Waiter was very rude and discourteous. Almost flung food down onto the table. Repeatedly 'tutted' when we asked for something, as if it was too much trouble. Empty plates were set at each place, prior to being served the waiter removed these plates, as he moved mine he threw off the serviette onto the table, he said nothing. Even at the end of the meal, when asked for the card machine he sighed very heavily and stormed away. My husband, who' s a very mild mannered man asked if he ( the waiter) had a problem.
Food tasted o.k. But presentation left a lot to be desired considering it was not cheap. We will not be going there again and warn others not to.

Thank Christine F

“Very expensive beach view”
Reviewed June 23, 2012

We ate here because it was close to our hotel, looked nice & open later in the afternoon when others were closed. BIG mistake. We paid 22€ for 9 smallish grilled langoustines accompanied with a salad consisting purely of iceberg lettuce. Using your hands to peel, no towelette was offered to clean your hands after the meal. We also ordered a paella dish which was 17€ for a single serve! Most other places have a 2 person serve for the same price. The paella dish was very, very salty too. It has a good view but other nearby restaurants have better views.

“Avoid this place - i would have given it a zero if I could. 0/10.”
Reviewed June 25, 2011

We ate here on the first night of a four night break in peniscola and ordered the chateaubriand for 4. At 25 euros per person we were expecting more than a few bits of meat (one of which was not cooked how we had ordered it) on a plate covered in pepper sauce with a tomato and courgette slice as garnish. There were no potatoes or any other vegetables. When we questioned this we were belated served 1 plate of chips between the four of us. The service was terrible. There was a French couple sitting next to us who had an equally bad experience. The only thing el simo has going for it is a nice view but there are plenty of other places to get a nice view. We liked restaurant chiki which was up in the old town near the castle.
