We visited the restaurant last night quite early and it was a great dining experience. The staff are really friendly and our meal was excellent. Our Spanish is non-existant, but between our language guidebook and the incredibly patient staff, we had a great evening and will def. Use this again during our three weeks here in Denia.

Left car lights on in their car park. Random passerby phoned pal Mila - off duty receptionist - who phoned the nice Dutch lady on duty. She looked up my mobile and called me - I was on the town. What cooperation, what service. Great place, great value, great people. and car started OK

Excellent location, good service and food. If arriving by car make sure you have clear directions as the one way streets make finding the parking difficult. The owners will guide you in if you are stuck so take your phone. Summary great value and Denia is a good place to visit.

I stayed in Hostel Loreto last December for my birthday with my partner. We chose the hostel based solely on price and expected something very basic. What we got was a wonderful old building. A converted convent, it is ideally situated in the old part of Denia, less than a minute from bars and restaurants and a short 10 minute walk to the local beach/harbour.

We found our stay very restful and the staff to be friendly and helpful. We went bed and breakfast, which was a continental style and served in the restaurant next door. A very nice venue and the food was excellent.

If I had one complaint, it was that I had to take a cold shower on the Saturday afternoon, because there was no hot water, though this was the only time in our two nights there.

Room Tip: There are no views as such, but if you can get a room overlooking the courtyard you will not experie...

Thanks for your enthusiastic comments! I have noted your comment about the shower and trust you were not greatly inconvenienced. There are several kilometres of hot water piping in Hostal Loretp and depending on the room you are in it can take up to 40 seconds for the hot water to reach you (we have hot water storage tanks with 6000 litres of hot water permanently available powered by solar panels and an oil fired boiler as backup). It is always possible that there was a technical problem on the day in question but under normal circumstances you should always be assured of a good hot shower or bath. During busy periods such as in the morning before check-out or in the evening circulation pumps run automatically to ensure that hot water is delivered almost immediately to all rooms but if demand is low the pumps do not operate in order to minimize the heat loss in the circulation system. However even then hot water will arrive after a short wait!

This was a new experience for us as we have never stayed in a 1* Hostal before we where in the area for business & had our dog with us which i am pleased we did as we would never had found this little "Gem" right in the middle of the Historic area of Denia full with Tapas bars & Restaurants and shops all within 2 minutes of the Hostal we stayed 2 nights our room was spotless we also had aircon which i thought we would have to pay for my a meter but this was not the case. The owners are very helpful & friendly aslso the staff in the restaurant are also very pleasant.
Our room over looked the pedestrian street below which we thought might be noisy with all the bars but they close the street off to clean around 1.30am so no noise at all .You are within walking distant to the beach also the marina, we will certainly stay here again in the future & will recommend to our friends. This is never a 1* in our opinion we have stayed in worse 3* in Spain.

I planned a trip to Spain for me and my Fiancé with our final destination being Mallorca. Fodor's Travel Guide recommended the Costa Blanca for an off-the-beaten-path experience. We decided on Denía for they have direct ferries to Mallorca (although ferry prices are expensive). Fodor's also recommended Hostal Loreto and I'm glad we decided to stay here. We were there for just one night, but it was perfect for what we needed. We arrived via bus from Valencia and the bus station was within walking distance to the hotel. We were greeted by Andrew who runs the hotel with his wife. Not being fluent in Spanish, we were delighted to learn that Andrew's native tongue is English, but he's also fluent in may others languages. Andrew was very helpful with navigating and being our "personal tour guide" as far as what's a must see/do in this small fishing town. We honestly wouldn't have gotten the full experience of Denía if it wasn't for Andrew. He was just great! Our room was spacious, had A/C and over looked the courtyard. Probably our favorite thing about the hotel was the roof top terrace. We were lucky enough to have it to ourselves that evening where we shared Spanish wine and a light dinner we picked up from the grocery store. We visited in the beginning of June, which Andrew told us was right before their busy season, so we lucked out. The hotel is within walking distance of the beach, castle, great restaurants, ferry, and grocery store(s). The walls are thin, and there wasn't an elevator, but we weren't affected by this. Breakfast is included, but it is on the light side. It's said to be a traditional breakfast for the area which consisted of a baguette with a tomato spread, juice and coffee. Our overall experience was an A++. If we ever find ourselves in Denía again, we will for sure stay at Hostal Loreto.

Thank you for your review. I look forward to welcoming you back to Hostal Loreto in the future! I’m afraid that as my wife refuses to call me Andrew we will have to stick with my real name on your next visit which is Douglas!!

The owners were helpful but the room was like a sauna and the old air conditioner rattled away all night without making any difference to the high temperature. The lady who owned the hotel was very helpful and the man very chatty when things were going well however as soon as you have a complaint they become very disinterested. The service at the hotel's restaurant is shocking and so is the breakfast however the town as a whole is very lovely and worth a visit.
If you have a car, do not use the hotel's parking. Try the port where roads are wider and hotels have undercover car parks. the hotel's car park is impossible. It is a demolition site 2 blocks from the hotel down a narrow alley way where you need to jump the kerb to access the empty block. The car park is 10€ and the key has a 20€ deposit which is really hard to reclaim.. Since the roads near the hotel were closed to traffic there is no access to the hotel. The hotel's web page has not been updated and gives wrong information about this. The woman was however, generally helpful at explaining and was gave great information about the history of the town and hotel as well as things to do in the area.

Like most hotel owners we are in the business because we enjoy making people happy. If a guest is unhappy about any aspect of their stay they only have to raise the issue with reception and we and our staff will do our utmost to find a solution. Unfortunately if reception is not informed that there is an issue then we cannot take steps to rectify it. We take all criticism very seriously and have checked the air-conditioning in the room in question however our tests show that it is producing air at a temperature of just over 15 degrees with no “rattles”. The air conditioning system was installed new eight years ago and is overhauled annually. If a guest expresses dissatisfaction with any aspect of a room they would always be offered an alternative room. It is always possible for an individual guest to have a disappointing experience in a restaurant however we are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied. Fortunately most other critics give our restaurant high marks for quality, ambiance and staff but your comments have been discussed with the restaurant manager and if you wish to raise any specific issues he would be happy to address them. As you know parking in the centre of Denia is very difficult. We are very fortunate to be able to offer our guests the use of our private secure parking. All other public and private parkings in the area charge between 16 and 18 euros per day however as a service to our clients we offer use of our parking for only 10 euro. I presume that by “difficult to reclaim” you mean that you have to walk approximately 100 metres back to the hotel in order to reclaim your deposit? As part of the charm of our hotel is that it is in a pedestrian area full of restaurants with busy street terraces I’m afraid there is no obvious solution to that!
