Golden Key Hisaronu
Ranked #4 of 11 Hotels in Hisaronu

We have been home 3 days and are missing it already!
The location is wonderful, staff very attentive and Sue, the Simpson rep was spot on! We would single out Yusuf, on beach duty and Osman on beach bar as being excellent ambassadors of the hotel, working very hard to attend to guests needs.
Our suite was large with a wonderful balcony overlooking the gardens and sea beyond.

There were however a few niggles, and it has to be said, that if you set your standards high then the rest has to follow suit.
Housekeeping was not the best - there were occasions when towels weren't replaced in the bathroom, toiletries likewise. Glasses/cups not washed when dirty,
In the restaurant - the breakfasts were buffet, not a problem, but they could vary the choices a little and to pay 8.50lira extra for a glass of fresh orange juice is just unacceptable when oranges are so plentiful ( on the 2 hour journey from the airport to the hotel we lost count of the roadside stalls full of fresh oranges). What would it cost for a basketful of oranges and a juicer to be provided for the guests to squeeze their own?

Also on the subject of the restaurant -Buffets every night of the week become a little boring and unimaginative - how about some variety - buffets with the choice of a la carte thus providing the guests with a varied menu.

The swimming pool would be wonderful if relocated to the garden - it seems to be under utilised due to its location right by the tables in the restaurant.

These are constructive comments and in no way detracted from a very enjoyable stay.

We have been back just over a week and are missing our time here immensely, its July, cold and raining heavily here in the UK!

We stayed in room 102 of the Golden Key as part of our 2 centre holiday with Simpson Travel. On walking down to the room through he lush gardens, Harkan said "I think you may find it a little large for you" we were a family of three. He was right it was a enormous suite, certainly far larger than the ground floor space of our house! We loved the space though. Going through the door self sensing lighting lit the corridor. The first room off to the left was a large room with 3 single beds, lots of storage, tv, cd player etc. Leading from this room was the ensuite for this room, very large a fully equipped if a little overwhelming for our 4 1/2 year old! Further down the corridor there was lots of storage including two double wardrobes. The main bathroom was the next room on the left, again fully equipped with your every need. The final room was our bedroom which must have been 16 foot square, the largest most comfy bed we have ever slept in, seating, mini bar (far to expensive and never touched! 7tl for a snickers bar & 10tl for a canned effes) tv etc, all kept spotlessly clean on a daily basis. Large patio doors led us to own own private patio area with 2 sun beds, table and chairs. Fantastic views over the well manicured gardens and on to the beach and sea. The free use of the pedalos and canoes from the beach was good, and Yusuf attend to our every need in the beach area and was a very nice helpful guy.

The food was very good at the Golden Key, breakfasts were self service with every type of breakfast catered for. the waiters were a little quick to whip your plates away but as it was a buffet you just go back for more. We only had one evening meal here, a buffet which was very good priced at 55 tl each kids free (this has now been reduced I think) We did not eat more here as we like to travel the area and take in all sorts of meals and restaurants.

Having own own car (part of our package) was brilliant. During out stay we went to the Saturday market and the Olive Farm at Datca, whilst in the area we travelled on up to Palamutbükü Beach, we went to the far left of the Bay to Bedya Beach, great mezes (green beans & almonds. stuffed flowers etc, & very garlicky meatballs yummy) We also travelled to the waterfalls at Selela nr Turgut, The sand bar at Orhaniye, Selimye, Bozburun, 2 trips to Deniz Kizi at Sogut our favorite spot for a swim. The Carpet cooperative at Turgut was very interesting and we really wanted to buy one, however the one we selected was around £5000, not all were that expensive just the one we really liked!

The highlight of the week was a boat trip from Bozburun, we hired privately the Mavi Deniz moored outside the Gul Cafe in Bozburun and shared the trip with another family at the Golden key that we were next door to. The boat was only 2 years old and the crew took us to bays that were only accessible by boat. We had numerous stops for swims in beautiful bays in crystal clear warm waters that were good for snorkeling. A very good lunch of bbq chicken and cold mezes and the "Ice cream boat” arrived alongside for welcomed ice creams for the kids. At fantastic full day out at a good price.

We were highly delighted with out week at the Golden Key and hope to return soon!

Thanks to Harkan, Yusuf and the other staff and also Sue the Simpson rep who was great.

We have just returned from a wonderful relaxing holiday at Golden Key. We are a family of 5, our children are 7, 5 and 2 (We are a bit older!). Every one had a great relaxing sunny holiday.

A typical day was (after a great nights sleep in huge comfortable beds) a quick pre breakfast swim and a long and healthy outdoor breakfast We followed this with a leisurely morning either in the shady lovely gardens, by the pool, or on the beach (coarse red sand but as a result, beautiful clear warm water). Lunch was great at the beach bar right next to the beach.

Afternoons were often a trip out, we visited a wonderful waterfall, had a great boat trip that the hotel helped organise and visited a few local markets. We ate out quite often in the evening and the other restaurants recommended were just as good as Golden Key, everywhere was affordable and usually about 100TL for all of us.

The staff could not have been more welcoming of us all (particularly the kids) - Harkan on reception, Ozman in the restaurant Yusuf on the beach and Sue the Simpson rep were incredibly courteous friendly and helpful. We all thought they were a real asset to the hotel and Simpson Travel

We really hope to visit again next year, as everyone had a great holiday. If you want a quiet, comfortable family holiday in a beautiful interesting part of the world this would be a great choice.

Room Tip: We stayer in room 130 overloking gardens and beach. Perfect

We had a very relaxing time at this hotel. It has beautifully kept gardens with lots of shady places to sit. The staff were exceptionally friendly even though their English was limited. They were very welcoming to my son who has Down's Syndrome and really made his holiday for him. We were there in August but frequently had the pool to ourselves and the garden is large enough to never feel crowded. We had a suite and the rooms were large with lovely bathrooms. and were kept very clean. The hotel has a restaurant by the pool which serves a buffet evening meal with a barbecue twice a week. There was plenty of choice with lots of salads and fruit. The barbecue evenings were particularly tasty.
My only complaint would be the cost of drinks in the minibar and the hotels statement that you should not use the minibar fridge for your own drinks. I'm afraid we just ignored this and had no problems. In the heat you need to drink a lot.
I would certainly recommend the hotel for a lovely lazy holiday.

We booked our stay via Simpson's Travel, we have never used them before but they assessed our holidaying needs and came up with Golden Keys. We wanted a holiday where we could just relax and re-charge our batteries and this is exactly what we were able to do. The location of the hotel, it's facilities and amenities were brilliant. The level of hospitality and customer service was also extremely good, my wife and I were treated as valued guests. The menu in the restaurant was varied and suited our tastes, in our two week stay, there was no repetition!

We would have no reservations in recommending this hotel and this area of Turkey.

...... because it is even better than they claim.
The setting is fantastic - beautiful panoramic views, luscious grounds, unspoilt conservation area. The service both from Simpsons and the hotel is efficient and effective. The breakfast and dinner buffets are delicious. The free car hire allows you to explore both the Bozburun and Datca peninsulars (go right to the end of Datca and explore the remains at Knidos). The sister hotel at Bordubet welcomes you to its unique setting half an hour away. But what makes this holiday stand out from the rest is the staff. Every member of the staff were outstanding in their efficiency and manner and made our holiday so fantastic. For the first time in fifty years, we have already booked our return visit.
It is as simple as this, "The holiday booked through Simpsons at Golden Key Hotel, Hisaronu, is simply the best."
