I haven't been for a while to this hotel but went for a day to use the pool and facilities as they had some good offers on. Compared to how this hotel used to be nine years ago, although spotlessly clean, it's a shadow of what it once was. The carpets are worn - but clean, the room still has the old-fashioned huge TV cabinets with old Philips CRT TVs, the mini-bar has one bottle of water, there are no notepads or pens/pencils... and so on. It's a bit of a time warp.
The staff are great, service is OK, but you can tell that the Spain recession has hit this hotel very, very hard and they are doing all they can to cut costs and to keep it going.

This hotel has had a hard 10 years, and it really shows. Even the centre piece sofa in reception is screwed together with wooden slats, the carpets throughout are worn thread bare in places and the decor is very very dated. Worst of all was the deluxe family room, "queen sized beds" are 4'6 standard sized in UK terms. The room was very disappointing, so we spoke to the manager who showed us an identical room but would offer nothing else.

Having booked last minute through travel republic we got a good deal on price, however this left us feeling like second class guests by the manager who offered us no alternatives other than checking out early. This hotel is not 5 star in the terms most of us would expect quality. I will be adding photos to this link to support just how poor the hotel is, but worse still is the lack of any attempt by the hotel management to try and improve our experience.

If you've stayed in a Marriott elsewhere in the world, you'll be shocked jus how tired and unfriendly this Marriott hotel is...Only redeeming quality is to be found in the spa and Technogym equipt gym.

Room Tip: The management informed me that all rooms are the same age and state of wear and tear. My tip would...

Super location and great breakfast but staff never ready at 7 am when it opens. We love this place but a real bugbear is the lowest that air con can go is 22 degrees C - this is way to warm. Also make sure you pay extra for the golf or pool view. The others don't have balconies and some if the views are really bad

This is not a negative review but having stayed at various establishments in this area I do think this hotel is fairly expensive.

Based next to the LaSella Golf Club makes the hotel quite remote for both Denia and Javea
Not much goes on of an evening at this hotel so I would only be going for a golf trip ideally

The pool is nice and it caters very well for children

Golfers whos wives do not share the passion will love it but will still need a car for the evening entertainment

A challenging course with some interesting holes, scenic and in good condition. Reasonably priced as well. Portugal does not seem to have learned what Spain has that if you lower prices you will get throughput a price of £120.00...... $180 with a buggy per pair is bearable. The buggy was necessary as there were some quite long walks between Tees and it was verty hot ( July!!) .. The usual test applies? .. Would I go back again and the answer is yes. I woudl not travel miles but would be happy to play the course again it was quite challenging particularly the 18th Dogleg

Cashed in some Marriott points for a one nighter before moving into our apartment. Front of house staff were outstanding; very attentive and efficient. Same qualities at dinner, where the food was excellent. Pool area the next day was great; lots of beds, cabanas and tables, with good coffee from the pool bar. All in all, a great hotel.

I have rated our recent seven night stay as excellent but this is based on the positive aspects of our stay and there were some negative but not too traumatic aspects to our time at La Sella.
I had booked a suite for myself and my wife. The accommodation exceeded my expectation and bore no similarity to the illustration on the hotel website. I am a Marriott Member so have stayed with the chain in many countries but the room had a double door entry, lounge with matching furniture, tv, espresso machine and access to a large balcony. The bedroom was very large and had a king four poster and tv, access to the balcony and open access to the large bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and separate shower cubicle. The toilet had access from the entry vestibule and the bathroom. There was also a fridge. A complimentary bottle of Tempanillo was available and we received a voucher for a two hour visit to the spa. The room and the hotel were both very clean. We ate in three of the hotel's restaurants and the Thai restaurant served food that was the best Thai that I have eaten except in South East Asia and at excellent prices. The curry evening at the golf club was good value too but not quite Indian food as I have experienced in India or Sri Lanka. The hotel was very busy but I had requested a quiet room in advance and got this. There were a lot of children in the hotel and by the pool so as other reviewers have stated, it can be noisy around the pool or children's kids club. The pool in the hotel is rather small and can get busy. It is a fun pool rather than a pool for swimming. There are two other pool areas in the residence areas of the resort but these are also busy at certain times.
The more negative points - the assumed free bottle of water left in the room daily are not except for the first one and are charged at over 3 Euros per day but can be bought for a third of the price in the local supermarket. A car is a must. Some advice from reception is incorrect about the hotel e.g. taking an umbrella has a deposit charge of 15 Euros that was not disclosed at the time and was charged to my bill despite it being returned so check your bill. Similarly, we were advised on how to reach the golf club at night that would have necessitated breaking open locked gates and scaling a wall! A room overlooking the pool will be experience noise from the aerobics classes, pool bar and the breakfast sittings that go on past 11 a.m. Breakfast is entirely self-service and can be chaotic at busy times. There is a large choice but be prepared to queue for eggs, fried or poached. The expected Marriott breakfast will not be evident - no hash browns, pancakes, waffles etc.

Room Tip: Request quiet room not facing the pool to escape the noise, fitness classes etc Check bill and ask...
