We weren't aware Xavia had a Michelin starred restaurant, until another restauranteur recommended Bon Amb, and we weren't disappointed.

Seamless, friendly service, without being overbearing accompanied the chosen Degustion tasting menu of 7, faultless courses. Until Bon Amb I had not been a fan of tasting menus, finding them often overworked, fussy, sometimes unbalanced and of diminutive portion size.

Not so, Bon Amb, delicately and creatively presented, the food was exquisite and offered a new dimension to a jaded palate, accustomed to more robust Spanish flavours. Individually the components within the dishes worked, offering unique flavours that dovetailed together to produce a gastronomic experience.

With a wine list to suit all tastes and pockets and beautiful garden grounds, in which to reflect on the dining experience. Bon Amb deserves it's success and it's Michelin star.

We will return.

We decided to go to the Bon Amb for a treat before returning to the UK. And what a treat it was to. We opted for the 9 course taster menu, which was really 10 courses if you include the amuse bouche. (Not sure of spelling - sorry). Attentive, professional staff with the customer at the heart of service. The quality of each course was exceptional. Although not cheap, but if you go to this type of restaurant what would you expect. So ignore the negative comments, go yourself and make your own mind up. Woul not hesitate to go back.

As we pondered what to do after the hectic days around New Year,we were delighted to see that this newly awarded 1 Michelin Star venue was still open before the annual vacaciones; it was an unusual idyllic lunchtime in January, and Bon Amb offered the prefect garden setting. Our entry was welcomed by the splendid maitr 'd who looked after us throughout the meal, and even shooed off a neighbour's cat who'd intruded hoping unsuccessfully to pick up any unwanted morsels - there were none!!
A value Menu del Dia left us both replete, but happy with all variety of tastes, and our only regret as at a February visit to Javea, is that the season only begins at the end of March - worth waiting for though.

A modern spacious restaurant that has the most inviting gardens in which to dine under Carob trees. Most friendly and helpful staff and a certain winner with ex pats, though would prefer the waiters stopped looking to see if we had finished each course.

Offers include a tasting gourmet meal of 5 or 7 courses priced at 55 and 75€ respectively.
Amuse bouche and bread forms part of the cover charge of 3.5€, though whilst very interesting to look at does not deliver on taste.
A singular homemade crisp per person is served in a large bowl full of black pepper and then 8 crisps are then served in a slotted marble slab, for which both lacked any taste just rather silly and over the top. A beatifically presented dish of different rolled balls then followed but again were also non-descript on taste.

We went for the al la carte and had two ravioli stuffed with rabbit at 15.50 Euros each. The flavours and sauce were fine, though not special enough to warrant the price.
A main course of sea bass baked in a crust of salt was done differently here. Usually you get a whole sea bass encrusted in salt that is then filleted at the table, whereas at Bon Amb they place a single fillet into a salted pastry case that is then discarded when served at the table. The flavour and freshness was very good and cooked well, though better when done traditionally in a good restaurant for the same price of around 25 Euros. The roasted suckling pig was tender and crispy on the outside, but lacked any flavour when going further into the meat. It was probably steamed first to tenderise then simply roasted at the end to give the outer skin crispness.
Not flavoursome at all for 25Euros. The dish was served with some potato mash. Other vegetables are extra.

The wine list offers some more unusual excellent wines that are well priced given the type of restaurant it is.
We would try it again to see how well it works for rice dishes at lunchtime and enjoy the surroundings, but other than that will not be rushing back.

We live in Javea for 4/5 months of the year. This is our first visit to Bon Amb but will not be our last!
Excellent food and service with beautiful surroundings and great views of Montgo
A bit pricier than others in the area but worth if for a special meal.
Thoroughly reccomended
