Me and my partner stayed here for 2 weeks, (05.07.2012-20.07.2012) it was nothing as we expected, we walked into the room and was not impressed, there was hardly any storage, my partner and I lived out our suitcases. as for the bathroom, it was very clean (as was the room) but you couldnt get HOT water until between 5.00-5.30PM. id advice you to take extention cables as there is only 2 sockets in the room, and thats having to unplug the tv (which only has 1 english channel and its bbc world news) i cant fault the maid she was absolutly fab! cleaned the room everyday and made the beds all nice with designs made out of the towels and blankets. the breakfast was not worth getting up for, there was bread, cereal, cheese, tomato, ham, and other little bits, so we only ate 2-4 times. the food at the private bar is good and cheap, slow service though, but we found hair in the glasses and on the plates so after that we stopped eating there. i would definatly reccomend the MAJESTIC restaurant on the canal, lovely people there. thats where we ended up going all the time! and we never even got told about the fitness centre! and you have to pay £35 a wk for AC, which is not too bad!

I suppose we were inexperienced parents not thinking that it's difficult to have any rest with a 14-month-old child, especially in a hotel with no activities for children whatsoever. Even so, the food was pretty much the same every other day and not of any special quality. The room was pretty small (claustrofobic in there); hygiene not on a very high level. One of the worst details is the terrible noise coming from the outside till very late into the night. The air-condition was good.

We arrived in the early hours and were assisted to our room very quickly after being advised about safes and air con. We were tired and decided to wait till the next day to get these things sorted out. We just paid for air con which was £5 per day but we did know it was extra before we arrived. It was so hot you really needed it. A bonus was a fridge in the room but it was a noisy old one.
Breakfast was cornflakes or typical Turkish, simple fare of cheese, tomatoes, ham, jams, olives and lovely fresh bread which you could toast. The fruit juice was the powdered kind mixed in the machine and the coffee and tea machine didn't produce anything very drinkable either. I like a good black coffee in the morning and I gave up on the hot drinks after the first day. You could get a cooked breakfast if you wanted to pay extra but it was really too hot to eat much anyway.
The pool was a brilliant size and very clean but was very busy and noisy after breakfast. You had to get up really early if you wanted a peaceful swim.
We like to try different resatuarants when we are on holiday so only has snacks in the hotel but they were good value for money. Toasties etc came with chips and salad so a snack was like a meal. Drinks were a different matter and I agree with the person who said the BOGOF cocktails had little or no alcohol in them. However the Private was not the only place operating this system.
Another tip is to make sure you pay as you go at the bar. They have a slate system which they prefer to use and even although we most often paid cash, there were a couple of occasions when "they had no change" so you had to run up a slate. Each time we did this there was a dispute over something on the bill, just wee things that we had not ordered.
The cleaner was excellent. The rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels although they had seen better days. On the first day we asked her if we could have an extra pillow each as they were a bit flat. She smiled and said of course and they were on the beds when we came back in. On another occasion my husband was ill in bed and I asked her just to change the towels and empty the bin and she did so very quickly and quietly. To be honest she was one of the best things about the place. All of the cleaners were very cheery and polite in spite of the long hours they had to work.
They had a quiet reading room which also housed 2 computers for internet access. This cost 5TL per hour which I thought was reasonable. However this meant the quiet room was rarely quiet as there would be crowds of kids using the computers. I used the computers myself and found that the one nearest the door was ok but the keyboard on the other one had been well used and some of the keys needed a good whack before they worked.
In general the place was adequate, clean but could have been cleaner, e.g. around the pool, there was rubbish that lay for a few days before being lifted.
If you want a quiet hotel try elsewhere. The Private may suit lots of people but it was not for us.

Room Tip: We had asked for a quiet room, which to be fair it was and the doube glazing was good as it shut out...

The two MALE receptionists were brilliant all the way through our stay at the hotel. However, the floors in our room were dirty, even though the cleaner had been in?! If you pay for air conditioning whilst you stay here, the cleaner will turn it off when she cleans your room, not good when the temperatures outside are 50 degrees and you want to cool down. The FEMALE receptionist on the other hand was not helpful at all, telling us off if we ever brought drink/food into the hotel. This I couldn't understand as we were only bed and breakfast and there was a working fridge in the room. So how were we meant to eat/drink otherwise...especially if you didn't want to order from the overpriced hotel bar/restaurant?

Our first night at the hotel bar was meant to be the BBQ night, Chris (nice barman) had persuaded us to come down even though we were dubious due to the trip advisor website stating that you could be ripped off, and that alcohol was in fact not in any cocktails. This eventually became true as the night progressed. To begin, we ordered 4 pint bottles of Carlsberg; these went down a treat and ordered the same again. My daughter then suggested we did the 'buy one cocktail get one free' offer that they had on...this obviously seemed like a bargain so my daughter, son-in-law, husband and I ordered a cocktail each...we then ended up with 6 cocktails!! (Work that one out). We stressed our concern with one of the barmen that the cocktails tasted as if they were kids cocktails. We were then interrupted by a lady claiming to be the wife (English speaking) of one of the barman and she said that if we wanted to be able to taste the alcohol we should have said that we wanted it to be strong!!!! How ridiculous!! We got offered a replacement, which was meant to be stronger, but it wasn't...and we were charged for it and not on the buy one get one free offer!?!? 23 Lira for one

Back to the Carlsberg, after the cocktail fiasco of which I drank 5 of them to make a point (I was still sober!!), I ordered 4 more Carlsberg.....waited for them to come and the bottles had suddenly shrunk to half pints but they cost the same (7 lira). I asked Thomas (Bar 'manager') why this had happened and he replied that they had run out of the big bottles, I asked why we hadn’t been advised and that we should of have been told and offered an alternative (EFES). He replied "Why can you not go and sit down and enjoy yourself like everybody else?” which I found extremely rude, but it gets worse. I then asked him if they had weights and measures in Turkey he then replied "You are making me very angry" I then replied, "Well you’re making me angry as well". Baring in mind my husband and I paid a lot for this holiday, I was not expecting on our first night, to be spoken to the way Thomas did. Danny (another barman), came over and apologised and replaced the Carlsberg with 4 pints of EFES. I believe this was only due to the fact that we were going to leave. BUT, I never received an apology from Thomas. So please be very careful. As a family we had been to Iclemar before 2 years ago but stayed just outside the town. I’m afraid to say that the town as changed a lot. The constant hassling from the Turkish people to get you in there bars/restaurants was unbearable at times. And if you didn’t go in to their bar they would then insult you. One lady said to my husband he was a Tesco’s wallet, which we fell there is no need for. We will not be going back to Turkey, which is a shame as it is such a beautiful country.

Room Tip: Please find another place to stay

booked this hotel june 16 2012 for 10 days because we went last year and thought the location was excellent and loved the pool and the hotel room was basic but was clean thanks to excellent Rose? the breakfast is basic turkish bread/cheese/meat/cereal but it was fine you could order english breakfast for only couple of pounds the staff are very friendly and have a smile even after all the long hours they work the only problem was after we had been there 2 days the police closed the bar area for 12 days because of bar staff apparently harrasing people from the street to come in to their bar,an offence in turkey so this meant we could not sit around the bar for a drink, also at night time the music was very ,very low the lights were dim and it looked closed, drinks could be served away from the bar area but it changed the whole atmosphere of the hotel we did not want to go to the turkish night or stay there for an evening meal or spend money at the bar at night we were on holiday, we wanted atmosphere, entertainment and it was not there because of the closure of the bar area, our room was opposite the irish bar which was also closed down for 5 days for the same reasons this must have cost the hotel and the irish bar hundreds of pounds because it was when euro cup football was on and they were closed, the noise from irish bar when open did not pose any problems it did not disturb my sleep what so ever the irish bar is a great pub
i would book private hotel again because it is great my only gripe was instead of checking out at 12 midday we wanted to shower and check out at 3 pm and they charged us £15 even though we lost a night stay because of delay getting there and our room was not needed till the following day, maybe a little give and take, but i do like the hotel and the staff and the location so would book again

Room Tip: not been in the attic room but all other rooms fine you are only sleeping in the room not spending...
