It didn't start well. The porto we ordered for an aperitif was old, cloudy and had bits of cork floating in it. Dismissing it as a minor mishap, we asked the waiter for a new drink. Instead of apologising he sniffed the port, turned up his nose and walked away. Not a great first impression.
Still, we were enjoying ourselves as it was a warm evening, the view was pretty spectacular and the food was bound to be too, right? Er, wrong. There was nothing technically wrong with the food but for the price it was well below average. Starter of cod tartare tasted of, well, nothing really. A shared paella for two at 25 Euros per person was distinctly lacking in flavour, there was not much fish and the portion was small. The wine was reasonable.
What is disappointing about this restaurant is that it has so much potential but you are blatantly paying for the view. In two weeks in Javea we had some fantastic food at great value but I can honestly say this was the worst meal and the most expensive. Not going back and will not recommend it. The staff did not ask us how the meal was but if they had we would have told them it could have been better. A real shame but so many better places to eat in lovely Javea.
