small - we shared with our 13 yr old son who had a camp bed for 2 weeks
Evening entertainment a little corny and repetitive

Overall the positive points far outweighed any small negatives and we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Turkey. Our teenage son made loads of friends and adored the animation team. He didn't want to come home, then again neither did we!

the downside room and bathroom size but hey we only sleep in the rooms

the service we recieved was fab the staff were friendly and very hard working

the only other downside pool area towards the end of the holiday got very crowded but the beach is only a few yards the entertainment team bless them worked extremly hard and worked to make your holiday more enjoyable

My husband and I chose this hotel because of the excellent reviews on trip advisor. We are not seasoned travellers and therefore not overly fussy about accommodation and such but even so I found this hotel lacking in nearly every respect.

Granted we went at the end of the season but we would still expect that offered facilities should exist. There was no sailing and windsurfing and very little entertainment and no kids club. After 4 days there they decided to put on some evening entertainment and the first I knew of it, they were asking for 20 lire to buy a bingo ticket (that's not my idea of entertainment). In the town the bars were trying to sell us evening entertainment as they knew we were fully inclusive from the aqua (because of our bracelets) and said that we should come out because it was well known there was no entertainment at that hotel.

There was plenty of dull food which you could eat more or less non stop from 7.30 through to midnight if you wanted to. The waiters only waited if you paid them as it seems they are paid very little to work even though the hotel is not a cheap option.

There was only motorised water sports which you had to pay for and even in season I dont think there would have been any other water sports as there did not seem to be any room for them on the beach. There was a pedalo but you were charged for using that ( must have been motorised). There were 3 lilos you could use though!!!

There was internet in the bedroom but it only worked once in the week that we were there. The bedrooms were adequate and completely characterless. Carpets on floor, air con and 2 single beds pushed together. I felt I could have been anywhere in the world except for the view which was very nice.

Basically if you want to eat mediocre food all day, sit in the sun on a sunbed with free mattress (if you are fully inclusive), otherwise pay for the mattress and swim in a beautiful bay - avoiding the man made beach (crushed concrete or something) then go to the aqua - otherwise find somewhere else.
