“A great addition to the Verde Valley”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

Visited based upon local recommendations and TA reviews. Overall a very positive experience. Given the info on the website, we had hoped to find a "saloon" with real old west atmosphere. The restaurant is actually at the end of a strip mall --so much for that. And it's not a saloon in that it isn't a full bar--just beer and wine. A nice selection of each, but we would have enjoyed a cocktail, and we heard neighboring tables making the same request. Not sure if that's a Camp Verde regulation or not...

Camp Verde has really spruced up the last few years, yet it retains that old western cowboy town charm. There are many interesting things to see around here and the Horn could be part of a great day of exploring.

Back to the review. Very nice ambience (complete with a few local cowboys who had been roping that day). Clean bathrooms. Very pleasant and knowledgeable waiter. Drinks were excellent, although I would agree with earlier reviewer who noted that wine pours are on the skimpy side compared to other restaurants in the area.

Hubby and our friend had the fillets and found them excellent. I had the salmon which was first rate, including the sides.

Would go back again, happily.

“EAT HERE!”

A very pleasant surprise in Camp Verde, AZ. Upscale dining; creative food. Try the Lahmacun or the Argentine Steak. Great tastes! The pecan pie can't be better!

“Great Food in Camp”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2013

The Horn Saloon is a great find. I found it because of other TA ratings turned-out to be right on target. The food and service was quite good. Three of us enjoyed the salmon and one enjoyed the hanger steak. The spinach served with the salmon was fresh and sauteed just enough. There was a ginger risotto cake that was crisp on the outside and soft and tasty on the inside. I also ordered the sauteed mushrooms side dish which was very flavorful and well prepared. We had one of their house wines with our meal, an Arizona red that was light, flavorful and in good balance with the fish. They also had several other Arizona wines and some craft beers on the menu, but we didn't sample them.

Originally, I was a bit nervous about suggesting the Horn Saloon, because Camp Verde is in the middle of nowhere and only fit the locale where we were passing on the way from our drive back from Williams and our Grand Canyon trip toward Scottsdale. We were there mid-week in the evening and the place was empty. Camp Verde is about the mid-way point along I 17. Originally opened to serve the soldiers at Fort Verde, this bar and restaurant has its own ups and downs over the years. So much for the history lesson. It's a bar on Main Street, at the cross-roads of the tiny town of Camp Verde. Aside from some funky bar-scene decor, they have some antiques displayed for sale (yes antiques). But we sat outside on one of the two open-air terraces and it turned out to be a lovely, fairly quite evening meal as well as an excellent end to our day. We enjoyed the sunset, and the meal.

Their menu is much more than bar-food. If you are looking for a great choice, the Horn Saloon is a very good one.

“Best Restaurant of my Trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

The Horne was AWESOME. I came in late by myself after a long day's drive. The staff made great food recommendations and helped me to find a hotel for the night. Not only that- they drew me maps of places to hike the next day. Really an all around stellar experience.
