Reviewed October 8, 2013

we had a wonderful menu of the day, which for the cost (13e) was great value. run by an english couple, they were friendly, helpful and provided an excellent service. meals were freshly made and could be viewed whilst being prepared. we were one of the first in for the lunch sitting but it quickly filled up. will certainly return on my next trip to denia

“Superb food & service”
Reviewed August 31, 2013 via mobile

We ate here a couple of years ago on our last visit to Denia and as it was so good decided to give it another go. We weren't disappointed. My husband had Thai fish cakes followed by beef stroganoff then hot cherries for dessert. I had fillet steak on the stone followed by lemon, lime & honey cheesecake. All absolutely gorgeous. The steak was so tender it just melted in my mouth. The house wine was very good also. This restaurant is a real find. A must visit if you are in Denia.

“Innovative cooking, reasonably priced and a very smart restaurant”
Reviewed August 27, 2013 via mobile

We thoroughly enjoyed an evening here in August, finding the starters innovative and delicious (we tried an assortment to share, including a fantastic fig/goats cheese on toast). The main course of sirloin steak cooked on a brick at the table was also perfect, and the wine list is different/not expensive but exceptional.
The English couple who have run the business for 8 years now are extremely friendly and deserving every success. Well worth a visit if you are in Denia!

“Expected more after previous reviews.”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

We made a special effort to visit this restaurant after reading the reviews and overall it didn't live up to expectations. Parking in July was very difficult. When we arrived we asked if we could have some bread with our drinks and we were told by the waitress who we assumed was the owner that she would bring it when she had taken our order. As the restaurant was becoming full and she was the only person serving this didn't bode well for service which turned out to be justified. We did not feel welcome. The starters were good or better. The service was very slow so our main courses didn't arrive until an hour and a half after our arrival. We all had beef fillet steak or kangaroo steak on the stone. The steaks were a decent size and excellent quality, however the amount of vegetables for seven people was totally inadequate. We had two small lukewarm bowls of cabbage and carrots and one very small scallop sized potato each. The puddings were good. Although the fixed price menu seems good value by the time you add a 6 euro supplement for steaks and 2 euros additionally for a minuscule amount of pepper sauce the total bill was not cheap and we did not feel was good value for money. The owner apologised as we left and said it had been abit chaotic tonight, which we agreed with totally. Our advice would be to offer a free drink in order to say sorry, employ more staff and smile more. 5 star ratings are hard come by and more effort needs to be made to keep a high standard for all customers. I hope this review will ensure standards are improved for future customers.
