stayed at ida again for last week in june. same cleanliness, excellent food, a lovely hotel, we had a ground floor room, which is great for not climbing stairs, but preferred a balcony higher up for more privacy. ate in the restaraunt a few nights as the food is delicious , not because we were asked to ,as others have mentioned. had a great holiday, staff very friendly and efficient, jill on reception was lovely, very helpful . hope to go back soon

After a most enjoyable holiday in June 2012 we couldn't praise the Ida Hotel enough... "last year", so we booked the same for this year or so we thought.
We arrived at reception quite late where we were greeted by the new receptionist Jill, only to be told that the room we requested which we had stayed in last year, when we booked was not available, apparently they don't get any room requests that you make at the time you book?? We were taken up to our brand new room on the new floor where we discovered we had been given a twin-bedded room NOT a double also as requested. But we were promised that as soon as a double became available we would have the option to move. So after a long days travelling my mind focussed on a nice cuppa tea, except there was No Kettle!! or teamaking facilities that we had enjoyed the previous year, and we were told that kettles were no longer supplied even though they are advertised on the Ida website and in the brochure. Also we were told that the "empty fridge" in the room was no longer free for use and was £20 per week to hire, when actually it is advertised on the website as a fully stocked minibar that we were happy to pay for as we did last year. Thankfully the air-conditioning was still included. The next day at breakfast we were introduced to a whole new restaraunt team of waiters headed by Alex & Zsa-Zsa. Ok staff changes are uncontrollable, but as we were to discover during the course of our holiday, this was not for the good of the Hotel and Ferhat the owner must have been scraping the bottom of the barrel when he employed this lot. They were rude, incompetent, unprofessional and made so many mistakes - the food orders were mixed up, we were repeatedly asked if there were drinks we had not paid for, we were presented with other peoples bills and other peoples drinks were added to our bills! Yes, we are all capable of making mistakes, as this was always the reason we were given when we questioned or confronted the waiters. On one occasion I was given 2 receipts for breakfast meals and orange juice that were not mine and when I told the waiter Mehmet he was so rude and he walked out the restaraunt in a strop like a spoilt child and stood over by the fountains till we left the table. We were actually Bed & Breakfast so why would they be expecting me to pay a bill for my breakfast and we never had any bloody orange juice!! In the evenings we liked to eat somewhere different every night although we did have a lovely meal at the Ida on our first night, but as other people have said we were hounded by the staff to eat at the Ida to a point where we felt we had to sneak out through the Bonjour restaraunt next door to avoid being intimidated. During our holiday speaking to other guests we were annoyed to find out that other guests did have tea-making facilities in their rooms, it was the fact that they had booked their rooms direct with the hotel and because we had booked through a travel agent we didn't qualify for the little perks advertised on the website. At the end of the day we had paid our money the same as everyone else, so when I asked Jill again about the kettle I was still told No I couldnt have one. Eventually I did speak to Ferhat who sorted this problem out, gave us a kettle and we were very grateful. On a brighter note we were very pleased to discover that the cleaning ladies were still as efficient as ever, the rooms are spotless and the towels were changed daily. Also our lazy days by the pool were made so relaxing and enjoyable by Nico who works so hard all day along with young Jimmy (Dennis), they are so obliging and nothing is too much trouble for them. They delivered drinks to us throughout the day, served us our dinner and kept the pool area and bar spotless, with a happy face every time. The front of house staff could definately take some lessons in customer service from these two!!
If we were to return to Icemeler in the future, we would definately stay at the Bonjour next door to the Ida where all the staff were pleasant especially Antonio and Ben, and if we discovered that the front of house staff had changed at the Ida next year we might consider a return visit. We were spoilt last year at the Ida because the standard of staff was so high, so come on Ferhat, sort your staff out, listen to what your guests are saying and keep that tripadvisor award that we helped you win last year!!

Room Tip: Dont bother asking for specific rooms, they dont get room requests!! and dont pay extra for the pool...

Just got back from 2 weeks staying at the Ida Hotel. We arrived late but we were met by the lovely Jill who showed us to our rooms. Small and basic but spotless. No kettle and we would have had to pay for the use of the fridge which was in the room (turned upside down?) This didn't bother us as we took our own kettle for our early morning cuppa. Free aircon which was great. We had a good choice for breakfast which was good too. The pool area was spotless and nothing was too much trouble for Nico who attended the pool area every day. Now for the downside, at breakfast, we were made fully aware that the lads who were working did not get paid, they only got commission so we were made to feel bad if we didn't order extras as that would mean the lads were working for nothing. Not our fault! Everytime we left the hotel, we were hassled about eating there. When we told them we ate somewhere different every night it still didn't stop them. Loads of people around the pool said the same thing and that it was making them think twice about coming back to the Ida next year. We were chased from one end of the bar to the other one evening because we hadn't paid our bill from the night before, this was for 1 glass of Fanta. The restaurant manager had a hand full of bills from customers who had left without paying but we had paid our bills every day, only leaving this one until the next day because it had took so long when we asked if we could pay. He shouted out in front of the whole restaurant which really embarrassed us. I would not go back to the Ida but will definitely be going back to Icmeler.

Let me start by saying that we will probably not be going back to Icmeler or the Ida Hotel. After 16 years of going to Turkey and staying in the smaller resorts dotted around the coastline, we as senior citizens found Icmeler to big and brash overall.

That said Icmeler is very well laid out and kept spotlessly clean, with the very pretty little Venice canal area.

The front men (Lizards) at each of the large restaurants are a pain in the butt each time you try and pass their restaurant without going into them.

Now the hotel itself, excellent, about 200 meters from the sea in a pretty square, with fountains and a small green area in front of the hotel. The hotel is faultlessly managed, with attention to detail at the highest level. Upon arrival our shower head would not stay in the upright position, which I overcame with an elastic band. At breakfast the first morning we were approached by Jill, customer relations, who enquired if everything was Ok with our room. My wife told Jill of the shower head issue, she responded by saying she would report it, I said to my wife, forget it, that will not be fixed. How wrong can you be, two days later a complete new shower assembly had been fitted while we were sunning ourselves around the pool.

The cleaning regime in the hotel has to be seen to be believed, two maids go into the bedrooms, one lifts up the bed while the other mops under the bed each day. The bedside cabinets are pulled away from the wall and dusted front and back each day, even the plastic chairs on the balcony are washed and wiped over daily. Towels were changed every day without fail, and my wife feels it was the same for the bedding.

The hotel appears to have undergone a complete refit, excellent bathroom, and colour coordinated bedding and curtains, with excellent air conditioning, which has obviously been factored into the room cost. The same applies to the choice of breakfast, waiter service, about ten choices to choose from, I had an English cooked breakfast everyday which was truly excellent, fried egg on fried bread, baked beans, tomato, fresh mushrooms, back bacon and a sausage, all presented immaculately, not just thrown on the plate.

For a small hotel it is professionally managed, with attention to detail in all aspects of the running of the hotel, it is a pleasure to give such a glowing review, it is well deserved

Room Tip: The hotel is built In the north south aspect rather than east west aspect, or long ways rather than...

Stayed in Ida from 30th May for a week......Well wot can I say everything about it was fantastic clean rooms very spacious and of high quality. Never felt under pressure to stay there or eat there....the food was delicious and in all my times in Turkey I have never ate in the same place for all off my stay but the food was so good we ate there every night......I don't understand people saying they got a good meal in places when it was frozen veg and chips in the Ida everything is fresh and really good. The staff were friendly and never pressurised us to eat or drink there, but I myself feel since at that time of year the rooms are so cheap it's only out of courtesy to at least spend a little bit of money there, these people need to make a living......Well done Zsa Zsa Jill John and all the other staff whom I can't remember there names keep up the good work.......Have booked again half board 30th Sept for 12 nights and will see you for a meal when I'm there in Aug xxx

The IDA was very clean, food average, staff polite, boy on the pool works very hard for the people around the pool and its bar.
We had to fight for a kettle in our room, they did not even give you a plug,in fact we were not allowed to bring water in ,unless we paid 3 lira more at the bar,the waiters always tried to look in you bag when you walked in.

My wife and I had two bad experiences with our meals,so we never ate in the IDA again, and every night one of the waiters would skit at us on our way out, saying catty remarks like hollo, and goodby. We were stopped by the head waiter one evening, he accused me of complaining to the manager, witch was not true.
However it did not spoil our holiday because we found the best, the cheapest, the most welcoming bar withe very nice food and very friendly staff.

Room Tip: All rooms were good the room staff were very helpful and nice young ladies.

Returned on the 7th June after a 18 day stay at the Ida hotel.Been to Icmeler 8 times& this was the best we have stayed at. Everything about it was spot on from the cleanliness of the rooms to the friendliness of the staff . We must disagree with the earlier reviewers remarks about Zsa Zsa .as we did not get any pressure to eat in the hotel ( although we did eat there on 5 of the 18 nights stay ) This was due to the quality of the food and superb service and not down to any pressure from anyone . When we did walk through the restaurant to eat out Zsa Zsa always said have a good night and we hope to see you later for a drink but was not upset if we didn't bother. As I mentioned all the staff from Nico round the pool to John , Mehmut , Ugurr ( wrong spelling I know ) (who patiently tried to teach me a little Turkish ) and all the rest of the staff could not do enough for us . Next time we visit we will be staying at the Ida !!, Brian & Janet
