“An Amazing Culinary Experience.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2012

Wonderful food, freshly prepared; Luca, the welcoming enthusiastic host ; a view across the bay ... all provided a meal and an atmosphere that was utterly perfect. We are a group of friends, a choir, who come twice every year to sing in Javea, and eat out at many restaurants. Without doubt this was one of the very best and we will be returning in February for another Dolce e Salato experience..or two ..or three! If you want something a little bit different and very special, this is the place to eat. The wonderful home made bread, with many different oils and juicy olives gave us a taste of what was to come. The tapas were a succession of freshly cooked, tasty, unusual dishes. The puddings ..too difficult to make a choice, so Luca brought them all and we ate every one ! And Luca seemed to enjoy the whole experience as much as we did ! Absolutely wonderful.

“Italian/Greek Cuisine overlooking the sea in Javea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

We had lunch yesterday, 6 of us having a totally different dining experience at this small restaurant overlooking the sea at the port end of Javea. Starting with beautiful home made breads, home produced olives, oils and salts, followed by 8 courses ranging from mussels, garlic prawns, codfish with rice, chicken, croquettes, calamari, mozarella cheese salad, stuffed mushrooms and then 2 beautiful pasta dishes, the service was fabulous, we finished with homemade Baclava and Tiramasu which was sublime, 2 bottles of wine, and beers the bill came to 124 euros, a small amount of indoor seating as well as outdoor with sea views, a stones throw to the beach, wheelchair friendly. Will definately go again.

“Quirky, interesting and a wonderful experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2012

With a wonderful view this is the ideal place to enjoy the wonders of Javea. Luca is a superb host and will entertain you with exciting food in addition to what you order. He is always looking to improve his offerings and encourages you to try food prepared in an imaginative way, full of great tastes and often a surprise. Pick a main course or sample the tapas - if a couple best for one to take the fish option and the other the meat. Luca cares about his restaurant and it shows, especially with the excellent wines available. In Javea one not to be missed.

“Best Restaurant of our holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2012

We spent two weeks in Javea with family in August/September 2012. We visited Dolce E Salato for the first time about one week in to our trip and returned three times before we left. The reason we kept on going back for more was the quality of the food and the charachter of the owner, Luca. On our first visit he brought us some food to start that he wanted us to try out for him, which was lovely; The selection and value of the wine was excellent and the pasta we ordered was superb. When we next visited we just told him to bring us a selection of food that he would like us to try, it felt like we were judges for the winning chef on masterchef! everything he brought was superb, from their mozzarella salad, to their anchovie & melted cheese dish and from their tortellini to their pizza, we were blown away by how nice it was. The fact it is in such a beautiful location is an added bonus. We can't wait to come back next year!!

“Mixed Feelings”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2012

This restaurant is a fairly new addition to the port. It boasts wonderful views of the med and has a nice feel to it.

However, although the food was nice, it left a sour taste in my mouth.

Fist of all I had heard about the award winning mozzarella cheese that the owners brother makes and comes fresh from Italy.

When we arrived the owner advised us to have the tasting menu of 6 dishes each for 12:90 euros.

We were asked if there was anything we didn't like, like squid and octopus. I don't know why he bothered asking this as we didn't get any anyway. What we did get was 6 small dishes between the two of us, consisting of a few prawns, 5 mussels with a cheese topping, four thin slices of beef carpaccio of beef, a decent sized mozzarella salad, two mini sausages wrapped in ham and plenty of bread to bulk us up.

The thing was, it was sold to us as though we would get six different dished each. If I had been on my own I would have got the same quantity of food.

They don't do children's meals but I asked if he could do me a child's size portion of lasagne. They do an adults for 9 euros. It was nothing special and a little like something you would get from the frozen section at supermarket.

All in all the food was good, just not enough of it for the way it was sold.

I later got home and checked the bill, only to find out he'd charged me full price for the children's lasagne, 9 euros!

Thing is, I go to Javea three, sometime five times a year, and we spend a lot of money eating out. I'm not some holiday maker just there for a fortnight.

Sorry but I won't be going back to hear and I sadly won't recommend it.
