Just got back today and can't fault the hotel for anything, rooms are quite big and clean, we had a sea view right on the top floor.
The rooms are cleaned everyday and fresh towels left.
The pool area is ok,not that big and there's not enough sunbeds, towards the end oy our 2nd week you'd think we'd been invaded by germans.
The bar offers tuborg and other local spirits which are ok i suppose, the food is basic we did eat out because it's that cheap.
One minor downside is that the hotel does'nt have any entertainment at all, apart from martin the barman playing the same music all the time.
The locaton is great right in the middle of icmeler,5 mins walk from the beach as well, surrounded by numerous restaurant's.
The title says it all about the sunbeds which must be worse in the world, always snapping on people,it was quite funny to start with then got a bit boring, and you was forever worried allday that it would happen to you.
We met some great people at the hotel which made the holiday better.
Overall a good hotel, clean and tidy.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, its at the front, quieter than the back where the bar is,also pool is at the back

Just back from the Vela, dont expect the usual standard of Turkish all inclusive hotels.with al a carte themed restaurants ,cooked to order omelettes etc.Meals are basic, breakfast will include a selection of cheeses, mystery meat slices, eggs of some description, tomatoes, olives cereals, yoghurt. Lunch and dinner, a chicken dish and a meatball dish, fish fillets, pasta, cous cous,a plentiful supply of salad, usual turkish style deserts.Dining room is like a furnace ,but you can eat outside and food in resort is very cheap
Rooms are basic, but functional, good and free air con, cleaned daily,Fresh linen daily.Safety deposit box in room at an additional cost.Shower has an interesting band of silicon around tray but water was hot and plentiful at all times of the day
Location is excellent being in the middle of the village,5 minutes to the beach,An abundance of restaurants shops etc in the immediate area
The staff are excellent and Metin the pool boy, will certainly make you chuckle,he has a wealth of sayings ,Martin the barman is efficient.Sonnear the waiter spot on,Have fun we did!!!!!!

Room Tip: Road side have sun in morning, pool side sun in the evening,Road side, high floor will give a limited...

We arrived to the Vela hotel around 12 at night, check in was very fast and the porter guided us to our room! The room was already air-coned and we definatly needed air-con because it was 35+ degrees every day! The hotel staff and cleaners are very friendly and approachable, Martin the barman is a legend.

The downside to the hotel was the food, breakfast was the worse, boiled eggs every day and we only had beans and scrambled eggs once the whole trip, the rest of the days mainly consisted of a meat based mush, for breakfast! To some up Lunch and dinner, if you like beef and chicken, then you wont go hungry! Chips were often cold aswell!

Overall we enjoyed staying at the Vela hotel and icmeler is very nice apart from limited shops.

I hope this review was helpful

Just arrived home from this hotel 12/09/11 1 week A.I. booked with Olympic Holidays via First Choice. Pros Staff very helpful at all times, excellent location and well maintained. Rooms spotless and cleaned daily also very spacious our room overlooked the pool also great views of the mountains all around. Good aircon we needed it coolest day 34 degrees hottest 38 degrees. Like all hotels there are pros and cons, the only cons for us was that the food was sometimes very samey with dishes being repeated regularly and chips with everything, also the drinks of beer at the pool bar were served in small measures not pints, end of our whinge. All in all a very good hotel which I would recommend to anyone. Many thanks to all the staff for a great weeks holiday especially Martin the Barman cheers mate. Ken & Shirley Hewitt

Room Tip: Room 416 was our room bright airy with brilliant views and little or no noise. Balcony is a sun trap...

The Vela opened in May after a major upgrade and the upgrade made our stay particularly pleasant. Our room was a good size and those facilities you depend on, shower, toilet, and storage and the bed were excellent (even the pillows were exceptionally comfortable).
The room was attended every day and within the week we had the bed linen changed twice and towels four times. The high standard of cleanliness was obvious throughout the hotel, including the pool and poolside. The drinks were plentiful and served with a smile, although a limited range of local products, it suited us fine. The weakness from our point of view was the food, it was always fresh and well presented, with the chef always in attendance, but lacked variety and did not have the meal appeal I would have hoped for, although we always managed to put a meal together, we think it was prepared to suit the majority of guests who were Eastern European. The staff were excellent, my wife had a fall (not the hotels fault) and the attention she received was instant and of a high standard, they were well prepared from waiter to management. Apart from the variety of food this was an excellent experience.

We booked the Vela hotel after changing from another hotel in Marmaris which has horrendous reviews! We are so glad we did. After getting caught up in the holidays 4 u going bust we thought we would never make it to the hotel but after booking another flight a few days later we arrived early hours of the morning, We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist. We were shown to a lovely clean room with a double bed and a single bed, plenty of room for the two of us. When we were at reception we requested a room near our friends who had arrived two days before and this was not a problem we were given next door but one! Food is lovely, always had something we liked, very fresh and cooked well. All inclusive drinks are great, fizzy, squash, water, beer, wine, vodka, gin. They are served in small cups but if you asked for a large one it was no problem. The pool has plenty of room and plenty of sunbeds, if you wanted one round the pool you had to reserve but this was August, peak time and if you didnt reserve there is a grassy space slightly away from the pool and there ws always plenty of room. The location is fantastic. Right in the centre of Icmeler, but the windows keep out all noise! Our room was on the pool side and the bar played music at night and we coud never hear it once in our room, so im guessing the road side rooms couldnt hear the street noise either. 5 minute walk to the lovely beach. We have been to Turkey three times now and Icmeler was our favourite resort so far, not too big, no hassle from the restaurants, great boat trips, it had everything you'd ever need from a holiday to Turkey! We will hopefully be going back :)
