We had a wonderful time at Out of Africa. It was clear that the staff really loves and respects their animals.

We planned our trip in the fall to avoid typical AZ heat, and also to be there on a feeding day. The animals were active, and the look-out platforms allowed us to get un-obstructed photos of many of them. We were also there mid-week, and it almost felt like we had the park to ourselves.

The Tiger Splash show was so much fun. The kids loved feeding the tigers after, and it was worth the extra $5 fee to give them that one of a kind experience. There was so much to see that we went back a second day.

The staff was so wonderful- very friendly and helpful.

We visit a lot of zoos all over the states when we travel. Being AAA members and having a membership to the local zoo we often receive free or discounted admission to the zoo's we visit. Out of Africa has a great concept but I'd save your money on this establishment and head into Phoenix and visit the Phoenix Zoo or the Wild Animal Park. For a family of 4 we paid over $100 to get in. The admission gate says your entrance fees cover all attractions and shows but this doesn't mean you have unlimited access. You only get to ride the safari bus once where the animals will approach the bus for you to feed them the one snack you are given prior to boarding. Watch out for the ostrich-they are mean! Tips are solicited and requested through out the park-big turn off. In addition, there aren't any restrooms! They have out houses through out the park and no changing tables for little ones. When I asked where I could change my one year old the employee suggested the handicap accessable porta potty since its larger! Gross! I had no choice but to change my infant on one of the pic nic tables. The place also isn't stroller friendly. The grounds are dirty and large rocks-most people left their strollers in the front by the safari bus so your forced to carry your infant/toddler through out the park which requires a lot of walking. There are two concession stands by the tiger splash area but they were terribly understaffed! They had one person taking orders and one person cooking at each stand so I waited for 27 min. for two icees. There weren't any drinking fountains or hand washing stations anywhere in the park. Again, not an ideal situation when you have young children.

One of a kind experience. The park is in an amazing location that resembles a true African safari. Tiger Splash show is a must see! The staff is friendly and accommodated our special needs.
