Owner description: The Castle of Lorca is the hallmark of the city, symbol of power and the incessant struggle between the Nasrid kingdom of Granada and the Crown of Castile. The castle-fortress is a place where history is lived first hand through exhibitions, workshops for the whole family, guided tours and extraordinary activities throughout the year. In this space, Ben Sakar (the Hawk's Son), the virtual mascot of the castle will show you scenarios as emblematic as the walls, the stables, the cisterns, the Tower of the Spur, the Tower Alfonsina or the Jewish Synagogue.

As it was a 'dull' day we decided to finally visit the castle. Although the castle over looks the City we did find it a 'bit' difficult to get up to as its not very well signposted. As the castle is still having maintenance work completed due to the earthquake the price has been reduced to 5 Euro's. Great that we given an audio system and numbered map so you know exactly where you were and you also had a bit of the history. Must go up the tower with your camera - the views are fantastic. Some of the area could do with some maintenance but this may be due to the on going repairs. Lovely place to walk around at your own pace and take in the history

A lovely medieval castle with great views of the surrounding area. The staff are very welcoming and the audio guide is very informative although one of ours froze soon into the tour. Most of the exhibits have Spanish and English notices although some do not. Some areas are not as well maintained as others unfortunately. It was disappointing that the Alfonsia Tower was closed so we missed out on 6 points of interest. The view from the roof of the stables is a must see. A lovely day out and not too pricey at only 5 Euro for adults and 4 for children.

Well preserved medieval castle with interesting exhibitions for children and adults alike. Some repair work still ongoing after the 2011 earthquake, but plenty to see, and the views of the city and countryside are stunning.
The presentations are in English as well as Spanish, making the information accessible to non-spanish speakers.
All in all a great day out.
Nice cafe on sight which serves nice, basic food.

This is definitely one of the must see places in Spain. It is a historic castle built around 900 hundred years ago. I recommend taking the night tour around 9pm just before sunset in the summer. Out tour guide Enrique was excellent. He was one of the archeologist working on the place and knows every detail. The 7€ ticket is more than worth it!

Made with kids in mind. Lady at reception was really informative. Introduction video is very much designed for kids. Audio commentary was really good. Lots to wander around and discover. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Lorca. Nice walk up to as long a its not too hot.
