“Hotel Review”
Reviewed December 8, 2013 via mobile

The hotel is small and cosy. Located within walking distance of the square, it is considered to be centrally located. The hotel room offers free wifi. The toilet provides basic amenities. The hotel food is kind of salty and you might get better food at the square.

We stayed here for two nights while travelling along the coast. What a good find this little hotel was. Our room was very modern and comfortable, the bathroom excellent and everything was spotless. The only thing I regretted was not having a front-facing room so that I could see the sea rather than the community centre at the back. Having said that we didn't spend much time in our room as Peniscola was such a delightful place. From the hotel we had a very pleasant walk up to the castle through the old town. It didn't take long at all. We went to the beach for a couple of hours one afternoon and by the time we left, the whole promenade was filled with all sorts of bouncy castles for families to enjoy in the early part of the evening. Breakfast in the hotel was delicious. I especially enjoyed the fresh juice in the iced glasses and the plate of fruit and nuts. I would definitely return here if visiting Peniscola again.

My husband and I have just stayed at this small but perfect hotel for 2 nights, we could not fault it. Our spotlessly clean, sea-view room was very well appointed, modern but without feeling clinical. The bathroom is small but very well fitted with a fabulous shower and a good hairdryer, which makes a change because often hotel hairdriers are not that good. The view from the room was to die for, to be honest I could have spent the whole 2 days just sitting on the balcony overlooking the sea and castle, watching the world go by, but that would have been a waste because Peniscola is such a lovely town.
The breakfast was excellent, a clean and modern dining area with nice crockery etc. There was fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice served in chilled glasses, breads, ham & cheese one day and eggs & bacon the next, yoghurts, pastries etc. Service was efficient.
Parking outside the hotel is restricted to 2hrs maximum during the day and it can be difficult to find a space but from 22:00-10:00 it is free and plentiful. We used to park further down the road during the day and move the car to the front of the hotel overnight .. this was not a problem for us and kind of expected when you are located right in the centre of a town in Spain.
Bar, restaurants right on your doorstep, fab choice, try it - you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms are well worth the extra ...

The nice thing about the boutique hotel is that it's small and the service can be very personal.

Pro's
- Rooms have a nice modern design
- Location across the beach is just superb. And 5 minutes walk to the old city. It could not have been better.
- Breakfast is in good even very healthy. Fresh fruit, actimel, yoghurt, dried fruits and nuts. If you want meat: there is not much.
- It is an efficient designed hotel, all is well thought off. LED's turn on automatically when you walk in the doorway.
- Service is kind by Anna and I guess her husband.
- wifi is eay to use: not complex login
- Every we asked, was catered for (extra nutella at the breakfast, tea at night)
- nice massage shower.

Con's
- Rooms are a bit small
- We were given a sea view room, but it had smell of smoke. So we had to request a different room.
- We had to take a back room (so sea view), and there is not much to enjoy.
- The personnel doesn't speak fluent English. So be ready to use your hands and broken Spanish.
- no toilet brush
- small wash basin / limited space in bath room.

Room Tip: If you can afford it choose the sea view. And choose highest floor, since you are on the boulevard...

Couldn't say much bad about this hotel. Location is perfect, along the main street and just a minute walk to the beach across the road. Staff were really friendly. Room was really nice with good air con. Overall the hotel has a very modern feel to it. The breakfast is to die for - fresh bread, fruit and coffee. Just the business. The only negative thing I could say is that our bathroom had a funny smell which we discovered was coming from the sink's waste trap. If I had more Spanish I could have explained it better to the staff. Not enough to negatively review though:)

Room Tip: Request a room with a sea view and allow some time beyond standard for check in (they really spend a...

I liked this place alot - simple, clean, good breakfast and compact - they make good use of limited space. As the title says, the big ones could learn a lot from a place like this - in a lot of areas it runs rings around the big boys.

Great little hotel! Right on the beach and beautifully designed throughout, this small hotel makes the most of it's limited space. The overall impression is one of light and cleanliness. I was a little concerned when we booked in that the two bar/restaurants immediately below our room would be noisy, but once the door on the balcony and the shutters were closed, we could hear nothing. The bed was a little hard and could have done with a soft topper on it, or at least some sort of padded mattress protector, as I could feel the edging of the mattress. Breakfast was included and was fine.

All-in-all, I would certainly recommend this hotel - but be warned: the room is very, very small, as is the bathroom. However, once you realise the there are two sliding doors to the shower, it makes getting in and out a little easier than at first thought!

Room Tip: Although the rooms at the back might be a little bigger, it's worth having a smaller room at the...
