To escape cold November in the UK, we went with Saga to this hotel for four weeks. The staff are excellent and nothing was too much trouble. If there any sort of problem they would deal with it efficiently and effectively, and this was true of reception, housekeeping, restaurant, bar/lounge staff etc. Apparently there was a problem with the food in the hotel in the past but we found it excellent. As many Saga guests use the hotel, there is a british type cuisine but the really special food is spanish e.g. paella, fresh fish, cream caramel etc. On a Sunday they even serve roast beef and yorkshire pudding of excellent quality. Our room was on the sixth floor and to enjoy the views you need to be here or on the seventh. The all inclusive holiday through Saga is brilliant value for money with excursions, food and drinks included. In addition the hotel put on a range of great activities that the entertainment people in the hotel run and there are very high quality shows put on regularly in the evening.

Room Tip: Get the great views from the sixth or seventh floor.

We stayed at Port Denia in late February with Saga. Obviously very popular with Saga folk but many seemed to think the hotel was not as good as it had been in the past. The staff were very helpful, bedrooms clean and quite satisfactory but the dining room was crowded, and tables too close so that people were pushing past all the time - the buffet itself was quite an assault course when the Spanish seniors were there in force! Basically the restaurant is not large enough for the number of guests. The food was variable in quality but not a great deal of variety - the same fruits, desserts etc most of the time. Obviously this is a three star hotel and as the old adage goes `you get what you pay for` so bearing that in mind, many would be perfectly happy with the hotel. However, it isn`t one we would think about returning to.

Denia itself seemed a fairly nondescript town in winter, although it was well situated for exploring with its good train service.

I have just returned from a saga break with my 89 year old mother. The hotel was super. I am surprised it only has 3 stars.

The food was excellent. They catered for all, but at a quality rarely seen in an all inclusive resort. I was very impressed.

The staff were wonderful. A special mention to the animator who found something to interest everyone. Her cookery demonstration was simple, funny and informative.

The bar staff work such long hours and still manage to be friendly and good humored. The restaurant staff likewise. I really can't praise them highly enough.

Our rooms were large, comfortable and very clean. The linen and towels changed regularly.

The bar, reception and sitting areas were comfortable and welcoming. Again, the staff in reception were excellent.

The pool was well kept (even after a storm which blew all the furniture into it!) with plenty of bed chairs, all in good condition. Be warned it is not heated, but it really doesn't matter if it's warm outside. The indoor pool was a real pleasure too. Very warm.

The Saga reps had been doing the job for years and it showed. They were very well informed but I got the impression that they felt as though they were running an old people's home rather more than a hotel. I was told "They" rush for the coach. " These people" do this. "Those sort " do that. As I am 54 and fully able but my travelling companion was 89 and less able I'm not sure which one of us was considered "these, those people or that sort" but I suppose when one has kept the same job for too long one becomes a little blase, so it was only to be expected.

We stayed at this hotel recently and were moved to two new rooms during that time, all in one week. The problem was caused by faulty air conditioning when turned OFF at night. Although this was the case it sounded dreadful with vibration and the sound of rushing water that you thought any moment water would come out of the vents. This was intermittent throughout the hotel and particularly if your came out of the lift and had to turn right to your room that was worse. Would suggest you ask for a room to the left of the corridor. The food was ok for a week. Can't comment on the entertainment as didn't bother with it preferring to sit outside in the evenings. No problem with sunbeds and expected more Spanish in at the weekend so the hotel wasn't bursting at the seams. The staff apart from one of the Managers at reception, and unfortunately didn't see his name, were nice people. Usual thing though not enough staff to cope with guests at the bar, outside and dining room, but saying that they all worked extremely hard. Liked Denia very much and we had no problem with anyone there. Would like to return to that area but not to this hotel.

Room Tip: One with a balcony as ones without are stuffy and hot.

I have a very deep gratitude to this hotel for making me a very happy lady. I went there the year after losing my lovely husband, on my own and met the most wonderful man, who was on holiday at the same time, we hit it off and have been together now for nine years, So obviously that was a big PLUS. After the first few years the whole hotel started to drop its standards, although after ETA bombed it ( We were there at the time)!!! Quite frightening, the renovations made it very presentable, The rooms are pleasant ,twins overlooking the pool, and two double beds in roadside rooms, Not enough drawer space etc, but ok. They were the good points. Negative, food poor, entertainment totally geared up to the Spanish, who take the hotel over, not only the quests but the locals, every evening for dancing. Meal times are manic to say the least, noisy, and they dont believe in queing, or tidying up after theyve eaten. Staff on the whole have always been very nice especially Alicia on reception, Denia is a nice laid back small port, and always been quite safe, till just lately when there are alot of refugees hanging around on corners begging and pestering

Room Tip: If you want a balcony pool side, if not the rooms on road side are alot bigger, but windo...

A lovely hotel with helpful staff very clean but !!!!!!do not go after 20th june as this is when the schools break up. You have to queue to get into the dinning room and the noise is unbelievable with kids running around and climbing up the buffet. No seats to be had in the evening or round the pool, a complete nightmare, but thats to be expected when 100 children descend on a hotel, otherwise a great place to stay.

Room Tip: all rooms are spotlessly clean only down side no mini fridge. Beds and towels changed often.the room...

We should remember we are guests in a lovely hotel in Spain. Spain isn`t England. so enjoy.
I found the Spanish people staying at the hotel made me most welcome and helped me join in,
as my spanish is poor.
I loved the town of Denia, I felt safe, and again the people most welcoming.
I went with Saga holidays . I couldn`t fault one thing. Most relaxing, enjoyable holiday.

Room Tip: I had a great room. I overlooked the garden. No noise just people enjoying an evening drink. I would...
