“Small villa with lovely sun terrace”
Reviewed December 8, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We spent the whole of November at Casa Henrique, together with our dog, and whilst the house if perfectly adequate the interior is quite 'tired' and in need of some TLC and upgrading. The small garden is very safe for the dog but gets no sun at this time of year so the terrace was very welcome to make the most of the late sunshine. The local bus service is very good, the stop is only 500m from the house, but unfortunately dogs are not allowed on board! Because of the time of year a lot of the restaurants which were in walking distance were closed and although the house is only 4km from Denia driving into town got to be a little tedious. 2 friends came to join us for a week which worked well with the upstairs bedroom having it's own shower room but not sure how this would suit a family with small children as the second bedroom is reached via an outside staircase and so the children would be separate from the parents whichever room was used. We are sure that this house would be great for a short stay in the summer but it didn't work well for us as a long term let in the winter as we found it a little damp and cold and just a bit too small, especially the kitchen (not meant for more than 1 person at a time)! However, being able to get UK TV channels and great wifi was very much appreciated.

Management Response
Dec 13, 2015
Dear Reviewer,
We can put our hands on our hearts and explain that we have spent years thoughtfully renovating Casa Henrique inside and out, so to suggest that the interior is ?tired? is hurtful and untrue.
Over the last few years we have spent thousands of pounds replacing the kitchen, bathroom, shower room and tiling the floors throughout. We have put in a new double glazed front door and windows, installed air-conditioning units, a hot water boiler and wall mounted radiators. We replaced all mattresses, bought a new Sony LCD TV, and a new ivory leather sofa and chairs. We installed a good reliable wifi system and I have painted each room every 2 years with quality paints. (Actually farrow & ball & fired earth paint.)
We have tiled the roof terrace and front patio area, landscaping the whole garden and laying astro turf. We have many guests that say they really like our villa and how fresh and clean it is, please read the other reviews and see photos.
We are sorry that you had a fair amount of heavy rain & that you were not able to take your dog on the local bus, but all this is outside of our control.
It is unfortunate that that you were not able to operate the heating system, but as we are only a phone call away we are always more than willing to help in any way and we would have been able to deal with your problem by explaining what to do. Our caretaker who lives 500 metres from the villa could have come over to help you with this.
The kitchen is big enough for two people to work together. I often do the washing up while my wife is prepping the food.
Casa Henrique has its own charm and is truly loved and cared for. Many of our guests have returned to holiday there several times.

“Nice little getaway in northern Costa Blanca”

My husband and I enjoy travelling in Spain and we either visit the northeast in Catalonia, or near Denia on the northern Costa Blanca.

So far, we have stayed in David & Caroline's Casa Henrique four times to date. We like staying here for several reasons: well appointed villa, quiet location on the edge of the little complex of El Palmar, and well located for exploring the northern Costa Blanca. We have always travelled with another couple and find it just right for four people, with a downstairs bedroom and bathroom and another bedroom and bathroom in the upstairs tower. There is a stone bbq on the upstairs patio with a very pleasant seating area looking out over palm trees and the small complex on one side, and over a field on the other side.

The villa itself has everything you will need, with good wifi, a tv with English channels and a DVD player although we didn't bother too much with this. The kitchen is well appointed for any cooking you wish to do, bathrooms are modern and clean. There is a small swimming pool only a minute's walk from the villa - most of the time we had the pool to ourselves. In the middle of the complex is a much larger pool which is great if you want to swim laps, or for children who want a larger pool to play in. The beach is only a 5 minute walk away and was never crowded when we went. There is a Masymas store only a 3 minute walk away that supplied all our shopping needs.

The town of Denia is about 3 kms from the villa, and is a lively bustling town. Every morning we would drive in and have coffee on the tree-lined high street, which has many good restaurants and some very nice shops. It's worth having a good walk around the town and exploring the older sections, plus there is an outdoor market and a daily indoor food market. The marina is at the end of the town, which is a great place for having a drink and watching the people and the yachts. In the evenings you can watch the fishing boats come in and see the catches unloaded in the fish market.

As we always rent a car, we were able to drive around and enjoyed exploring Javea, Calpe, Altea and even had a visit to Benidorm which is just under an hour's drive. I highly recommend renting a car because there is a lot to see in this region. Hope to return again next year.

Villa is always fresh and clean. The owners clearly care for the villa like their own home. Warm and cosy out of season, just a great break any time of year. Can't fault anything. Highly recommended.

“If Carslberg did holiday villas”

We arrived at the villa and was met by Sabine who gave us the keys and showed us around, we had been travelling through Spain via motorbike and unfortunately could not have keys sent to us in the UK. The villa has two bedrooms with a twin room on the ground floor and the double with en suite upstairs which is accessed via the sun terrace. It is well equipped for any length of stay, with plenty of kitchen utensils and crockery. It is situated in a nice estate/complex and one of the pools is literally just round the corner, it is un heated so might be a bit chilly for some during the Autumn months. The other bigger one is on the opposite side and is also a very short walk. The beach is very near and approximately a 10 minute walk away at a slow pace, it is nice and sandy with no rocks and is shallow with no deep drop offs which is great for kids.
There are plenty of shops a short walk away, we found that the best one was the Consum which is a leisurely ten minute walk, it has more choice and is bigger than the Masymas you would pass to get there. There are plenty of bar/cafes and restaurants, some of them are on your doorstep, others you have a long walk or perhaps a drive. Because it was off season when we stayed some of them were closed, but there is still plenty of choice.
If you fancy a trip into Denia we recommend using the Deni bus, the bus stop is right outside the entrance to the complex and for €1.50 per person you can't go wrong. Denia is a lovely small port great for a bimble round or just to sit in one of the bar/cafes and watch the world go by.
Would I return to Casa Henrique? Yes we would it was such a lovely well presented villa and it really did feel like home, unfortunately our travels urged us on and we had to leave after our thoroughly relaxing two week stay.

“Fantastic holiday!”

We have just spent a week at Casa Henrique and had an absolutely fantastic time. The villa has everything you need and more! The location is unbeatable and very tranquil and the facilities are first class. It is only a 5 minute flat walk to an incredible beach with white sand and clear waters! Very safe for children. The small swimming pool is a minutes walk away and was lovely. Even though it was August it was amazingly quiet and on many occasions we had it completely to ourselves! The pool with slides was a little busier but again was great. There is a supermarket a short walk away and the shopping trolley in the villa is perfect for transporting the necessary bottles of water and wine! There are also several restaurants within walking distance, the best being " le jasmines" who offer an excellent paella! There is a bus stop at the end of the road which takes you in to Denia for only €1.50 each! Here you can enjoy the harbour side and the market on a Monday morning.
All in all we had a thoroughly relaxing holiday and are looking forward to going again in the future. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

“Fantastic holiday, everything it said it would be”
Reviewed August 24, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Casa Henrique is exactly as described. Well equipped and lovely villa in peaceful location on a complex with fabulous pool and close to the beach. We had a really lovely week with our children aged 11 and 12. Beach every morning and pool most afternoons or evenings, with trips into the mountains and nearby villages on a couple of days. Roof terrace fantastic for barbecuing in the evenings followed by card games until bedtime. Thoroughly recommend it.

“Wonderful”
Reviewed August 3, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Spent a lovely 2 weeks at Casa Henrique with hubby and two teenagers. The villa was wonderful very well equipped and the garden and plants are lovely. The air con was brilliant in the bedrooms we all slept really well.. nice and cool!! Both pools are great but we only used the large one once or twice and spent more time in the smaller one although its not that small and quite deep, some evenings we had it all to ourselves. The beach is absolutely lovely and literally a five minute walk from the villa, we spent many days and evenings swimming and chilling, the sea was so warm. Lovely places to eat near by and a good super market to stock up on your goodies. We would not hesitate to book again I'm saving already!! (thank you for the bottle of wine..very much appreciated, we replaced it for the next guests) Della & family of Bristol.
